Excellent option if you need a long lasting eyeliner or if you have sensitive eyes. I have oily lids, prone to watering/itching eyes, and I live in a humid climate, and this stays on my bottom lid for hours and doesn't budge or smudge. This liner is the bees-knees!!!
This eyeliner is comparable to the Revlon Colorstay one. The liner stays on for a really long time, and only smudges a little for me. I love the dark color the liner, and the application is easy and smooth.

I'm really liking this liner. I use mostly as a bottom liner. I was convinced that I couldn't wear liner on the bottom, because most irritate my eyes (I wear contacts). However this doesn't irritate me at all. It stays in place and doesn't smudge.
It does fade a little bit, but doesn't drift into a panda eyes look.
I needed a new eyeliner pencil, because my Rimmel one was smudging like crazy. After hearing about the reviews for the Almay one, I decided to try it out. So at first I loved it and had I written this review then, I would have given it a 5. I even thought it was better than the Revlon Colorstay.
The tube itself is really nice and it's thinner than other eyeliner tubes. It doesn't have much staying power and I can easily get it off just by running my finger across my lid. No makeup remover necessary. The color is not very pigmented and it is not creamy at all. In the morning I wash my face, obviously, so it's slightly damp even after drying. It felt as if I was stabbing my eye with a regular pencil! It just would not go on and if any of it did, it was EXTREMELY light! I got really annoyed by this. It also does not stay on the waterline at all...it is not creamy and pigmented enough. I will be going back to Revlon for staying power. I even prefer Ulta's automatic eyeliner pencils over this. They are creamier and stay on better; at least I don't have to gouge out my eyes trying to apply it in the morning.

I have been using this pencil in black for almost eight years now. I have tried many others here and there, but none have been as good as this one for me. I always line my bottom lashes, and sometimes my top (and people have asked me if it's a liquid liner). This liner lasts me all day without reapplying. I also like that it goes on easily in one stroke; no need to dig into your lashline. It has a very dark pigment. There is also a tiny sharpener on the end so you can resharpen the pencil if you need to be precise (I don't think I have ever done this though since the pencil itself is already so thin). Using every day, one pencil lasts me about 5-6 months. It is a higher-priced drugstore pencil (around $9), however the last time I bought mascara I got Almay Get up and Grow (also around $9) and it came with this eyeliner for FREE! So I bought four. Last thing: I am bad about taking off makeup at night if I don't shower, so I sleep with this liner on more than half the time and it doesn't cause any irritation (some others have for me, so this is a plus!).
I purchased this hoping that the performance would be similiar to the Milani Liquif'eye liner. Unfortunatey it does not even come close. The application and the feel is fine however it does smudge, in fact, it smudged immediately upon application.
I have been using this product for about 6 months and so far, I really like it. The color glides on smoothly and really does last without smudging, not for 16 hours but for about 9 or so, which is pretty good. After that the color starts to fade, but I've never had issue with it smudging out of place. I use the black/brown color and I love it. I just wish it went on in a slightly thinner line. The sharpener is pretty worthless. I will probably continue to use it because I don't have to worry about raccoon eyes or smudging, although if I see something that goes on in a thinner line I'd consider it.

stays on well, nice color.
but i do notice some fading/smudging. less than other brands by far but i've still used better.
Update: having tried many other eyeliners in the last few years, I've removed a lippy as I believe this product's performance now ranks slightly below average. The application is not as smooth (skips and drags a tiny bit) as others, and the colour payoff and intensity is also not as stark (as I've now realized). The fading issues have magnified in comparison, but I do still like how at least this product did not transfer or smudge for raccoon eyes.
Unfortunately, Almay (and parent company Revlon) have now been moved off the cruelty-free lists. I don't include the company policy in my product rating, but I will not repurchase even during emergencies if cruelty-free options are available.

This is an average eye pencil that would be a great first-buy for anyone starting out with eye makeup. It's an automatic twist-up with a built in sharpener at the other end. The sharpener doesn't really work since the pencil is so soft and thin, I have accidentally snapped off a large portion at times when sharpening.
I have the pencil in black and the colour is true. The pencil is soft and it's very easy to draw a line with no tugging or pulling. However, getting a thin line is difficult. I often draw the line and then shave down using a q-tip (which I do anyways to clean up rogue mascara and eyebrow powder stains so it's not an extra step). The pencil fades to a lighter shade of black after about 5 hours of wear, but does not smudge or transfer which is incredible given my oily lids. I also tightline top and bottom with no issues, although the waterline fades faster, around 3 hours. That being said, it never completely disappears so I don't usually bother with touch-ups.
The price is on average $9 CAD, which I find high for a pencil of this caliber. However, I can see how this would work perfectly for those who don't desire a super fine line and doesn't have ridiculously oily lids (I have yet to find the silver lining in that). It's a very safe pencil to buy since it's widely available and hypoallergenic.

I've been using this liner for about 2 years because it was all I knew. Eyeliner is usually the only makeup I wear on a daily basis and as much as I love gel liners, I'm just too lazy to clean all my brushes daily. So I always revert back to pencil liners. I've tried lots of pencil eyeliner brands for years now looking for something that's pigmented but doesn't end up giving me panda eyes. And Almay is really awesome. I wear it to the gym and when I come out pouring with sweat, my eyeliner is still the same, so that's something!
