Lip Gloss -Tarte Cosmetics -Tarteist Lip Paint in "Birthday Suit"

I love the Tarte lip paints and this is no exception. I don’t find them drying, they’re matte, and they’re easy to apply. I do have to reapply through the day though.

Concealers -Tarte Cosmetics -Shape Tape Contour Concealer

My feelings for this concealer are complicated so I’ve broken it down.
Pros: long-lasting, not too drying, a little goes a long way, multi-purpose (I also use this as eyeshadow primer), easy to blend

Cons: Limited range of undertones - I got this in Medium for my NC40 skin and it looked ashy as hell. A deeper shade would have been too deep for an undereye concealer IMO. However, when I used this on top of a peachy corrector, my undereyes were flawless and remained so until the end of the day.
Other con: Price – At 35 CAD$, I expect not to have to pair it with anything else.

All in all, I’m not thrilled about the cons but the end result when I use this right is so beautiful that it has me torn about whether I’ll repurchase this or not.

Primer/ Corrector -Tarte Cosmetics -Ready, Set, Radiant Skin Mist

on 12/14/2018 10:23:00 PM

This skin mist was included as part of a holiday gift set I purchased last year. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan. The mist is incredibly fine, but doesn't feel like it does much. A spray bottle of finely misted water would be about the same. It claims it's packed with antioxidants and delivers luminosity, but you could have fooled me. It's very expensive for a spray that feels like it does nothing. I am a fan of refreshing sprays to use to help refresh me on long days, but this just doesn't cut it. It's unfortunate because I like a lot of Tarte products and expected more from them.

Eye Shadow -Tarte Cosmetics -Tartiest PRO Remix PRO Palette

on 12/14/2018 7:53:00 PM

I got this as soon as it arrived at Sephora in my city; I'd been waiting for it for weeks, since seeing it on Temptalia's blog. This is a follow-up to an earlier Tartiest PRO palette and like the earlier one, it contains 20 shadows. There are 3 matte shades (a beige, a light brown and a black) in this; the others are shimmery or pearly or outright glittery and the colours run the gamut from neutral to bright to deep and dark with a balanced assortment of warm and cool shades. There is a reddish shade called Graffiti and as much as I tend to avoid red shadows (they give me the "allergic reaction" look), this is actually a flattering shade that I can wear in the middle of my mobile lid with good effect. As I've said in many of my reviews, I'm well past the age where someone has decreed that women should avoid shimmer but I say "to heck with that". The sheen of these shadows is gorgeous; the texture creamy smooth and I've experienced little to no fallout with any of the shades. Quality and texture-wise, they are very much like Tarte's metallic singles, which are also fantastic. For me, the only disappointment is Mash-up, a magenta shimmer; it's the one shade I probably will never wear because I find it unflattering, but one dud in a palette of total winners isn't too bad. In spite of there being only 3 matte shades, I find I can use this palette entirely on its own, without having to bring in any other shadow singles or palettes.

Apologies - I think I misspelled the name of this - it's "Tarteist" rather than "Tartiest" (the whole mouthful of a name is rather silly in any case!)

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte Cosmetics -Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen

on 12/9/2018 1:10:00 PM

I thought this was a good tinted moisturizer and used it for over a year, mostly because almost everything breaks out my skin and this didn't seem to, plus it has sunscreen in it. The color I used was close enough to my skin tone for me to think that it wasn't noticeable. The thing that bugged me about it was that it transferred easily to clothing, which is sort of a pet peeve, and it's sparkly. If you don't like sparkly don't buy this. It always looked like I was wearing makeup when I went into the sun, and it's sort of difficult to blend. I bought a brush for that purpose but I couldn't get it quite right - it looks heavy on my skin.
