Other reviews that suggested this oil was too thick and/or had an unpleasant fragrance slowed my purchase, but I finally took action when Amazon offered this moderately pricey oil at a great price in its Subscribe & Save program. I am so happy I finally took the leap. I have impossibly dry skin on face and body. My face, neck, hands, arms moisturizing habits are good. But I have never been one to give enough attention to my legs. With this wonderful oil, I can moisurize my legs quickly, so they don't get ignored. I even use the oil on my face when I'm not wearing makeup. I find the oil light, refreshingly fragrant (mandarin and orange scents), and delightfully moisturizing. It totally works for me. I gave only 4 stars because I have no idea what the percentage of sea buckthorn is. I know the bulk of the oil is sesame, so the sea buckthorn must be substantially less than 49%. I don't know what long-term effects this oil will have on my skin, but in the short term it is doing a terrific job. LOVE IT!!! continued >>

This is a little pricey for the regular sized bottle- so I was thrilled to see that vitacost.com sells little 1oz sample sizes of the Weleda products. It's nice to try before you buy for more expensive items. I was a little surprised to find that the consistency of this is more akin to honey than oil. I didn't think that I would like this initally. But I liked the fact that the orange colored oil has an orange/citrus scent- something about the color and the scent matching makes it very pleasant. So, this grew on me and after a few days, I would get out of the tub and look forward to rubbing some orange-scented syrup on my body. There's something "happy" about this product. I didn't notice any significant change in my skin- but this worked just fine as a body oil. But, I must say, plenty of other products (ahem, less expensive ones) work just as well (such as CVS vitamin e oil). But I did like this oil and would have immediately purchased the large bottle if I were rich. LOL! This would be a nice oil to have to rotate with other ones. One of these days, I'll get the big bottle... or maybe ask for it as a gift. I do kind of miss this stuff....

Bought this based on the reviews. At the time, I didn't open it right away because I was still finishing another body moisturizer. When I got a dozen giant, itchy bug bites one night, this was the only thing I had on hand which I thought might help. While it was not effective at relieving the itch right away, using it twice a day as advised with water, helped the swelling and the recovery on my skin. It also smells wonderful. It is strong, but a lovely fresh scent. I like the experience of using this after a shower too. It gives a nice glow as well on my pale skin. I have not yet used this on my face, but as a body moisturizer, it is lovely.
*UPDATE: Jun 2011 Saved this to use in the summer and almost done now. It goes very quickly as a body moisturizer, but I love this product. Too bad I can't get it here. Recommended!*

For starters: I am really pale, but prone to freckling. Think Lohan sans the fakebake. My skin burns easily and does not tan.
I LOVE this stuff. As per the packaging instructions, I combine the oil with a bit of water in my hand before application. The combination absorbs into my skin and feels incredibly nourishing. After about two weeks of regular use my skin feels gorgeous- much smoother. Maybe the vitamin A and vitamin E that naturally occur in sea buckthorn oil are responsible for my more even skin tone and thoroughly moisturized gams. The sheen that the goldeny orange oil imparts on my freckly skin gives me a kind of warm glow that helps to perk up my complexion. I have been using this on my face daily with no breakouts or pore issues. In fact, my pores seem smaller and clearer. And this stuff smells delicious, like sunshine and oranges.
So this is what sealed the deal for me:
I got a pretty bad sunburn on my thighs and the backs of my calves. The next day I started using this 4 times a day, and the lobster red has started to fade into a less neon shade, all without peeling. This is maybe 4 days later, so knock on wood, no peeling later on. This stuff seems to have helped subdue the acute burning pain and made it more bearable to sleep and change clothes. I see healing progress every day.
I found this article about natural strategies for sun protection and it lists sea buckthorn oil as being both a defensive and healing measure.

I project that a bottle would last me two or three months, using it after every shower. As others have said, the packaging is awkward: it's kind of like pouring from a small olive oil bottle. The quality and price of this product overshadow any packaging flaws for me, though.
edit- the way I use this: I pour a little bit into my hand and sort of smear the remaining drops from the bottle sideways onto my palm which keeps my shelf oil free. I drip maybe a teaspoon of water onto my palm and rub the mixture into my skin until it seems decently absorbed, maybe 30 seconds. continued >>

I love this. I'm not sure if this is what cleared up my skin but I will defintely keep using this as my daily regimen. I use this before bed time right after washing my face. It does a great job at keeping my gave moisturized. My skin is super soft and hydrated. Love this product. Have been using for 2 months. It's inexpensive, worth giving it a try.

Super duper stuff. I'm liking Weleda products a lot...they're all natural, they have great ingredients and they work. This oil is thick and super moisturising, the aroma is citrus-mainly orange. I have no qualms with this product at all. So glad I found it. Seriously girls, how much do we love MakeupAlley?!!

