I only used the mini GWP size. It is so far away from the original Faux Cils Mascara, more fluid. It even does not give volume as the name suggests.

I really like this mascara, and it smells like roses! It can be a little clumpy but is easily fixable with a lash wand. I prefer super volume and this delivers! Lovely gold packaging. A tad expensive. I'd repurchase!

Nice brush that separates lashes while giving lots of non-clumpy volume. I like how it defines each lash with a thick but believable coat of deep black, and I like its perfect, neither too wet nor dry, texture. Still, I don't like that it's so strongly perfumed -- I smell its soapy rose scent long after application. (I'm pregnant, so my nose is very sensitive.) To be fair, it hasn't irritated my eyes, but I don't see myself rushing to buy the full size after I finish my GWP tube.

Yes, this does leave lashes clumpy, but for me, it makes lashes appear thicker, so I have learned to work with it. It is a very wet mascara.

I liked the idea of the YSL's favorite mascara coming out in an even more dramatic version.
But this one is not as good as the classic YSL Faux Cils. It does deliver a dramatic result when it's fresh but it smudges more and also it gets too sticky and clumpy after a while.
Will not buy again, prefer the old YSL or Lancome Hypnose.

This mascara is awful. Fortunatly I got a free sample but it makes lashes clumpy and stick together. Definately will not buy.

This is my ULTIMATE mascara. I have tried almost every high end mascara there is. I find this is more volumizing than armani eyes to kill, diorshow, chanel imitable. I use dior primer and this and I get tons of compliments on my lashes, lots asking if they are fake! I can't believe how many bad reviews this has gotten! I am finally finished my life long mascara hunt!

Ok, so if you want pretty, fluttery lashes then this mascara is NOT for you. It is super thick and yes, can cause clumps. But it makes my lashes thicker and blacker than any other mascara. I love how thick and long it makes my top lashes look but I hate putting it on the lower lahes because it does look a bit clumpy. One thing that really drives me nuts is clumps falling down under my eye, but I'm yet to find a volumising mascara that doesn't do that. I find this better than faux effet in noir radical, although applied lightly that can look a lot more natural whereas volume shocking can not look natural. Ever. Which is why I like it.

The best ever....worth every penny when you consider that an average mascara will set you back about £10....This is amazing for making lashes look thicker and longer and does nit irritate sensitive eyes...

Unfortunately, this new version of the faux cils does not compare with the first one. It only takes one swipe and you have clumps all over your lashes. Not only it clumps, but it also falls out A LOT. I had mascara everywhere in my face by mid day. For that price range, I was expecting a lot better. I do not recommend at all.

My boyfriend got me this for Christmas, or I'd never have tried it. It makes my lashes look super long, thick and dramatic like nothing else I've ever tried. I will totally buy it again when I run out. Love it!

I really wanted to not like this product, because of the price! I had a sephora gift card and bought this thinking if I didn't like it I could return it....but i LOVE it. it hasn't gotten good reviews, but i love it. I have worn it for +8 hours with no smudges. I have long lashes, not very think, but this mascara makes my lashes look like I'm wearing falsies! I would repurchase if i have a Sephora giftcard but I just cant get over the price!

Great mascara! Gives me volume, lenght and curl like I have not seen with any other mascara ( dior, lancome, clinique, benefit, loreal etc). I like the wetness as it gives you time to work with it and add more layers. You will need to use a seperate lash comb otherwise it gets too clumpy. It does not smudge, flake or run. I did not like the original faux cils as it was way too dry and gave me racoon eyes, Shocking is soooo much better.

I'm really surprised with the negative reviews on this! I had read them all before, so when I was able to get a sample as a 100 point perk at Sephora, I went for it so I could try it without shelling out $30. I'm so happy I decided to, because I love it! I'd just run out of my HG MUFE Smoky Lash, which became so dried out it was impossible to use (however, this was only after months, and I still recommend it wholeheartedly) when this sample came into my life. Yes, it is definitely a "wet" formula, but I rather like it for once. I have extremely long, full and curled lashes, so it will leave some marks on my brow bone but they're easily removed.
I do find it doesn't give me a lot of crazy drama like Smoky Lash, but it does make the lashes look significant and dramatic without being over the top. For me it's perfect for work or a casual night out, though if I'm going all-out for a special occasion, I'd reach for Smoky Lash still.
It is rose scented which doesn't bother me but may affect those with sensitive sniffers or allgeries.
Overall it's a great mascara - definition, color, separation, and a beautiful scent all in a fantastic package! I especially love how "Shocking" is scribbled down the side! The beautiful gold tube makes it super easy to spot when I travel with my black hole of a makeup kit!

