I used to love painterly. But decided that this bare study would be perfect bc it's not matte and boring like painterly. You can wear bare all alone or add a shadow and still have the pearly shimmer! Painterly is fine...just no shine or shimmer. This is gorgeous for everyday! I have also added Mac oh so gilty over it and it's stunning! I need this primer to hold my eyeliner gel and it works fantastically!

I have paint pots in painterly and soft ochre and use them all the time as an eyeshadow base, they were game changers and I now rely on them. They help provide a smooth eyeshadow base that makes all of my eyeshadows apply with ease and signifigantly reduce creasing. Decided to try this shade thinking a beige pearl shade would be nice to wear under shimmery eyeshadows and maybe on its own. This is not at all what I expected. It has big pieces of glitter in it and instead of smoothing my lids it makes them look super wrinkly and horrible. I don’t know, maybe I got a pot that is dried out because instead of being smooth and creamy it it chunky and difficult to spread. Update: read up on the internet about dried out pots and one rec was to wipe the top layer of the product to remove any film that may have formed. Well this did the trick! This shade has a sheer slightly yellowish undertone with a pearly sheen that brightens and looks nice on its own for a neutral look. It also makes a nice highlight for under the brow.

This versatile little product isn't the cheapest out there, but is one of those products that has stood the test of time over the years and is one I always repurchase. It is a buttery cream eyeshadow in a warm champagne ivory colour with finely milled gold pearl in it. As an eyeshadow by itself, it imparts a pretty and subtle sheen and brightens the whole eye area without being garish or overly bright. It also functions well as a glowy base eyeshadow primer - shadow applied on top before it sets will not budge all day once it's dry. It's also subtle enough to use as a brow highlight or even on the cupids bow. Used with a thin eyeliner brush, it also looks nice as a gentle inner corner highlight or used along the lower lashline, and is water-resistant so it doesn't smudge. It comes off easily with make-up remover at the end of the day. One pot takes me over a year to get through so that offsets the cost a little bit. Even so, it's just such a lovely colour and with a very pretty and timeless shimmer to it, nothing OTT. It's easy to apply and long lasting - I think it's one of those expensive products that actually is worth the money.

Love how this adds a subtle, yet beautiful, and not hugely obvious (yet not invisible either) sheen to your eyelids, with or without makeup. It also works as a wonderful eye primer, and you need very little for a beautiful effect. I bought this colour because of my pale skin and with or without eye makeup it adds a beautiful glow to my eyelids. Will be repurchasing.

Love it! Easy to apply and adds a nice amount of shimmer under certain shades! Also prevents creasing! I would repurchase

It has great color and staying power even on oily lids. I use my fingers to apply, because it glides smoothly and easier to control. The sparkle is nice, but can look cheap for everyday wear if you use it as a primer. I prefer to mix it with painterly or soft ocre to give them a lighter hue with a little shimmer. The only issue I have is it dries out quicker than I can finish using it, and when it starts drying out it goes on unevenly.

The shimmer in this paint pot gives off a crepey eyelid look. Camel coat or Soft Ochre are much better options. I will not repurchase.

I wrote my original review for Bare Study way back in 2012. I have used MAC Paint Pots for more years than I care to think about and I love most of them. With Bare Study, I have a bit of a "love/hate" relationship. I recently bought a new jar to replace one I b2m'd 4 years ago because it dried out so quickly compared to Painterly, Groundwork, etc. But since Benefit's RSVP Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP is not longer readily available in Canada, I figured I'd give Bare Study another try. It's an okay product but I find it applies much less smoothly, evenly and easily than RSVP; it can go on quite patchy. This is a brand new, fresh jar so it's not like it's developed a "skin" on the surface - it should be smooth and silky but it's not as smooth as I'd like. I will continue to use it - it looks lovely on its own and makes a great base, as do all the Paint Pots. A good product to have but not a really great one. I probably should have bought a Clarins or Lise Watier cream shadow instead. My complaint about the packaging is the slightly domed lid (like most of MAC's products) - it makes for a very wobbly column if I try to stack these in a drawer. I so wish they had flat lids.

I am not sure what I can add which hasn't already been said, but... I LOVE this product! I love this product for completely different reasons than I love the matte paint pots though. This shade is beautiful champagne with glow - think highlighter for the eyes. The texture is like silk, and it applies like buttah - I use my fingers for the best coverage. It's also buildable. I think the best thing about this product though is that when I use it as an all over lid color on days I don't want to deal with shadow application, I look refreshed and bright eyed, and I always get complements that I am somehow "glowing". I use this prob. 3-4 days a week as a standalone/all over the eye color, and on the other days I only use it dabbed over primer as a center lid base, which enhances the pop of frost/foil/pigment I top it with. Now for the down side... This will crease if you don't use a primer under it. Interestingly that isn't an issue as an all over color for some reason, and I don't use primer in conjunction on those days. BUT if I use other colors on top of this, no way, total crease city. Well, on me anyway. Even so, I just love the glow this gives my face and how it sets off my brown eyes! I have yet to find another all over shade like this, with these noticeable effects, which says a lot.

It is an absolutely lovely shade - pinkish champagne with some fine shimmer. Should be particularly beautiful on warmer skin tones. The texture is very creamy which results in creasing in the lid. So try using a tiny amount in the crease and tap it in well.Longevity is ok.
