I bought this product for two reasons:
First of all, I got more and more interested in natural cosmetics, especially when it comes to skin care stuff, since I have pretty dry skin which tends to be irritaed if not cared for in the right way.
Second, the SMELL!!!! I loved it from the first time....it smells like marzipan and I love sweet fragrances to death.
The product is kinda pricey, although I got a small discount.
I used it as a moisturizer for the night, since I noticed that it too rich for using it on daytime. It has a medium thickness, and it smells great, as mentioned before.
But now the disadvantages start.
About 10-20 minutes after I applied it to my face, the skin starts feeling tight and itchy but still greasy...which is a strange combination since I experience this feelings normally when my skin is too dry, after cleaning my face or removing make-up.
I tried it a couple of times after that and it is always the same..application => itchy!
I wanted to give my skin some time to get used to it, but after about 8 days with itchiness I see no chance anymore that this product will work for me.
I can reduce the itchiness a bit by mixing it with the almond oil, but still it feels weird and I don't see any sense in having two buy two products to make one of them work....
I'm really disappointed with that stuff and I definitely don't want to buy it again. I use it now as a handcream and it works well on my hands. But cheaper products have done that as well.

I was super tired of experimenting with moisturizers. None had given me what I wanted. So I decided to go for this one, cause Weleda has never let me down in the past and people told me that this moisturizer is great for dry skin.
It is kinda pricey, but I figured it was worth it instead of buying 10 other cheap ones that do nothing.
I use this one as a night cream now and am very happy with it. It does what it says - intense moisture.
My skin feels great and smooth afterwards.
I would not use it during the days (maybe in extreme winter) cause I don't think makeup would last very long with this.
But as a nightcream it works perfectly and my skin feels great in the morning.
The texture is rather thin for such moisturizing effect.
I ended up not giving 5 lippies, cause the price just kills me. But I will probably repurchase anyway.

love wELEdA like a crazzzzzy woman!!!
I don't particularly have dry skin but I love it nonetheless!!!
My husband buys it for me as a treat, and then steals it every morning, and I don't blame him.
The scent is heavenly and not overpowering.
The texture is brilliant especially for winter.
The price...well, it's a treat like I said, so don't abuse it.
Organic and fair traded, so big up to Weleda.

This has become my HG face cream. No strange scent, no drawbacks. just clean, moisturing. nourishing. makes my skin feel great, and at $19 a tube, not as hard on the wallet as some. I've tried many different creams and usually have to change based on season, or too expensive to maintain, or just not quite right. this one has been my one and only for over a year now. can easily pick it up at whole foods while grocery shopping. made it through the winter season without flakiness. good, simple stuff.

i love this moisturizer. it is a bit expensive for a drugstore brand, twenty dollars for an ounce, but it does last quite a while, since i use only about a pea-size amount on my face and another around my eyes. i usually use it to augment lighter moisturizers like my clinique gel, though it is not oily in the slightest. i pat it on and it is so soothing. i was worried at first that it would make me break out--nearly every new product does, especially moisturizers--but not only did i not break out, it didn't even remotely sting my eyes or cause my rosacea to flare. in fact, it kept my face from breaking out on a return flight over the holidays (which it always does). it is the perfect amount of moisturizer for my skin, which is oily on the surface but becomes very dry and flaky easily. it comes in a cute pink metal tube, very hygienic. the scent is a very faint, natural almond scent, not overly sweet, and it fades very quickly. i like that unlike other natural products, it isn't full of irritating essential oils for scent. it prevents my skin from flaking under mineral makeup and doesn't make it oily.i can't tell you how thrilled i am to have found a readily available, gentle, effective, and *natural* moisturizer. i love it.

I looked for a long time to find this product before finally locating it in Walgreens. I must say I am really disappointed that a product marketed for sensitive skin contains alcohol and fragrance, and it turned my face angry red and blotchy/scaly after using about a week. I am using it up on my feet because I don't feel like taking it back and having to explain why it didn't work since so many people seem to have good results with this. I think $20 an ounce is a bit expensive for a plain moisturizer with no actives, but I guess it's comparable to department store pricing for moisturizers. I don't like the metal tube because it cracked and product is oozing out the side, and I don't know that metal is more environmentally friendly than recyclable plastic. I can't use any of Weleda's other facial products because they contain ingredients like linalool, geraniol, limonene, and fragrance from essential oils, which irritate my skin. I so wanted to like the Weleda line because it appeals to my want-to-be natural/earthy/simple sensibility, but I've accepted that natural products are usually not good for my sensitive, dermatitis-prone skin. Normally I would give a product at least a 3 if the reason it doesn't work is my finicky skin, but in my opinion, there really is no excuse to include alcohol and fragrance in a product marketed for sensitive skin when there is a ton of research supporting the irritantcy of these ingredients to sensitive skin, so I give this product a 1.

