Love Essie's After Sex, a beautiful apple red and one of my favourite 'go-to' polishes.

My favourite red. Very intense with a hint of glitter... It's very beautiful and I get alot of compliments when I wear it!
One of the few colors I keep buying

What a pretty color for my fair, cool skin. Every time I wear this I can't stop looking at my nails.

Love this- bought it on holiday in London so it's a nice reminder. As Essie polishes tend to be on the thinner side, it takes two coats for an even colour. With Sally Hanson Insta Dry over the top, I get about 3 days wear out of this.
The colour is hard to describe- a darkish red with a very subtle shimmer? It reminds me of OPI Bogota Blackberry but maybe a tad pinker.
It would be great if Essie had slightly thicker brushes but otherwise it's fine.

To me, this is a beautiful candy-apple red color and therefore perfect for fall! Great name, too!

This is my first essie. I haven't worn it yet but I've swatched it.
Its a magenta red that is nothing impressive. It is close to OPI's I'm not really a waitress but its more pink. No obvious shimmer, it can only be seen when looking very closely. I like the bottle design but the polish was kind of thin compared to OPI. The brush is also not that big of a hit with me. Its too thin and small.
I mostly bought it for the name though. Although, i wouldn't really associate this colour with sex.

really love this colour.
applies smoothly and dries fairly fast.
2 coats got perfect results.
essie nail polishes are pretty expensive (18 bucks a bottle where I live!)

I love this red! It looks great on my dark nw47 skin, very classy. I have never really liked reds but I love this one. The application is amazing, very smooth with no problems and fairly fast drying.

I love red nail polishes, so even though I already have a decent collection of them, when I saw After Sex I couldn't pass it up. Essie describes this shade on its website as a "pearlescent burgundy" but I don't find that too accurate. That being said, it is a tricky shade to describe. It is a definite red though and quite bright, but it has definite pink tones to it, giving it the appearance of a berry-ish shade. Because of these pink tones, I think this shade would look best on cool toned skin. It has a nice amount of shimmer running through it (which is the shame shade), not so much that it makes it very flashy, but it is still visible on the nails and gives a great finish. I have seen After Sex being named as a dupe for another Essie shimmery red, Scarlett O'Hara, but I think they are different enough to own both (Scarlett O'Hara is a ruby red which does not lean pink, and the shimmer running through it is gold).
My favourite thing about this colour is its ease of application, which was perfect, and made it very quick to apply. The polish was a perfect consistency, not too thick and not too thin, and applied in a perfectly even layer with no streaking. I applied two coats just to get a nice depth to the shade. Last time I wore After Sex I met a friend for lunch, who thought I had been for a professional manicure as the application was so good. This is definitely a testament to how well this polish applies rather than to my manicure skills! After Sex lasted well too, but all Essies do on me (I can get around 4 days of wear without chips). I would repurchase this shade, but did knock a lippie off just because I have other shimmery reds that I prefer and reach for more often (Scarlett O'Hara being one of them).

I'm new to Essie but I thought this seemed like an unusual shade of red (plus I'm a sucker for creative nail polish "names"). I love this colour on me, it seems so classy. I'd definitely recommend this polish for those looking for a unique red shade.

Bought a bottle because of all good reviews but had not had a chance to try it. then today went to get a manicure and grabbed the first pretty deep red color that I noticed (just in time for valentine's) - turned out to be "after sex". I did not love it in the artificial light of the salon - it had a fuscia tinge to it which I do not find attractive. However, when I walked outside into the sunlight my nails just sparkled with a beautiful deep red. I still prefer more wine-tinged colors like "Malaga wine" or "bordeaux" but this is quite pretty.
EDIT: I applied this in desperation - did not have a chance to get to a salon the other day. Usually I am a total klutz about doing my own nails, esp with bright colors. This was a shocker - it went on smoothly, easily, no streaks, no smears. I love it!

I'm new to Essie, I have one other polish from this brand. I saw the color first and loved it, then I saw the name... Hmmm, ok. After Sex! It's a great color, I won't describe it but it's definitely a jeweltone shimmer. Essie is by far better than the new OPI formula. It lasts for weeks! I am very impressed.

I totally *love* this color. It's a gorgeous deep cranberry red (not even the slightest hint of orange, a definite cool-tone red) and has the same color shimmer in it, which gives it a cool metallic look. I think my nails look like Christmas baubles and I really love how the color pops against my pale while skin. I can hardly stop admiring my manicure with this color on. I've already done two manicures in a row with this color, since I liked it so much that I wanted to keep wearing it and I've done a pedicure with this as well. I would definitely buy this again (and again and again and again)!
Like all Essie's I've tried so far, it dried quickly and the consistency of the polish was perfect and easy to apply. It was not too thick or gloopy like some polishes.
You can see a photo of this color on my notepad :)

I was wondering about this color for a while, and finally bought it. Its my perfect red, because I cannot wear reds that are just 'red' this color has a slight gold shimmer to it, and is a very deep red. it reminds me of a smooth velvet. It lasted a couple days with only minor chip wear. I would buy this again because this is something I can see myself wearing again and a again.

Usually I'm not much of an Essie girl (they're usually streaky) but After Sex is one of my very fave polishes. On my pale, neutral-to-cool toned hands, it's a rich, deep raspberry. It's the perfect balance of red and berry, and looks great on both tips and toes. The color was surprisingly non-streaky even after just 1 coat, but of course 2 or 3 makes it absolutely perfect.
