Don't wear this mascara if you're going to be around water sweat alot, or if you know you're going to shed some serious water works because it stings REALLLY BADDLY if this gets into your eyes. It literally felt like lemon juice or something very chemical seeping into my retinas. This makes no sense to me because the claim is supposed to be that it is "organic" yet somehow it's hard to believe if it stings my eyes like crazy. Maybe it's just me? I didn't think this mascara justifies its own name of "Fake out". If you have short lashes like mine, it doesn't really volumize or lengthen to make them look like Falsies. I will say that it does give it a nice natural non clumpy look, which is good for everyday wear. Overall, give it a try if you want, but if you really want a natural mascara that volumizes and thickens lashes I would try 100percent pure cosmetics. They have an awesome mascara that's non toxic and made my eyes look like I was wearing falsies and it did not sting at all.

I think anyone having issues with this mascara is not giving it enough time. Some mascaras work better after they dry out a bit, and I really think that applies to this one.

I agree, initially it is NOT a great mascara; but, once you let it dry out a bit I think it is pretty good. I wear every mascara over CG Lashblast Length in the yellow tube as I feel that is the best 'priming' mascara for my lashes. After the first coat of this mascara over the 'primer' I have decent volume but very natural looking. After the second coat (i always apply 2 anyway) my lashes are dark, smokey and voluminous. No smudging and very, very minor flaking after 8-10 hours of use.

The brush reminds me of the CG Lashblast Volume one, maybe just a tad bit bigger around.

::sigh:: This is why I should know to always check MUA reviews BEFORE buying something. Granted, I got this mascara for less than 5 USD on sale, but it's not even worth that...

First off, we have the "brush" - and I use that term very loosely. It resembles a miniature, rubber replica of a medieval weapon and I imagine a tiny mace or spiked bat would apply mascara about as well. It makes no sense and is so BIG the only place I can consistently apply mascara with it is all over my eyelids. I can only suppose the folks at PF were sitting around a fire pit in the desert, high on peyote, when they thought up this brush design.

For my first attempt, I applied this mascara with the included brush and no lash primer. It took many minutes of very careful application and much cleanup to get a wash of dry, clumpy black coating my lashes. Not only did I not notice any lengthening, but my lashes actually appeared a bit shorter. Perhaps the mascara didn't make it all the way to the ends. I also combed for a good while between coats and after application but was unsuccessful at fully removing the flakes and clumps that appeared the instant this stuff touched my lashes. On the plus side, clean up is pretty easy - I was able to wipe off all of my out of place smudges with just a dry q-tip. I wore this unflattering look to work that night (because I don't much care what I look like at work) and had at least a flake or two (or 4 or 5) to clean up each time I looked in a mirror. The dark black color though, did last until I washed it off.

Attempt #2 was with the same torture device ::ahem:: BRUSH but over my go-to primer, Jane Iredale Pure Lash Conditioner. Still dry, flaky and clumpy from the get-go with little to be done to remedy the situation. My lashes did appear lengthened and thicked BUT not a false lash look at all and no more dramatic than ANY mascara over the same primer - thus, credit for the added drama goes to JI, not PF. With primer there was less flaking throughout the night, but still some.

Third times the charm? For my final trial tonight, I used the JI primer and a random spoolie brush I have that is more like what comes to mind when someone says "mascara wand" rather than "bludgeoning stick." It was, as expected, easier to apply with a normal brush, though still dry and flaky and I still have some clumps, though not as many. I have a bit of added drama as well, but still not the "fake out" the product name would imply (unless, by "fake" they mean "it will be obvious to everyone that you are wearing thick, clumpy, black mascara, even from a moderate distance").

Other notes:

Well, the product doesn't irritate my eyes in the traditional sense. The flakes that contantly fall into them are a nuisance though and are irritating in much the same way getting sand in your eyes would be.

Haven't had smudging issues so it stays put but it also washes off quite easily with my usual oil cleanser.

