Incense with woods, right away. More sweet than dry. Medium sillage, fairly long-lasting. This is a nice, comfortable, won't-let-you-down incense. The midwestern neighbor of incense fragrances. The obvious comparisons, now, are to Fille en Aiguilles and Balsamo alla Mecca. To me, Wazamba is more straightforward/linear and less pine-needle than Fille, and a bit louder and less mystical feeling than Balsamo. Wazamba is closer to the prettiness of Passage d'Enfer than the abstractness of the Comme des Garcons series. Incense fragrances can be a little odd (think Messe de Minuit). Wazamba isn't. It doesn't make me think of Pere LaChaise cemetery; it makes me think more of mountain retreats.Incense fragrances also can be temperamental and wear differently from one day to the next (Dzonghka), occasionally ashy (Profumum Olibanum), or just Jabba the Hutt big (Amir). I love all three of these, but would I recommend them to a stranger? Wazamba, yes. Wazamba is consistently well behaved.

I had been looking for a new scent for the fall. My former scent had been Ormonde Jayne. I selected Wazamba based on the description and the many positive reviews on luckyscent's site. On the box, it says, "An aromatic pine grove created around incense, sacred to all great civilizations. Incense, myrhh, sandalwood, cypress, and apple fashion the enigmatic formula of this captivating perfume. . . ." All of those notes are apparent. I was a little suprised that the total blend is on the sweet side but that is what makes the perfume work. All the disparate elements blend into a very lovely tapestry. The sillage seems to be good, too. As it wears throughout the day, various notes emerge. I also detect a honey tone which is not mentioned in the description. DH bought this for my birthday and happily, he likes the scent as well. I enjoy all of the different tones in Wazamba and will enjoy wearing this throughout the fall/winter. I wanted to tell all of this to you because I could not find a review of this in the product reviews and in case you may be thinking of purchasing this one.

I'm loving this. To me, it's Passage d'Enfer with a dash of Timbuktu.

this gets low marks for individuality. as soon as I sniffed it I knew I was smelling a knockoff of some other fragrance, with, of course, the requisite added bit: incense, pine. But the incense and pine are minor players in a perfume that gets its fragrance from Lutens Amber Sultan!

Very incensey, woody, but sweet and not harsh.A lovely fragrance that could be easily worn by a man. Smells like an indoor pine tree, logs on the fireplace, smoke, resin. As Paschat correctly poitned out below, very Christmassy, very wintry. I like it, but I could get tired of it soon. Reminds me of Neil Morris October. The drydowns is benzoin and incense al the way. Soft and close to skin. Good staying power.A must try if you like incense.
