Treatments -Qtica -Solid Gold Anti-Bacterial Oil Gel

on 2/16/2018 1:39:00 AM

I received this as part of a Zoya mystery box kit. I love the idea and ease of a gel vs oil. It applies very well and melts into the cuticle. I'm going to have to pass this on to a friend, because it burns and stings my super-sensitive skin. I think most people won't have issues with it, but if you have extremely sensitive skin or react to fragrance you might not be able to use it. I also disliked the smell, possibly the tea tree oil in it. I did love the gel formula that melted well though. This just isn't for me. I prefer plain apricot oil (decanted into an empty polish bottle to apply).

Lip Treatments -Qtica -Intense Lip Repair Balm

on 2/13/2017 11:27:00 AM

My usual lip savior nuxe, was just not able to redeem my painfully dry cracked lips this winter. It would ease the pain while wearing, but once it wore off, lips had no improvement. The qtica ounce per ounce, is more expensive than the nuxe. But it's healing powers are proportionately greater, and it is psychologically easier to lay out $12 for the smaller tube than $20 for the little nuxe jar
Lanolin is the first ingredient, but this balm is easier to work with than pure lanolin while still delivering all the benefits. There is camphor way down on the list, so has a slight odor and bit of pain numbing, but nothing on the order of Carmex, and fades quickly. The creme is very stiff in tube - carry it in front pants pocket and it softens up. The balm is white, but goes on sheer so your lip color shows through and fairly high gloss finish. (for this relief it could turn my lips baby poop green and I wouldn't bat an eye)

What I most appreciate is the tenacity of this balm - like a suit of armor against the bitter cold winds where I live. Thick and has enough tack to really stay on the lips, but not annoyingly sticky. After one use I felt huge improvement in lip condition: suppleness restored and super protection for tender new skin below the peeling layers. Also makes those torn exposed skin layers easier to tolerate, sortof binds them back down to the skin below, and then when they do exfoliate, it is gentler and not tearing new skin off with it. Nothing but gratitude for this balm!

Body Scrubs -Qtica -Smart Spa Grapefruit Surprise Sugar Scrub

on 1/20/2017 3:00:00 AM

I reviewed the Lemon Dream scent in the past, having received it as a GWP and liked it. Well, I'm here to tell you that Grapefruit Surprise hung the moon.

Since my review of Lemon Dream, the plastic microbeads have been eliminated (from all products, I believe, by law in the U.S.) Grapefruit Surprise is a pure sugar scrub with a zesty, tangy, invigorating pink grapefruit scent. The pure sugar base prevents overenthusiastic scrubbing by melting away just quickly enough - the new formula is different to work with, but definitely gentler and therefore preferable (to me) for all parts other than feet.

I really love this kind of no-residue scrub, and, unlike simple oil and sugar scrubs that are cheap and easy to make at home, I don't know how I'd replace this one if I couldn't get it any more. You have to moisturize after, of course, but I really like how there's finally a product I can use on both my face and body. Of course, there are still 5-6 of the other scents that I want to try, but I'm predicting Grapefruit Surprise will be my favorite in the end.

Treatments -Qtica -Cuticle treatment cream

I have to say that I really like this cuticle balm. This is the first product of this type that I have tried and I am glad that I did as my cuticles and lips have benefited greatly since I started using this.

I have never been one for cuticle oil as I find it too greasy and the ones that I have tried generally absorb poorly. This balm on the other hand isn't greasy at all and absorbs quickly. Additionally I like that it is much easier to put in your purse to take with you than the standard cuticle oil.

This balm has the texture of slightly softer chapstick. IMO it isn't super creamy but it is still easy to apply and it absorbs quickly with little rubbing on my part. As this is highly concentrated you only need to use a very small amount. I don't find this product sticky at all when used sparingly, but I think if you apply too much it would be on the sticky side.

Since applying this every night before bed I have noticed a huge difference in my cuticles. The dead dry skin is gone. Additionally, I have been using this on my lips at night and it has made a major difference. They are soft and smooth which makes daytime lippies look better.

The fragrance is quite light and to me non offensive. It doesn't seem to linger and that is a plus in my book.

This balm comes packaged in a small round jar with a screw up lid. There is nothing innovative or interesting about the packaging aside to say that it makes it convenient to use and carry with you.

I purchased the .5 oz jar of balm which normally runs $18.00 per jar. (They also have a .25 oz jar for $14.00.) Fortunately I decided to try this product during Zoya's recent Black Friday sale so I got it 70% off for a total of $5.40. My only regret is that I wished that I had purchased several more at that price.

Even though costly, I would pay full price for this product as I really am impressed with it's overall performance.

Body Scrubs -Qtica -Lemon Dream Sugar Scrub

I'm surprised there aren't any reviews of this, as it was a full-sized GWP during one of Zoya's promotions.

This is a great scrub to use in the shower, since there's no oily residue. It comes out of the tube as a thick gel, not too liquid or too solid. The particles are a perfect size and texture for body skin - I use it on my arms when they feel a bit rough, or my underarms and legs before shaving. It does have a vague, sweet lemon scent - it's a bit like rubbing myself down with frozen lemonade, minus the cold part.

My only gripes are that a) the lid doesn't snap shut completely, and b) US$18 for 7-oz. tube is ridiculous. Nonetheless, I like this scrub enough to pony up. I'm looking forward to trying the Lime Zest, Grapefruit Surprise, and Lemongrass Ginger scents in the future.