Overall: Avoid it. I wish I had. This much work to make a mascara just kinda wearable is unacceptable. Even though I got this for less than half price, I still feel ripped off. I can't imagine going through all of this trouble over and over again in order to use it up, so it will likely end up in the trash next time I open my makeup case.

I honestly think this is the worst mascara I have ever bought. This does nothing for my lashes, I would have to use multiple coats, were talking 3 to 4 to get a result. I am a mascara nut, always looking for a false lash effect. This mascara flakes off so easily and gets into your eyes. I had Gotten a smudge on my waterline and my eyes literally felt like they were on fire. I immediately had to run to the sink and wash it off my eyes and out of them. I do not recommend this at all.

I really went back and forth with giving this either a 1 or a 2 for a rating, but I realized a 1 may be a little harsh, because it does one thing very well.. it can maintain a curl. But that is as far as I go when it comes to complimenting this mascara. It states that it doesn't clump or flake. That couldn't be further from the truth. Within 2 hours, this mascara is all over my lower lid. Just about the worst mascara I have come across when it comes to flaking. The brush is way too big. I can't get close enough to the root. As for its name, "fake out," it doesn't fake anything. You need many many coats for a dramatic lash effect. My lashes get lost in a smokey eye look (and I have really long lashes). But the mascara just doesn't cut it. I love that it's natural, but need to find another mascara. I wouldn't buy this product again, and wouldn't recommend it for anyone who wants a "fake out" appearance.

Bottom-line: It's an ok mascara. Nothing great. It doesn't volumize as much as CG Lash Blast. This formula is supposed to have fibers in it, but the formula is exactly the same as the PF Jumbo Lash mascara (the green one). For a better fiber mascara, I prefer Falsies. I'm done with trying PF's overpriced mascaras.

Lash Fake Out is the newest addition to Physician's Formula's Organic Wear Mascara line. I previously reviewed the original Organic Wear Mascara and didn't really love it. Why'd I buy another? Well, this mascara had a rebate tag on it, so you essentially get it for free. Physicians Formula claims that their Lash Fake Out mascara is the "first ever mascara with 100% natural origin lash extension fibers for the full on fringe of false lashes without the irritation. The innovative formula amplifies lashes volume, length, and curl. Oversized brush creates a fabulous false lash effect instantly!" Yeah, ok Physicians Formula. Supposedly this mascara contains nylon fibers, silk cotton powder, and pine tree fibers to bind the formula to the lashes and corn based "flexifilm" to retain and enhance curl. This mascara is 100% natural, which 70% of the ingredients are produced by certified organic farms. This, and all Physicians Formula mascaras are fragrance free, hypoallergenic, and ophthalmologist tested, and safe for contact lense wearers. Physicians Formula is a cruelty free brand. This mascara was made in America. I bought my tube of Organic Wear Lash Fake Out at Ulta for $9.98, which is pretty pricey, but like I mentioned before, I'll be receiving a rebate (hopefully). This mascara contains 7.5g (.26oz)
Physicians Formula's Organic Wear Lash Fake Out comes in a very informative cardboard box. The box is absolutely covered in facts, info, percentages, ingredients, claims, and more. It's almost overwhelming. The tube it's self looks great, but it's very impractical. The tube is flatted and curved, the cap is shaped like a leaf and also curved. The tube is a metallic hot pink with green leaves. The name of the product can be found on the front of the tube along with the Physicians Formula logo. The flat, leaf shaped cap is uncomfortable to hold and cumbersome to use. Looks cool, but not so functional. Kudos to them for trying something interesting though.
Physicians Formula calls the 100% recyclable brush "oversized" and they really weren't kidding. It's massive! Bigger than Covergirl's Lash Blast/Max Factor False Lash Effect's brush, which is a little bit ridiculous. A brush this large is nearly impossible to get to the roots of the lashes. The very short, rubber bristles make short wiggling motions the ideal method of application. I do like that this brush, which is almost football shaped, is that it never comes out of the tube overloaded with product, it always carries just the right amount of mascara on it. Once again, this brush is far too big, I don't know what drove Physicians Formula to give this mascara brush that's over an inch long. That's just going overboard.
There's a huge list of things that Lash Fake Out is formulated without: No harsh chemicals, synthetic preservatives, parabens, dyes, solvents, synthetic fragrance, GMOs, Gluten, and Petrolatum. Physicians Formula also brags that the formula is clump, smudge, and flake free. This mascara has a bizarre texture and an even weirder smell, it smells kinda like mayonnaise. It's dry, sticky, and a little waxy. It goes on in very thin coats, three coats of Organic Wear Lash Fake Out is equal to one coat from most mascaras. You really need to load your lashes up with product and really wiggle the brush back and forth from the roots up to get a decent, full lash look. When you apply copious amounts of this mascara and take your time brushing it through the lashes, Lash Fake Out gives a really nice effect, but it shouldn't take six to eight coats to achieve that look. This mascara needs three coats to have any actual impact on the lashes, aside from making them a lot darker. By the time you load your lashes up with enough mascara to get the "false lash effect" Physicians Formula promises, your lashes feel very heavy, wet, and sticky. Just like the other Physicians Formula mascara I tried, this mascara remains partially wet and very tacky for hours after application, causing a fair amount of smudging. I also experience a good deal of flaking with this mascara, it doesn't stay on my bottom lashes at all, and the tips of my lashes flake off after a few hours. The flakes really irritate my eyes, I can't stand to wear this mascara for more than four to five hours.
Sorry if it seems like I'm absolutely slamming Physicians Formula Lash Fake Out mascara, but I really don't like anything about it. The packaging is attractive and informative, but the unique shape of the cap makes application difficult. The brush is far too large, I don't think those of us with smaller eyes can use it comfortably. Decent application takes time, you can get nice results if you work at it, but you really need to apply a lot of product. Despite being a natural, "hypoallergenic" product, Lash Fake Out gives me both itchy eyes and lashes. I'm so glad I'm getting a full rebate on the product, otherwise I'd be returning it. I'm entirely disappointed by this mascara, I regret buying it and do not recommend it. Now please excuse me while I wash off this itchy, itchy mascara.

