Scrubs -Alba Botanica -Good & Clean Toxin Release Scrub

on 4/19/2018 11:39:00 PM

Dealing with acne prone skin for nearly 20 years now. About 5 years ago I started using facial scrubs daily. I know, I're not supposed to use them daily...they tear your skin.... I KNOW. But I'm nearly 40 and I still break out like a teenager! I used the St. Ives Apricot Scrub for years but I felt like I out grew it. I discovered the Alba Botanica Good & Clean facial product line about 3 years ago while pursuing the beauty section at Marshalls. I was looking for a new facial wash and scrub. I bought the Alba Botanica Daily Detox Foaming Cleanser (separate review) and this facial scrub. I love it. I do use it daily and have been for 3 years now. It's gentle and all natural using 100% vegetarian ingredients and doesn't have any parabens, phthalates, or synthetic fragrances. It exfoliates well enough to keep build up from from accumulating and causing more acne. Although you can find these at Target, Walgreens, Rite-Aid and CVS, it runs about $7-$10 at those locations for a 4oz bottle. I still go to Marshalls for these products as they are only $4-$5 bucks and for that price I'll buy multiple bottles. I have also purchased on Amazon as it is also less expensive than the retail drug stores.

Skincare - Body -Alba Botanica -Very Emollient Bath & Shower Gel - Midnight Tuberose

I bought two huge bottles of this at TJ Maxx for like $7.99 each and they were worth every penny! The scent really envelopes you in the shower, so relaxing, my husband could smell the fragrance wafting into our bedroom and he loved it! Creates a soft and very soft and moisturizing lather which feels great. To top it off, this doesn't irritate me or my daughter's sensitive skin! I will definitely repurchase this item again and again!

Conditioner -Alba Botanica -Hawaiian Marula Miracle Therapy Moisture Conditioner

on 4/16/2018 10:07:00 AM

This conditioner contains kukui nut oil (Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil). It doesn't contain sulfates or silicones or parabens or a long list of other chemical ingredients. It has great slip and a very faint fragrance. It doesn't smell like coconut or pineapple or anything Hawaiian, which I find a plus. The kukui nut oil is supposed to be great for frizz. I follow the Curly Girl Method with no silicones, mostly because silicones weigh my hair down. I have fine, naturally curly hair and this product doesn't weigh down my curls. I also use it as a leave-in, although there is a leave-in conditioner in this line. There is also a cleansing conditioner, but I use a sulfate-free shampoo with neem and tea tree from Alaffia. I bought this conditioner at Whole Foods for around $10 for 12 oz., which I think is a little pricey. I don't use that much, though to get the slip I need. I used the Alba Botanica fragrance free line of shampoos, conditioners, and hair gels for years, and my hair was in great condition. They discontinued that line, unfortunately.

Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica -Original Body Lotion

This is for the original very emollient body lotion with no scent. It is so good! It really gets the job done without feeling heavy, greasy or it melting/ rubbing off. I can’t believe this lotion isn’t already a craze. I had flakiness on my calves because of the dry northeastern winter but this lotion helped get rid of that. I’m just amazed at how hydrating it is without feeling icky and heavy. This is a huge pet peeve for me. Only downside was that I had to get the liter bottle since bed bath and beyond didn’t carry anything smaller. Not expensive at all for what it is, so not entirely complaining. Glad I made the jump to buy.

Body Scrubs -Alba Botanica -Hawaiian Detox Frothy Scrub

Honestly it an okay body scrub. It is not harsh at all, unless you use a lot of pressure. The pumice granules are present but it doesn't irritate your skin, well in my case it didn't. So far it is somewhat safe to use daily. I didn't notice a scent but I could be my allergies are acting up. You have to rinse it very well or the pumice granules would make moisturizing a weird experience to say the least. Personally I would use this on the feet or hands for daily maintenance of a manicure/pedicure. The reason why I am so undecided on this product is because I tried a different charcoal based scrub that I adore even more than this. This scrub is not the right kind of scrubiness and a touch too loose in texture. This scrub is okay but once I finish this, I won't repurchase at all.
