this is good if i only use it once in a while. used consistently it clogs my pores and gives me pimples. it worked okay at protecting my skin against the sun (uk), but the clogs and pimples caused more blemishes, so it was useless to me really.

I do like this sunscreen on my sensitive skin. It does not clog my pores. It is not shiny, blends with my skin, and my foundation goes over it nicely. I use it over my obagi vit C 5% and no balling up, no sliming. It is great when your favorite products actually work together.

I've been using this every day for about 3 weeks now, and also as a night cream until I can afford a proper one. It took a while for me to get used to the consistency, but once I got the hang of it - dabbing it on rather than rubbing - this cream goes on great. It leaves my skin very moisturized and soft, but it does look rather shiny unless I put powder on top. But that's fine to be honest, because it works great as a foundation for my powder. It stays put all day with no streaking, and most days I don't even need to reapply.
I've also never experiences any dry spots since I switched to this cream. I used to have constantly dry and flaky skin around my mouth and nose, but that disappeared after 3-4 days. Overall, I really like this cream. The only (slight) downsides are the thick consistency, and the fact that I can actually feel the cream laying on my skin after application when I touch my face. It's still the only sunscreen I can use on a daily basis without getting massive breakouts, so unless I find something better in the meantime, I'll buy this again for sure!

I found this sunscreen just ok.
I found that it gave my skin flakes and balled up when I put it on. I tried just smoothing it over my skin with quick sweeps instead of rubbing it in, but that still didn't work.
It worked pretty well under make-up, but it was quite oily and my pores looked huge!
Overall, this is just an ok sunscreen and I probably won't be buying it again. There are much better ones out there for a third of the price!

I think this product is totally over priced for what it is! It has a very thick consistency that does NOT work under make-up. It pills when massaged into skin, it needs to be dabbed in which makes it go on even thicker. It claims to moisturise but skin feels dry and looks greasy and shiny. I think you can buy much better sunscreen for a fraction of the price such as Neutrogena, I would not recommend it and will not repurchase.
For those foundation lovers out there, an excellent product to wear underneath is MAC Prep and Prime SPF 50. It makes skin look great, controls oil and has a really high SPF.

This does NOT go on well under make up and over my regular moisturizer. It rubs off in little white peelies. After applying this I had to wash my face and start over because it looked like i was molting.

I don't know if the tube I have turned or what but it feels grainy going on--more like a scrub than a sunscreen. I liked the no odor quality and it was lightweight which was nice. Unfortunately, I'm paler than pale already and the white cast it gave to my face was more Goth than I'd like. I also didn't care for the tightness it gave my combo skin throughout the day--like I'd stripped the moisture from my face and it couldn't recover regardless of how long I waited.

I bought this based on good reviews here, but it just doesn't work for me. I have combo skin, but perhaps I need to be oilier in order for this to work for me. I had a hard time smoothing it on, it takes some effort to blend it into my skin so that it isn't noticeable. I prefer a matte finish, but I found this to be way too drying. It didn't provide a good base for makeup. No breakouts, though.

I liked how this felt on my skin in the winter. Kind of like a light moisterizer and it did seem to act like a light moisteruzer, however in the summer the protection against UVA rays is not adequate. I purchased this after reading several reviews here and wish I had saved my money. I have melasma and this didn't offer nearly enough protection agains UVA rays. Also its a bit heavy for summer use if you have skin that tends toward oily. I'll finish up my tube by using it over the winter.

I can't believe I've never reviewed this...I've been using this religiously for almost four years now. I have oily/acne with a tendency to cysts, and it has never given me a problem. No white cast at all, and it is very light. They told me at the spa that I could use this on its own as a light moisturizer, so I do that sometimes--the moisturization is very, very light though. I have it both with tint (fair) and without, and though I for some reason like to use the tinted one it makes absolutely no difference and does not show up. This has been my HG sunblock for my face. That said, I'm about to stray b/c I saw a good deal on PTR ultra-light. I'm quite nervous about it, but as both products seem to have gotten bad reviews, perhaps I shouldn't be. I'm only straying b/c this is a little harder to get my hands on than it has been in years past. Would recommend this to anyone with oily/acne skin but who needs strong sun protection (I need because of hyper-pigmentation issues). Pricey but good. UPDATE: I have recently switched to Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch. First, I like the higher SPF, but the product is also much cheaper. This product did not exist when I started using MD Formulations. Although I still love the texture of the MD Form., I think that my hyper-pigmentation has eased (a little) since using the spf 55.

I didn't hate-hate this sunscreen until I'd used it for a few days. The first day was kinda nice even. But then it began drying out my face which made it harder to spread which caused streaking and more of a white cast which seemed to lead to the sunscreen clinging to any dry flakes on my face and then balling/flaking off (not rolling or pilling but almost like the sunscreen was flaking and leaving my flakey skin behind looking even worse). To top it all off, my face was irritated by this stuff after several days use in a heat-all-the-time, stinging, burning way.
BTG estimated the PPD to be about 5-6. This is not worth the trouble for a PPD 5-6 sunscreen with faulty film formers (which lowers the protection when it rubs off and I didn't have anything on my skin under the sunscreen to cause this) and sensory reactions that I can experience with a lot more protection.