I`m sure I`m on my 20th bottle of this already. I absolutely love it. A little goes a long way if you apply this as suggested by Weleda, i.e. massaging it in after shower when skin is still wet (and this is also time-saving). The scent is gorgeous and skin is super smooth and soft afterwards. Although the formula is rich, the skin absorbs this without oily residues. At that, you`re on the safe side with Weleda with respect to the invariably eco-friendly ingredients. I guess this is also the reason they chose a glass bottle but nevertheless I would prefer a plastic dispenser in the shower.

Yes. It's good stuff! The oil is wonderful and hydrates all day and into the next and has essential acids that are great for the skin. Not the best packaging. The scent is orange. I will repurchase.

This is wonderful stuff. The high vitamin A content of the Sea Buckthorn plant smoothes and tones the skin like a mild Retin-A. The deep orange color is due to the carotenoids in the SB, and it lends a beautiful golden cast to my skin. I alternate with this and the Birch Cellulite Oil in summer to look taut, tan, and smooth. It is great for scars and stretch marks as well, and starts to fade them w/in a month. Note: you cannot just slap this on; you must really massage it in deep after a shower. It goes on thick, and a little goes a long way. It soaks in quickly and does not leave you greasy or sticky in the least.

What can I say other than that this is an absolutely amazing body oil! I bought it on a whim after reading up on the cosmetic benefits of Sea Buckthorn oil, and I'm so glad that I did! After I shower I combine this with a vitamin e lotion, and I massage the mixture into my skin. The oil soaks right into my skin and leaves me smooth and soft for days! The only downside to this is that it has a rather strong smell to it (very citrusy), which can be a hassle if you are putting it on before you go out. However, the smell does wear off. Anyway, I will definitely keep repurchasing this!

OOOOH I so love this. I bought this oil after searching on MUA for a good body oil and I thought I just give Weleda a try. Weleda is totally new to me, I've never used any products of this brand before but I'm glad I found this super product. It has a strong scent when you apply it at first, but after a few minutes it fades away (thank God, the scent is not horrible but I don't want to smell like oranges all day)
Keep in mind that this is an oil, so it leaves your skin a bit greasy (but that's just what I like about it, my skin is radiant and glowing all day long).
What I like the most about it is that it leaves a nice golden glow on my skin. It's hard to explain, you'll have to try it to know what I mean. My skin looks healthier. Oh I'm so in love with this oil!!
Here in Belgium, bottles are sold at 13 euro.
UPDATE one day later: I've used this oil overnight and when I woke up this morning my skin was still moisterized! Can't believe how good this product is! The smell was totally gone (after a few minutes already) but for me that's a good thing. I like the fact that it smells so nice when you first put it on but I don't need the scent of oranges following me throughout the day. If you have dry skin and you are searching for a good body oil. Go buy this one, you won't regret it!!!

Wonderful, wonderful product. My english is not good enough to praise this as much as it deserves. I use this as a once-a-week intensive care for my body, after exfoliating, and it's pure luxury. Makes my skin soft, smooth, healthy looking, firm and moisturized. It also gives my skin a nice healthy tone (the oil is yellow). I only wish Weleda would make this in a bigger bottle and with a pump dispenser. I always feel clumsy pouring the oil from a glass bottle.. haven't dropped it yet but I'm always afraid I will.. *knocks on wood*

LOVE IT. This oil smells great- likes oranges and grapefruits, in ultra moisturizing, yet no heavy oily residue, though there is some light residue, I mean it's an oil, right? It absorbs quickly when my skin is damp after a shower or bath. It leaves a natural golden shimmer on my skin, which I love. it helps with my Keratosis Pilarsis. My only complaints: cost and the desire to have a touch of vanilla absolute oil added to make it smell more like a creamsicle, but those are minor issues based on how good this stuff is.

My HG body oil. I do tend to use the lotion more as it's a bit less messy but they both smell divine. Good value for money and lovce the packaging as well (although it's not suitable for travel).

Great body moisturizer - this is my first winter in an even colder part of the Northeast, and it's the only thing I've found that really hydrates and soothes my very dry, eczema-prone skin. I just wish it was less expensive, but I guess, considering its purity and quality, it's worth it. I'm definitely repurchasing it.

Well, I am giving this a good review, for now. I just bought it yesterday so haev only used it twice. I am in search of a natural oil type moisturizer for my acne prone fry skin. I bought coconut oil, but sense have found out that it is a 4 on the comodogenic scale, so will be using that for my body, baths...etc. Then bought Almond oil and used it for about a week- I don't think it helped as much as it has for some others. I actually think it has clogged my pores. My skin is looking yuckier since I moved from Florida to Colorado and am desperate to find something that will work.
EDIT: Eh, 2 days later and I am afraid this is not the miracle product I had hoped for. I think I need to give up trying oils on my face...they just don't seem to give me good results, and I think they are clogging my pores. But...it does smell devine, so I will probably add this to my body lotion or baths...or whatever else I can think of. Just NOT face. :)
