Everyday Shea: Shea Butter - Unscented

I love shea butter but don’t use it as often as I should because it takes a little time to work it into the skin. I love coconut oil but it leaves my skin shiny and isn’t hydrating enough in the winter, and sometimes I don’t want to smell like coconut. This is the best of both worlds! The texture is perfect - firm but creamy like a whipped butter and easy to work with. It says it is unrefined but I am not picking up any coconut scent, and I haven’t gotten any smoky smelling shea butter from Alaffia in a few years. Yes, this is no different than what can be made at home, but I don’t want to deal with the mess or take the time to whip my own shea butter & coconut oil together. i also find it reasonably priced as that big blue store of consumerism sells it at around 2/3 of the price on Alaffia’s website.

Africa's Secret All-In-One Skin Treatment Shea Butter Coconut Oil

This is an excellent “all purpose” skin balm for anyone interested in trying a product with bee ingredients because it has three types of bee ingredients: honey, beeswax, pollen, propolis and royal jelly. The base ingredients (shea butter, coconut oil and sesame seed oil) are all rich and hydrating as well. I use this mainly on my hands and face as an overnight treatment because it leaves a greasy residue behind... but then again I do apply products generously. It has an earthy unusual scent from the neem oil so I recommend looking for it at a local health food store to give it a whiff before buying. I agree with prior reviewers about the consistency, I have gotten a jar where the shea butter was grainy and the whole thing kind of lumpy (best description I can come up with is a dijon mustard) and I found it hard to work with. However, my current jar is as smooth as butter. The only thing I can figure out that significantly affects this is the area of the country (USA) where I bought it, the grainy ones occurring most in the southeast where transporting products subject them to intense heat during summer months.

For the gods sake! I can't believe with what kind of trash I ended up paying this for $20!!! When I came to the shop I just finished both Oway and Oribe I use. While waiting for new order with already greasy hair I wanted something temporary. Something to wash my hair for a few days to keep it clean and didn't want a drug store shit. Ok. The consistency to be specific is like conditioner. You wash hair with conditioner - Ups sorry shampoo.. Than you rinse it..put actual conditioner..wash it. And than wait for the hair to dry if ever! Because it's fucking Greasy that I am not sure if it even will dry. i am so upset and will never buy this brand again. I don't care how organic it is if it can't wash my hair. Luckily I didn't have any meeting the next day. I could go shit myself with Greasy hair. Usually I read each review but at this case I just thought that at Mothers I can blindly take any shampoo that cleans hair.. Well I was wrong. Grrrrr!!!! Don't buy!!!
