Latest Giovanni Reviews

50:50 Balanced Hydrating Calming Conditioner

The Giovanni conditioners are super thick and from a moisture perspective, a curly girl’s dream. This really detangles and conditions my wavy/curly hair, keeping it in excellent condition. My hair is neither oily nor dry, it is quite healthy and I contribute this to the products I use, as well as very infrequent processing, and no heat styling. Giovanni has some wonderful sulfate-free shampoos and silicone-free conditioners if that is important to you (it’s something I adhere to as it keeps my hair in excellent condition). I love that you can get the large size of these products at Winners for great prices.

50:50 Balanced Hydrating Clarifying Shampoo

I had been using the Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat shampoo and really like it but can be a bit strong if you wash your hair more than once a week. I typically wash my hair about every 5-7 days, am blessed with healthy wavy/curly hair that does not get oily nor is it very dry, so I can use the Tea Tree without issue. For those that do not enjoy the strong scent of Tea Tree this 50:50 shampoo smells wonderfully fresh and effectively cleans my hair while leaving it feeling moisturized and soft. It is truly a 50/50 balance between hydrating and clarifying and I now prefer this one over the Tea Tree. I’ll reserve that for extremely humid or sweaty summer like conditions where a deeper clean is required. I love that you can get the large size of these products at Winners for great prices.

L.A. HOLD™ STYLING GEL

While I love Giovanni shampoo and conditioner in the ecoTools line for their sulfate-free and silicone-free formulas, I’m not as thrilled with their styling products. They are okay, but not great for my 2c/3a medium thickness hair. You will get definition and hold from this gel, but hair will not feel soft and it will look dull as well. Because this gel is EXTREMELY thick I recommend using a small amount and applying to soaking wet hair OR adding water to the gel in your hand to thin it out so it doesn’t shellac your hair together. Since I get much more softness and shine from another brand of gel I will not repurchase this product.