Did not like. I was attracted to it because of the bright pink packaging, but this mascara is ick. It was clumpy mascara and the brush was HUGE (its similiar to the covergirl lash blast brush but bigger) which I do NOT like.It was so big I couldnt really see what I was doing and it didn't seperate my lashes (just clumped them together). Im returning it to get my 10 dollars back.

I saw this at rite aid and just had to try it I had not used any of pf mascaras before and the pink on the tube really caught my eye.I am allways on the lookout for new mascaras and really like the look of false lashes without wearing false lashes.So I have used this a few times and will have to say I pretty much hate this mascara.it is really black in color witch I like and its ok as far as how it makes my lashes look.but it does not in anyway make it look like fake lashes. It has a short fat brush with very short brishels some what like lash blast from covergirl.All of that I could deal with but the main trouble I have is that it seems to stay wet Ivan touch my lashes and mascara will be on my fingers and I'm talking hours later.I can stick my lashes together and have about four and don't even get me started on if I accidentally rubbed my eyes while wearing this.I wont be using this mascara any more :(

I'm working on going cruelty free and I was in need of a new mascara. I saw CVS was having a 5 dollars off all Physicians Formula a while back and picked this up. At first I really liked this stuff. Gave me decent length and volume, no clumps and was dark.

Then a couple of days ago I came home from work and looked at my eyes. Oh my Hannah Montana, raccoon eyes. I can't believe I walked around with that much mascara under my eyes. D: I must have rubbed my eye(s) or something because if I don't touch my eyes it looks fine at the end of day.

I want to repurchase this stuff, but the "maybe" raccoon eyes drives me nuts! I usually avoid touching my face for hygiene purpose but heck we all do at some point and I can't be worried if I just smudged my mascara.

I'll be on the lookout for another mascara after I finish this tube.
