For me, this product was great. I don't remember what I had before this, but I remember that is was a crappy $20 straightener. After that one broke I went shopping for a new one at sallys. The cashier showed me this one and I was very content. I got it at a fairly cheap price of $50.
When I got home I was very pleased with what I saw: swivel chord, self-turn off, niftly circle pad heat changer, and so on. I was very impressed compared to what I had before, especially considering the price.
I have had it for 4 years and it has never disappointed me. Before, it took a good 25 minutes to straighten my semi-long and thick hair and with this one it only took 15.
I can honestly say that I had no complaints. My opinion I guess could be a little bias seeing as how I have never used anything nicer than this one, but considering the price and the features it is a pretty promising product when on a budget.
The only reason why I'm getting a new one now is because I stepped on it and it snapped in half (which would happen with basically any flat iron). I would suggest it for anyone in need of a good, cheap flat iron.

Was bought as a gift almost a year ago. Worked great for a while, but now it literally fries the ends of my hair. I wont even straighten my hair with it anymore.

I've been using this flat iron for a year n half now and I think its caused my hair to stop growing, it snags your hair and is very pricy, do not purchase

PROS: Like the swivel cord and that the cord is long. Like the sliding plates. Love the auto shut off. Like that there is a good range of heat settings. Quite a bit cheaper than a CHI. Much better heat settings (on the low end) for my fine and very damaged hair. My hair does not get stuck (but it is fine, so maybe that makes a difference?)
CONS: If not careful you can burn your hands when because the plates extend to the side a bit, but I'm willing to put up with that because the blades being shaped that way allow me to use my iron to make waves with it when I want to.
ALTERNATES: Andis has a great and cheap little flat iron, but the coating wears off pretty quick, so I like this better.
***In reading the other reviews, it almost makes me wonder if they are reviewing a different product than I am. The buttons are not where I place my hands to use the iron, and they do not get in my way.***

I have straight hair, so I really don't need a heavy- duty flat iron. However, I bought this at sally's because I wanted a new one and this was on sale :)
It's a nice design- lightweight and easy to use. However, it does snag my hair if I'm not careful :( overall, I don't think I'd buy this again because there are other great flat irons out there that DONT snag hair :)
EDIT:
So, I'm taking the flat iron back today... It snags my hair A TON, and the buttons are right where my fingers are, so I'm constantly turning off or turning down the heat... very frustrating. The design is really poor quality. It's so easy to get your hair caught in it, and the buttons really need to be placed better. I had such high hopes for this product, but it's really just a huge dissapointment.

UPDATE: I ended up returning this iron. It seemed to work great, but after a few hours I had weird sections of hair that decided to un-straighten. For someone with fine, wavy hair I thought this was unacceptable, so it went back to the store.

I think this is a great flat iron from Sally's. I bought this after buying the Solia 1 1/4" flat iron and HATING it. This Tool Science flat iron cost me about $70 with my Sally's card and a two year warranty - pretty good.
PROS:
- It's a pretty color. :)
- The material it's made out of is this weird sort of soft plastic that's really easy to grip. It's ergonomically shaped so holding it is really easy when ironing.
- Swivel cord with attached cord wrapper thingie when not in use - yay!
- Heats up to 430 degrees.
- Plates don't snag hair.
- Thin width allows you to get closer to the root.
- There's a "Power" button located in the middle of the iron that you don't bump when ironing. The temperature setting is on a little dial that you turn; it's also pretty difficult to bump this while ironing. My old flat iron kept turning off because I kept accidentally hitting the power button while using it.
- Doesn't leave my hair static-y.
- Comes with a 2 year warranty for $8! Can't beat it. Also, it's returnable within 60 days.
CONS:
- I guess it's a little expensive considering that it's coming from Sally's, but whatever.
- Doesn't get as hot as some flat irons; my old one got up to 450 degrees (but I'm not sure if that's necessary).
All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase. Hopefully it'll last me a nice long while - I'm pleased so far!
