I am a lip balm junkie, so to make my cart tot up to the free shipping amount, I threw this in. No. No, no, no.
This is a very solid lip balm, that you need to warm with your fingers slightly to use, and as you dip (I got the pot version) you get an extremely thin layer of oil on your finger. Much harder than something like rose salve (which I love, btw), more like beeswax, but more oily on application. Absorbs pretty quickly into the lips, as an oil does (if you've ever tried putting straight vit E oil or rose hip oil or something on your lips).
The smell is strong and herbal but not really pleasant. I didn't like it, and the performance of the wax was not anything near what it would have had to be for me to tolerate the smell.
I returned this, and would recommend as an alternative the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip protectant (a solid tube balm that leaves a thin, quickly absorbed layer) any Labello chapstick, shea butter (try L'Occitane's), or, better yet, the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour skin protectant, and just use it on your lips. This is the best overnight lip treatment I have found, with something like the consistency of rose salve (but it smells of grapefruit).

One word - "Lanolin". I am allergic to this...horribly. I love MB's stuff, but not this.

I have the one in a tube without SPF, and I hate it. The smell is really strong and off-putting to me, and it's extremely oily. The only time I feel comfortable using it is right before bed, and I've found that it doesn't actually soften my lips at all or help how chapped they are. In fact, I think they've gotten worse since I began using this.

I live in the Rocky Mountains - a high desert region. It is drier than all-get-out - zero humidity, lots of sun. My lips get so bad they develop multiple massive cracks that constantly bleed and I get those gnarly ones in the corners of my mouth that are so large anyone near me can see them. Sad when you are scared of yawning because it hurts too bad.
This is the only stuff that I have ever found that works. Period. Yes, it doesn't smell or taste that great, and it is kinda greasy and requires somewhat frequent reapplication. But if it is the only thing that stops my lips from giving off dime sized bloody flakes, I'll take it. The only thing I care about is that I can now yawn without pain and my lips are smooth as a baby's butt. Even my manly boyfriend, who eschews all facial products/cleansers/lotions/balms/etc, appreciates this stuff enough to carry it around.

I bought the non-spf tube version, and its an ok balm. My biggest qualm is that its very greasy (like petroleum jelly but more moisturizing) and it broke apart in the tube. Also there is hardly any staying power. There are better moisturizing balms out there that are not as messy.

I'm reviewing the SPF 15 one. It is actually a bit too oily for my taste, very moisturizing though. Replaces my daily lipgloss :D

I prefer the non spf version to this. Without SPF, this is an addictive balm that's just perfect... with spf, it's really gritty... not pleasant. $7 tops. I may go back to soft lips though... it's easier to get my hands on.
FYI!! Keep out of any heat! It will melt.

I have very dry lips...always chapped. I love love love this lip balm. Very balmy and keeps my lips nice and moist. Smell isn't that great, but it's almost like a natural, unscented scent. Highly recommend

This is a good lip balm - very moisturising and stays on. I don't really like the smell though.

Nope, not for me. For some reason, I thought this would be less greasy than Kiehl's #1, but I was wrong. And unlike Kiehls, it has an unappealing scent and, I think, a bad taste. I've moved on to Nuxe, which is much more expensive, but stays on my lips about 20 times longer than this stuff. I'd use any d/s lip balm before I use this one again. I like the packaging, though, and there are other MB products I really like, just not this one.

Bio: Dry dry dry lips, constantly applying lip balm
Pros: Slips on like a dream, you only need a little
Super moisturizing
Tube will last and last
Cons: Not scented/no taste
Overall: Love this product, it's a little pricey for a lip balm but boy is it worth it! This is the only thing that has outranked my trusty CO Bigelow lip balm- except this one is solid and in a tube, even better! Plus it's not too waxy, not too slippery so I'm not having to reapply every 5 minutes. Love it!

