I should probably first state that this is 100% a love or hate product. If you dislike the feeling of hairspray, you're not going to like this...not at first anyway.

I had expected Curl Booster to be more like those texture-beach wave-type sprays, but it's not. The best way I can review this product is to explain how I use it and how it feels throughout each step:

1. After my shower at night, I towel dry my hair, apply detangler (when I remember) and comb out my hair. I then flip my head and shake my hair out. Next, I spritz my hair all over (4-5 spritzes usually covers it, I have long hair). I tie my hair up in a topknot and go to sleep and let my hair dry/set overnight (I know, I know, never go to sleep with wet hair-but I'm lazy).
2. When I wake up, I take my hair out of the topknot and shake my curls loose. At this point, they feel very stiff, like I've sprayed them with hairspray. They can tangle very easily, so I sort of finger-comb them the way I want them to hang. The Curl Booster really does enhance my curls and waves; they hold throughout the day, and the sticky, hairspray feel disappears within a few hours of shaking out my hair.
3. At the end of the day my hair has of course fallen a bit flat, so before I go to bed, I brush it out, put it back up in the topknot and spray it twice with the Curl Booster. The next day my curls take on a more beachy, wavy look.

Things to note:
1. This product has a noticeable scent, so if you're particular about the way your hair products smell, you might want to hold off on this one. Fortunately I love the smell-it's very woody and somewhat sweet, and there is a very subtle musk undertone to it. It doesn't fade throughout the day, but rather mellows, and when you flip your hair or shake it out, you can catch the scent. It's not at all chemical-smelling.
2. As aforesaid, the feeling of the spray as you first spritz it is reminiscent of hairspray-it's going to be sticky and stiff when you first apply it. I highly suggest to brush your hair out first, THEN apply the Curl Booster-otherwise you are going to just tangle up your hair, and it's going to hurt to brush it out (and if you're a baby like me, you're going to get irritated and teary-eyed whilst trying to yank a comb through your snarls).

Even though I've given this product 3 lippies, I would repurchase it; the combination of the scent, the staying power, and the way it makes my hair look overpower the less desirable qualities. I'm sure there are better curl enhancers out there, and I'm sure I'll get around to trying them, but this one is the best I've used so far.

I have been trying to find something comparable to the discontinued John Frieda Beach Wave Spray for many years. I've finally found it. I got two major compliments today. One girl I work with said I love your hair -- what's different? Then the payroll guy said, "What perfume are you wearing? It's unbelievable!" I told him that I don't wear perfume and he smelled my hair and went crazy. It smells like Aveda products but a tad different and possibly better. But it isn't just the smell, it's the way it gave my hair a wavy look without making it crunchy or stiff. Very natural. I'm going to try other products in their line too and I'll keep you posted. Here is the description on the bottle:

"Hempz Curl Booster energizes and tightens curls, providing long lasting control and definition. Pure Hemp Seed Oil and Extract combined with hemp proteins and hemp amino acids, help reduce frizz and enhance shine and condition. Hempz Curl Booster with UV-inhibitors help prevent fading of natural and salon enhanced color, while heat shield ingredients help protect against damage from heat styling tools."