I have sensitive skin that breaks out into acne or eczema when irritated. I bought this as it was recommended for my skin type. It contains nothing but the simplest ingredients, guaranteed not to irritate skin. Since using it my skin has become much softer, it has helped heal some existing scars. I have had no break outs from this cream nor eczema. It is moisturising enough to keep my skin soft and smooth but not too greasy as to cause oil build up. I love it. I'm hooked.

In regards to previous post: This product while still hard to find is still being manufactured. Available online and if you go to Weleda website they have a trial size kit of entire Almond Face line for $14. Also available at Whole Foods. Great product all around.

Please note: this product does not exist. Or doesn't exist any more, at any rate - and hasn't for some time (see end of review for further information).
This review is for the two existing moisturizers from this range: Weleda Almond Moisture Cream and Weleda Almond Intensive Facial Cream.
[UPDATE 04/2011: since at least 2010, these are now called, respectively, Almond Soothing Facial Lotion and Almond Soothing Facial Cream. There are MUA product entries for both these items, aside from this present one*.]
Weleda's Almond line is aimed at sensitive skin. Containing mainly, well, sweet almond oil. No added fragrant essential oils - unlike Weleda's Rose and Iris ranges, and many (most?) other "greener" companies' skincare products. Minimal formulae. It's taken a while, but I've figured out that I have the kind of sensitive (fragile, irritable) skin that is happiest with a minimalist approach.
There are two Almond moisturisers: a lotion (previously Moisture Cream,) and a cream (previously Intensive Facial Cream). Similar ingredients (see end of review), main difference seems to be texture.
The lotion (Moisture) version is lighter, more fluid, applies like a dream, and sinks in fast. The cream (Intensive) is thicker, needs to be rubbed in, and feels more sticky-greasy. Better on drier skin.
There are also a Cleansing Lotion, Facial Oil, and Facial Mask in the range. All the products carry a faint scent of almond - milky, comforting, and not too sweet, more like frangipani / Italian almond-based pastries. It fades fast. Prices for the Creams: around GBP/EUR 8.00-12.00 or USD 22.00 for 30 ml. Aluminium tube (can be squeezed then rolled down) lasts 3 to 4 months.
UPDATE: Grumpy. Price keeps going up. I used to be able to buy Weleda with my pocket-money when I was a teenager. What's with the world??? Now hitting department-store prices! I would still buy this again - it's good - and it keeps its 5 lippie status - but currently favouring the cheaper (and as good) Avène skin recovery cream and Tolérance extrême, and Clinique DDML.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: ... and back again, to the Almond Soothing Lotion, then (skin drier) the Cream. Good stuff, calming on skin, does its job without any fuss.
INGREDIENTS: WELEDA ALMOND MOISTURE CREAM: Water (Aqua), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond), Alcohol*, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Beeswax, Prunus Domestica (Plum), Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid.
INGREDIENTS: WELEDA ALMOND INTENSIVE FACIAL CREAM: Water (Aqua), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond), Alcohol**, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Hydrolyzed Beeswax, Prunus Domestica, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid.
* this present product page comprises, for the most part, reviews for the Cream, with some for the Lotion, and some--like this one--for both, having been written at a time of ambiguous naming; dark, confusing, and ancient times indeed
** Q. Why do some Weleda products contain alcohol?
A. In homeopathic remedies and tinctures, alcohol is traditionally used to draw out the vital life forces of a plant to create a botanical extract in a specific concentration. Alcohol is also used as a natural preservative in our formulations. Weleda uses organic grain alcohol, which is naturally derived from fermented plant sugars. We do not use Methyl or Propyl alcohol—also known as rubbing alcohol.