I have lips that tend to get very dry from allergies and I work in a department store where the airconditioner is brutal. Im also like many of the lip balm reviwers here, always looking for that perfect lip balm. Id say this is my HG, Ive tried quite a few, including the prada shielding balm which was the biggest marketing ploy ive ever been part of haha. Anyway, purchased at Kit Cosmetics in Sydney City at $12.50 a stick..Im on my third stick of this, not pot because I hate having to put my dirty fingers in it. This is the only lipbalm I have tried which is not sticky, at all, there is just no way you could see this as sticky. Its a very soft wax, but again not the "sticky" type of wax. It melts onto your lips, I love that, but I hate that if you carry it in your pocket it melts with the heat of your body. There is a very slight rose smell, I dont mind it, but my boyfriend hates it and calls it the "grandma smell". It stays on for maybe twenty minutes, but it doesnt bother me, because my lips stay hydrated for a good three to four hours after. Ive tried reapplying as soon as it fades off but it seems to ony dry my lips faster and waste product. What makes me take off one lippy is because It seems that some of the sticks arent as good as the others, out of the three I had purchased, one didn't hydrate my lips, I thought it may have being my fault, but this lasted the whole two and half months I had the stick, and when I bought a I new one, problem solved. I also loved the fact that it is all natural the ingrediants are Lanolin, Palm Oil, Mineral Oil, Paraffin, Rose Hips Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Beeswax, Rose Petals Extract. I would really like to try the Dr. Hauschka Lip Balm stick, but untill then I'll be happily using this.

I have this in stick form. It melts incredibly easy, which is both good and bad. It's not so great because even just carrying it around in my pocket makes it runny and if I forget and leave it in my car...well that's just it for the stick. What's good about it melting easily is that it can be reformed into something resembling its original shape and it also seems to just melt into the skin. It imparts a glossy shine on the mouth. I also like to dab a bit around my eyes for some dewiness and added moisture.

Yet another amazing Mario Badescu product! I bought the Lip Wax in a jar. For starters, the little jar is cute, and in MB fashion, it is plain with a green and white label affixed to the top. (I really love their packaging, it is so no nonsense.) The product itself smells slightly rosey, but I have found that it fades quickly when applied to my lips. This stuff really isn't waxy at all...which is funny since it is called Lip Wax! It goes on very smooth and lasts for a while. Since it has the rosey scent, I don't have the desire to lick it off. I would rebuy this, and I really want to try the one with SPF, since it is scented with Black Currant.

yet another awesome mario badescu product. i got the lip wax in the tub, with no spf. the smell reminds me of rosebud salve (i don't like rosebud salve because i find the petroleum base too greasy, but this is beeswax based so less greasy). this stuff has a really nice, smooth texture and is moisturizing (my lips aren't super dry, but it makes them smooth and soft). my new hg lip balm!

Of all the lip balms I've tried over the years, this is my HG. Fabulous texture applies more smoothly than any other, and it comes in a tube which is key for me. Before, I'd settled on Kiehl'ls Baby Lip Balm, which now by compairson with Lip Wax seems lumpy and messy.
Lip Wax is misnamed, because it's not at all waxy. And at $5/tube ($7 w/SPF), it's a bargain. I bought a handful and tossed my others. I recommend it highly.

This is the only product I've tried from MB, that I didn't like. My lips are constantly chapped and I have LITERALLY tried EVERYTHING. I found a product that I loved called Nourish My Lips. When I started using MB products on my face , I thought I'd give this a try. I wasted my money on this. It did absolutely nothing for my lips, I HATED IT! I gave the rest to my sister and went back to the NML. I learned my lesson, stick with what works.

At first I liked this balm because it looked very shiny on my lips, but it is just wayy to watery. It shouldn't be called lip wax because the formula is not waxy enough - I end up eating it because it slides into my mouth. Doesn't taste too good. :P

I feel like a broken record, but this is another one of many favorite products from MB. Lip Wax is a great lip balm and believe me, I've tried them all, from Prada to Chapstick to Aesop to Carmex. It actually moisturizes my lips and doesn't leave them dry an hour later. My only complaint is that it smells a little waxy, but only upon application...the scent is not noticeable after you actually put it on. Its a great balm for wearing under lipstick. I also love that you can get it in a pot (my preference) or a stick (my SO uses the stick) and you can even get it with added SPF. Good stuff.

Not the worst I've tried, but it's up there. The scent is unpleasant, and it's slippery to the point where my lips felt wet all the time, but not in a good way. Overpriced, will not buy again.