My husband used this when he went jogging, and like blackberry_belle, it balled up something awful on him. So he reserved it for use only on days he'd be inside, and it was inconsistant--somedays would ball up and somedays not. It was very whitening too when he used the full amount on his face.

Its very hard for me to find a sunscreen that does not break me out. The only other sunscreen that Ive used that didnt leave me with a face full of bumps was one made by neutrogena, but it also left my face greasy : / MD Formulations sunscreen is far more superior. It leaves my skin soft, even and moist. It has not caused any break outs at all ! but seems to calm my skin after use. I love it and will continue purchasing it. I think this will be the first bottle of sunscreen that I will ever finish! One lippie down because i would like it to dry more matte & it takes a few minutes to sink in. Great product. 22$ and worth every penny. EDIT// so im nearing the end of the bottle and summer is here. Now whenever i use it the lotion balls up and leaves a ashy patches. it was great in the beginning, but ive since discontinued use. Im thinking about whether or not to buy the tinted version of this since ive read it doesnt ball up at all or try a new product. one more lippy off. continued >>

I loved this sunscreen at first. It had a matt finish, wasn't greasy or overly sticky, worked well under make-up. But after a month of using it, it went weird. It started balling up on my skin irregardless of whether I was wearing make-up or not, and in a very obvious way (it looked like I had this white stuff peeling off my skin), which is why I'm giving it such a low rating. Perhaps it's the hot weather here, I'm not sure. But if it is, then I'm very disappointed, as my pale skin needs sunscreen the most in hot, summer weather. Apart from that, I think it would have been a great sunscreen. But back to my Shiseido I go.

This is a very potent suscreen that definately does it's job protecting the skin from the harmful rays of the sun. And doing so without creating a masklike sensation on the skin.
MD formulations pride themselves by being recommended by the american skin cancer foundation, but what that means, I, being from Sweden, don't really know. What I do know is that by combining both chemical sunscreens like Octyl Methoxycinnamate with the mechanical sunscreen Zinc Oxide (CI 77947), they manage to get a good broadspectrum shield that also promotes good protection against UVA rays. Something many sunscreens lack. With the use of Allantoin it also will be soothing and prevent irritation that also is common when it comes to high spf sunscreens.
Overall I have never been disappointed when using this. It can feel a bit creamy in the skin at first, especially when used after a moisturizer, but very soon sinks in and at least on me creates a barely there kind of feel... Note however that I have dry skin. From a European stand point, this may very well be one of the best every day suncreens with a high and reliable spf thats available on this side of the Atlantic, if you ask me...

This is the best sunblock out there, period. I have oily skin and have tried every type of sunscreen from drugstore brands like Neutrogena, to Clinique, Bobby Brown, Obagi, and Rodan and Fields. This one is expensive, but definitely worth it. It goes on smooth, not tacky, without a white cast. It does not break me out nor leave me with an oil slick on my face by midmorning. More importantly it actually tightens my pores and evens out my skin when I wear it. I used a whole tube of this in the tinted version in summer, which looked really good except you can't use it in water, so it wouldn't be my first choice for sunblock to use on vacation where you expect to be in the ocean/pool. I subsequently bought the MD Formulation package for acne prone skin and although I hated the rest of the products, I again really enjoyed using the sunblock, this time without the tint. For excellent waterproof sunblock, try Shiseido. I am currently using a strong regimen for my acne for which I need to use good sunblock, and this is the one I have chosen.

I have found (finally!) my HG sunscreen. I've been wearing sunscreen every day since I was 14 (I'm now 29), so I've tried many different brands and many different formulations, including the sheer formulations from Neutrogena and Coppertone, as well as spf lotions from higher-end lines like Bobbi Brown, Prescriptives, DDF, Shiseido and Murad. I still use my Shiseido Light Essential Moisturizer spf 10 when I'm feeling dry (not often...usually only in winter) but layer the MD Formulations TP spf30 under it. This MD Formulations product is amazing. It has a matte finish, no scent, never breaks me out, and doesn't leave me an oily mess. It's perfect. It's also expensive, but I will purchase again and again. Highly recommended.

I love this. This is the best sunscreen I ever found. Will not break you out at all. Skip Neutrogena, coppertone and most of the high end ones loaded with chemicals and oil. This is it.
Another comparable one I found of good quality is Kiss my Face Face Factor. I found that one is great too, but less matte than MD Formulations so I like MD better. Both are fantastic though.

I love this stuff! I have really dry skin and this stuff is wonderful. It dries and blends in really well. I use it over moisturizer and it works very well as a base for my make-up as well. Has become a new HG for me.
