Albolene

Albolene is a brand of moisturizing cleanser, the first formula was created in 1885. It liquefies makeup on contact, dissolving dirt and impurities. The cleanser works without soap or water, and is also free of parabens and preservatives. It is widely available at large retail and drugstore chain stores.

Bought this bc of all the great reviews on here. I have very dry skin & it sounded like a good makeup remover. I would never just wipe it off & not cleanse my face. But I have been double cleansing for years & wanted to use this as my first step. I usually use jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, castor oil, or Vaseline to remove all my makeup or sunscreen. My fave lately is hemp seed bc it’s $10 in the cooking section at Walmart. When I switched from advacado oil to that, my skin was more clear. I suffer from hormonal acne, but it still seemed to help. This stuff is great at removing mascara. My skin felt so soft afterwards as well. But I had a million bumps on my chin & jawline & cheeks even the next day. Where I don’t breakout usually. The rest of my face can handle it. I looked it up, & This is LOADED with comedogenic ingredients. Parrafin is sure to clog pores. If you don’t care to have bumps as long as you have soft skin, this is for you. But it doesn’t actually make your skin soft. It makes it FEEL soft, bc the parrafin & mineral oil leave a film on ur skin. Even with washing after & a soft cloth it stays on there. So not actually doing your skin any favors.. soon as you wash it off, no more soft skin. I’m keeping to use on mascara only, & it will make a wonderful lip balm. But I won’t be using on my face again.

I have oily skin but I have never had any issues using this. I put it on my face to remove my makeup and then wipe it off. I follow up with my Purpose face cleanser and my face is clean and soft.

I have very sensitive, dry, but still acne-prone skin. Even though I would love to use something that isn’t petroleum based, (ex. coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, grape seed oil, etc...) my skin doesn’t tolerate “natural oils” very well. Every time I stray from Albolene for a more natural oil, I end up dry, irritated, and full of eruptions! Albolene is my HG, and as long as they keep making it, I will keep purchasing it from now on. Every night, (and morning, although there’s no makeup to remove) I gently rub a teaspoon of Albolene onto my face and neck, giving it time to break down my makeup. I then wipe my face and neck clean with a wet washcloth. And that’s it! Usually there’s enough moisture from the Albolene left on my face so I can skip another moisturizer, but if I’m feeling parched I apply a small amount of Vaseline to my face and neck. I’m almost 40, and I’ve manged to avoid wrinkles and crows feet thus far, and hope I can keep it that way for at least a little longer by using Albolene. If you are looking for a good oil cleanser or cold cream, I can’t recommend Albolene enough! It’s an incredibly underrated product, that’s very budget friendly.
