La Femme Intense

A no- risk, no non-sense, almost sanitized floral from Prada, which is chic and perhaps even elegant but ultimately forgettable. Notes bring together a number of elements that connote depth and even sultriness - frangipani, ylang-ylang, jasmin, tuberose, beeswax, patchouli, orange blossom, vetyver. Still, everything feels so clean, so scrubbed and at times so light that I really need to focus hard to see where this perfume is going. What I get is a rather general impression, so much so that whenever I feel inclined to use an adjective like 'dark', 'powdery' etc, I also feel that it is not there at a level worth mentioning. I have no problem with light fragrances and there are indeed houses which draw very beautiful watercolour paintings in front of your eyes. For instance, in Hermes's Jardin series, lightness does not interfere with the complex experience of a perfume. It may even be enhancing the experience. Unfortunately, this is not the case with my experience of La Femme Intense. It almost feels like a perfume designed for the very people who shy away from this very perfume's notes. Ultimately ideal if someone wants a safe initiation into these notes, but I am not sure that it can maintain one's interest for long. It is a good, every day office fragrance though. La Femme Intense starts quite sharp to my nose. I get more nose-tickling sparkling than sweet yellow florals or orientals. It makes me think of white gold or even platin. The heart is considerably softer, a bit powdery a bit yellow florally, but ultimately a clean, well-blended 'perfumey' floral softened with slightly sweet fruity notes. It is a modern and sweet perfume for grown-ups, neither full of oriental depth nor with gourmand coziness. Anyway, it turns into soft powder on me rather quickly. I like the house and the perfumer, but there is nothing in Prada Le Femme Intense that would make me choose this over Infusion d'Iris for any occasion. Also, La Femme has very little lasting power, so much so that it makes me wonder: If this is the intense version, what is the L'eau even like? Not FBW for me because I don't particularly care for how it smells during its short life on my skin.

I'm the girl, well woman now, that always wants to smell like cotton candy, sugar, the body sprays so many wore in middle school and high school in the early 2000's, ect. So this is perfect for me. It's not so one note as the things I just mentioned, it's sweet, warm and sexy (imo, the definition of sexy varies a lot by opinion). It has nice lasting power and I get compliments when wearing it, mostly from men. This fragrance definitely has a certain vibe, it's either very much your thing or not even remotely at all, it's isn't a "meh, whatever" scent. You have to love sweet gourmand or this isn't for you.

That girl who wore that sugary cotton candy body spray in middle school and got Vanilla Bean Noel in her stocking every Christmas grew up into a beautiful and financially stable woman, and she probably smells like this. This is a warm, comfortable toasted caramel with a dry down that has just the right touch of musk to feel clean and sophisticated. I like it alone or to sweeten other, dryer fragrances. To me, it seems to disappear on my skin after a few hours but people still compliment my fragrance so maybe it’s more potent than it seems. Pass this up if you don’t enjoy gourmands. It isn’t something I’m in the mood for every day, but it has certainly earned a home among my collection.
