Cleansers -Jurlique -Replenishing Foaming Cleanser

on 2/10/2018 11:56:00 AM

I find that this is interchangeable on my skin with the Soothing Foaming Cleanser. They both clean my skin gently and make it glow. I love the scent of both of them. This one is a milky gel-like facial cleanser that foams a little and rinses easily. Don’t expect it to remove heavy makeup. I don’t wear a lot of foundation or blusher and it takes off most of it but if I want to be completely makeup free I either need a makeup remover before using this or a light toner afterward. One of the amazing properties of this facial cleanser is that it leaves my skin soft but acne free. At 62 I still have occasional mild breakouts and I find that this cleanser really inhibits any acne. Paula Begoun isn’t a fan but none of her products have ever worked for me. I always buy these in bulk when Jurlique has a sale and I’ve never paid more than $26 at the most for a bottle. It seems quite a steep price but given the fact that each one lasts me a good three months using it twice a day, it’s worth it to me to have clear skin. I have a small version of the bottle I got in a Jurlique skin care kit and I wash and refill it whenever I travel. My only caveat with this cleanser is the pump. It tends to get plugs of the cleanser stuck into it even though I use it all the time. I’ve learned to very gently press on it to expel them or to pick them out because otherwise the liquid can spray a bit. This is a problem I’ve discovered with all Jurlique products that come in a pump bottle but again, I work around it given the great results I get from this facial cleanser. I’ve been using it for 6.5 years and unless something less expensive and miraculous comes out, I can’t imagine ever switching products

Loose Powders -Jurlique -Rose Silk Finishing Powder

Love this stuff. I bought it on sale on the strength of the reviews I read here, and I am very happy I did!

It really does minimise my (massive) pores to a degree I have not previously seen with any other finishing, blotting, oil absorbing, foundation, concealing, or literally any other powder of any brand I have ever purchased or used.

I was quite worried about the scent being too much for me as I'm quite sensitive to fragrance (rash-wise and just general dislike) and generally not a fan of floral, powdery or grandma-ry aromas, BUT much to my surprise despite the rose scent being reasonably prominent, I quite like it! It fades away quite quickly but feels like a little flurry of finely-milled and fragranced luxury while being applied.

I live in a very sunny country with one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world so I try to wear sunscreen everyday, but have not yet found my HG facial sunscreen that is high SPF but doesn't leave your face shiny, greasy or sticky - the closest I've found still left me shiny and greasy - but thanks to this powder those problems are solved and my pores appear much much smaller, I'm stoked!

I found no white cast issues, but I'm quite pasty as-is so no surprises there.

I have extreme combination skin (oily and acne prone as well as dry, dehydrated, sensitive and very flakey - the worst of both worlds, OH YAY!) with rosacea and eczema and this powder somehow manages to absorb the oil and beautify without breaking me out, drying my dry sections or accentuating flakiness. I have no idea how they managed this, as no other powder I've used in the last 20 years managed it, but I'm very glad they did!

Skincare - Face -Jurlique -Herbal Recovery Gel

on 9/14/2017 7:25:00 PM

Jurlique is a lovely Australian skincare brand with amazing products, and the Herbal Recovery Serum is no exception. This is a gorgeous facial serum which provides hydration to my skin, giving it an extra boost. I use this after toner and before moisturiser. A little goes a long way with this product, so the bottle will last you a very long time. It absorbs into the skin very quickly and easily. It doesn't make you look shiny, or feel oily/greasy. It leaves my skin feeling very smooth, soft, plump and hydrated. It has a lovely herbal scent, with a hint of floral. It smells natural, not synthetic, and the fragrance is not overpowering. It is a lovely serum to use, and a great addition to a skincare routine. I believe everyone should use a serum and this is a great one to pick up! It is worth the money.

Toners -Jurlique -Rosewater Balancing Mist

on 9/10/2017 8:38:00 PM

Calming and an indulgent pick me up.

I work in an office that won't allow me to open the windows to let fresh air in so I'm at the mercy of the temperamental air conditioning system. Most times it blows warm air that I've noticed my skin become dull and dry at the end of the day. I have a combo to oily skin condition so I do worry about adding extra moisture will make me look like a fried egg. Since I decided to treat myself ($AU45 at Myer Jurlique stand in Bourke st, Melbourne), I noticed that I'm not so haggard looking and my skin is soft.

I spray 2 pumps about an arms length away from my face and then glide into the mist so it covers my face and neck. I let it settle for about 20 seconds and gently pat it in with the back of my hand. I don't know the effect it would have on over make up since I don't wear it often enough.

I'll have agree with the other reviews that the scent doesn't last long but that's ok because I usually spray about 3 times daily (depending on the room conditions).

The scent is gorgeous and was rather surprised that it was rosewater and small amount of marshmallow root! Usually that would remind me of toilet freshener or pot pourri but it's far from it. So out of the 3 choices I tried at the Jurlique stand (lavendar & lemongrass), the rosewater was my favourite.

The bottle is cute and it's got a cap that unfortunately is slowly losing its tightness so I'm worried it will leak and my bag will enjoy it's benefits instead of me. Other than that, if you have some cash to splash, I'd recommend this.

This product does contain alcohol (2nd ingredient listed from the top of the list) which may be drying to some skin types. Since my skin is oily, this product helps reduce the oil slick.

ALL INGREDIENTS - From their website. (Too bad it doesn't have the percentages for each ingredient)

Aqua (Water); Alcohol; Althaea officinalis (Marshmallow) Root Extract; Rosa gallica (Rose) Flower Extract; PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate; Fragrance (Parfum)*; Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate; Lactic Acid; Polysorbate-20; Citrus grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract; Aloe barbadensis Leaf Extract; Geraniol*; Linalool*; Citronellol*; Eugenol*; Benzyl Benzoate*.

Keep an eye on the cap! I lost it once in my bag and now my purse smells like rosewater and marshmallow root.

Lotions/ Creams -Jurlique -Rose/Lavender Hand Cream

on 9/9/2017 9:59:00 AM

Jurlique make gorgeous hand creams. They are pricey, yes, but in my mind they are worth every penny. They come in 4 different fragrances in Australia - Lavender, Rose, Jasmine and Citrus. I have used all, and my personal favourite is rose followed by jasmine. The scents of all 4 are very natural, not at all synthetic or chemically. The scents are quiet strong (lavender I find to be the mildest) and do last on the skin for a long time. They have a nice, thick consistency but absorb into the skin very quickly. They don't leave the hands feeling coated, sticky or greasy but instead the cream absorbs almost immediately, leaving hands feeling soft and hydrated. You can visibly see the difference - particularly if your hands are very dry before use. There are two different sizes of the product available and both should last a long time as a little goes a long way with this product due to its richness. I really can't recommend these hand creams enough, they are gorgeous products! A luxurious treat for the hands.