I have a sensitive skin and my acné is asleep but when I use the wrong products, my acné awakes again.
I refused to use any products with oils for years but after reading a lot about chemical products, I wanted to try a "natural cream".
Weleda almond was the only cream so far that looked good to me to use in winter (I only have dry spots in winter). This cream contains oil so I was afraid for using it but in turned out very well for me (I use it day & night: very cheap; 9 euro so I don't need to go buy another cream to use at night).
I'm using this cream for about 6 months I guess and I'm really pleased with it. It just works perfect to me: no dry spots, no breaking out, no glimming (absorbs very well).
The only contra I can see is the ugly packaging (but hey what's inside counts) and the cream has no SPF so I have to use my old daycream with SPF25 in summer. continued >>

In the past, I had a fear of anything that listing the word "oil" as I have had oily skin from the age of 12 onward. As I have recently entered my 40s, I notice my skin is becoming dryer. Estheticians I have seen have told me certain oils (jojoba and almond) "are good" for the face, so when I saw this cream for less than $10 at my local target, I thought "Why not?" This cream has not caused any allergic reactions or breakouts on my increasingly sensitive skin, so I consider it a good investment.
EDIT: This has caused tiny bumps on my face, so I have lowered its rating from 4 lippies. Love the scent, but it is not an HG.

This cream can be used both day and night, and they have 2 versions- the cream and the lotion. The cream is creamier and thicker than the lotion but both are easy to use. It is great for winter time for sensitive skin. I have normal skin and used it every day in the fall and winter. That said, you may not like it if you want your moisturizer to be runny and thin. However, I think that if a face cream is too thin then that means a lot of it just pure water and won't protect your skin as much as a night cream. I find this product very good w/o harsh chemicals. The only thing is that it doesnt say on the box that it doesnt clog pores but I hope it doesnt and certainly would repurchase it.

I really like this moisturizer, since my cheeks get pretty dry in the winter. I bought the travel size for like $3 so it wasn't that expensive and I think a little goes a long way, so it lasts awhile. I usually put this on at night and it feels a little greasy but in the morning when I wake up the spots where I put the cream feel less greasy than where I didn't put any. I also put it on after I shower and this is the only cream that helps with my dry, flaky skin in the winter.

I love Weleda's Skin Food, but it's far too heavy for daytime. The Almond Face Cream is a fabulous daytime counterpart. It leaves my skin soft and hydrated, and doesn't break me out. It's pretty expensive normally, but I snagged a few tubes on sale at Walgreen's. I also like to get the teeny tubes and stash them in my purse and my car, for moisturizing on the go.

This is expensive but it is the perfect moisturizer for sensitive skin. I dont' understand the negative reviews, for me it has a lovely almond smell, a smooth texture and good moisturizing for summer. I add oil to it or use the night cream in winter.

Did not like this - left my skin greasy and slimy looking. I don't know what's in Weleda's face products, but they do not smell nice at all. I've tried the Iris and Rose, and cannot stand any of the aromas.

I'm really disappointed in this. I bought this along with the cleansing lotion on clearance at Walgreens, and I'm glad it was on sale. I couldn't imagine paying $20 for this little tube! While the cleansing lotion leaves my skin pretty hydrated, this stuff seems to suck the moisture right out. It feels good for the first few minutes, and then it turns my skin completely matte. I'm sure some people will really appreciate that, but my skin is really dry, and I need all the moisture I can get. I'll suffer through wearing this on really hot days, depending on what foundation I'm wearing. (some days are more tolerable than others.) But there is no way I can wear this once the weather changes. Oh, well. :)

I have somewhat sensitive skin and love this moisturizer. I don't like much scent in face cream and this has just the perfect amount of scent, hardly detectable. But the scent, is clean and almost nutty. It sinks in my skin immediately and leaves it soft and perfectly moisturized. The only thing I don't like is the price. While its not insanely expensive, I think its a little too price. I also noticed the cheaper price in the .33 oz samples and have been buying in that way. I would pay full price, though.

I got a .33 oz trial size of this from Target for $3.49, interestingly enough, the full 1 oz size is $20. Hmm...you do the math. The consistency is a lot more like a milky lotion than a cream, so the name is misleading. It really does moisturize like a cream though. No SPF, so it's definitely a night time cream. The scent is very very subtle, like almond powder and milk, and I love the fact that it has only 9 ingredients, all of which I recognize. It feels a bit sticky on your face upon application, and that scared me a bit because my skin is rather oily, but it never gets greasy on your face. When I wake up, my face is perfectly moisturized, and not completely oily with grease, as with every other lotion I've ever tried. 1. Cheap, 2. Does its job, 3. Short list of ingredients. Perfect.

The ingredients are good for moisturizing. However, Almond oil is comodogenic, and the day after I used this I had lots of little blackheads. If you don't have any problems with clogging pores, I think you could get nice results with this.