This product actually does an almost perfect job with my lashes accept its a very wet formula and got very messy for me I like the brush its just right. No flakes which is great it gave very nice drama to my lashes but the smell is awful its like this rose smell but gross and it was way to overwelming for me plus it was just to messy.

This is a great dramatic effect mascara, with one horrible flaw; the wand. love the formula, HATE the wand.
When I tried it on for the first time at Sephora using one of their clean sample wands, it was indeed shocking (particularly compared to the un-made eye). it looked as if I had put false eyelashes on just one of my eyes. I was thrilled and so i bought it, even though at $30 it is pretty damn expensive.
But when I got it home and tried it the results were TERRIBLE. It clumped like nobody's business- We are talking a a serious case of tarantula eyes- globby, sticky, flakey and horrible. No matter how much I tried to scrape off the wand it was just coated in goop and the tiny little bristles could not accomodate all that paint.
So the following day I went back to Sephora and helped myself to a handful of the sample wands (no, I don't feel bad about it. they charged me $30 for mascara, the least they can do is throw in the wands). They have made a world of difference! When applied with the clean sephora wand there is no more clumpy, gooey mess- just well defined, well separated, long lashes. I keep a couple in my makeup bag and wash them with soap and water after use. No biggy.
So my recommendation is to try the mascara, but know you need to grab a handful of use-and-toss sample wands to make it worth while.

I'm a little surprised by all the negative reviews on this one - I personally adore this mascara - in fact, it's one of my mascara HGs (yes, I have more than one.....I can't stop myself!). The formula is extremely black, and yes, it is rather 'wet,' but this is one of the mascaras that I can swipe on and it makes my lashes look absolutely insane. It also smells like roses, which I love. The packaging is tres chic, and yes, it is expensive, but because it really does deliver, I don't mind shelling out for it. I've had my tube since early November of 2011, and it's still very much like the day I bought it. It hasn't dried out at all. I'm not a huge YSL junkie but this mascara is a definite favorite and I will repurchase over and over again.

This was a great mascara for about 2 weeks. Then it dried out so bad I had to toss it. The packaging is gorgeous, the formula reminds me of DiorShow but a little thicker maybe. Its very very black which I love. But this is the second YSL mascara I have spurged on and they both seemed to dry out way too fast. I've never had this problem with any other brand so I know its not something I'm doing. Save your money unless you have the luxury to purchase a new one every few weeks. I wish this wasn't the case bc I do love the formula, wand and especially the luxe gold packaging.

I am so tempted to write a "funny" review of how shocked I was with this mascara. I'll spare you all my witty humor. Sigh. It's just too wet, as others have said. The bristles are short which only makes it clumpier when applied. I've even been using this for 3 months and it's still a gloppy mess. The kicker is that after I comb it through over and over again with my tweezerman, my lashes are thick and long and very black. But I just cannot recommend a product that is so difficult to apply....or repurchase said product! Back to Lights, Camera, Lashes or Mally. Sidenote--I do find this much easier to apply after Dior's primer first. Who knows why?!

At first I loved this mascara. It's very "wet" and gives a lot, and I was asked if I had fake eyelashes on because it really had that effect. After 3 weeks it suddenly dies on me, it gets drier, starts clumping, flaking, all the things a mascara should not. I went back to the store where I bought it and was given a new "Shocking" because chances were it was something wrong with the first one. Again the false lash-effect, about 3 weeks passes by and I had the same problem (mind that I never left the mascara lying around open and I don't "pump" mascaras). This mascara is like a bad relationship, everything is perfect in the beginning and it just goes downhill from there. But the beginning was really wonderful so 3/5 for the good times.
Waste of money, go find a mascara that will make you happy in the long run.
