I got this in Pink Escape and I LOVE it. I already own Posie Tint by Benefit and have always liked it...I also own UD Afterglow in a similar color and the UD is just alright. This gel blush blows these two out of the water and is my new fave. I don't care that it doesn't last all day...I like how it looks.
stumbled upon these blushes while getting my favorite matchmaker foundation,
i applied the foundation to at the store, just to make sure it is still as wonderful as before. and then decided to finish off with some blush.
i love cream blushes, but having so many already, did not think that color sticks were any better than mars, tart, etc
then, i noticed tiny little pots of gelle. so tiny in fact, i thought they were lip glosses. upon closer inspection they turned out to be blushes. and what amazing blushes they are. easiest to apply, though might be a problem for those who dont like to finger-paint. went to home to see how long the blush will actually stay and to read mua reviews, of course.
yes, it is true what every expert on mua says - hg quality and sadly, priced as such.
still, i know what my sephora credit will buy - the best blush on the market - that is what. lol
Love this little tub of gelee! If you like the look of Benefit's Benetint but can't get it to work because of the packaging, I highly recommend this! The texture is super cool, and the little pot is compact and just big enough to fit my Real Technoques stippling brush in to stipple the color onto my cheeks. It gives a natural flush that lasts all day. There is no noticeable product on your cheek, just color!
Also, I LOVE this on the lips! It doesn't dry my lips out at all!
I purchased this blush in Poppy Paradise.
This is an extremely beautiful colourful. I feel that it would compliment any skin tone. I have fair skin (green eyes, brown hair) and it adds the perfect rosey-ness to my cheeks.
I also find this to be an AWESOME lip tint! I've used it alone (get compliments on the colour every time) and I have also layered it with other lip colours.
It is in a little glass pot, which makes it a little bit difficult to apply on cheeks (I don't like using my fingers for cheeks - I'm really awkward with it). I usually use an actual blush brush or a sponge (I find the sponge to put it on too thick though). I use my fingers to apply it to my lips.
There is a variety of colours, and I would love to try a few others. The only problem is that it sells for $29 CDN. I love all of Josie Maran's products, and they are worth the price.
If you're willing to dish out the cash, it's a good product! I have had mine for quite a while! I'm not sure if I would repurchase, solely because of the price
*** (NOTE: They're $22 on the Josie Maran Cosmetic website!)
Favorite new blush! I love gel-based blushes because they don't feel like a coating and are not too shimmery/iridescent like many other cream-based items for cheeks. It applies smoothly and evenly, with buildable color. Best of all, the glow appears so natural, like real skin, not makeup. The consistency is top quality and it is long wearing. It is like a cheek stain but doesn't "dye" your skin if you know what I mean. It's never patchy and when you wash your face, it comes off nicely. Again, doesn't dye the skin. I love that it's based from coconut water. It even feels like the coconut gel inside of the actual fruit. Sometimes I just want to bite into it, like it's candy!
This is my HG blush now. I was attracted to it by the pretty presentation -- it really looks like jelly in the pot -- but I fell in love with it for several reasons.
I dabbed on some Getaway Red right after buying at Sephora, to try it out and see whether I ought to exchange it. Two light applications gave my NC30-ish skin a healthy flush. It really did look like I was actually blushing. I kept smiling at myself in the mirror whenever I passed it because I was thrilled at how natural my blush looked -- I almost never wear obvious makeup, and I like to do a natural-but-better face, with concealer, blush, sheer lipstick and occasionally a little brown eyeliner. It gave the apples of my cheeks a rosy glow.
I then fell asleep in my clothes, as one sometimes does after a long day. At 4am I woke up and stumbled to the bathroom. More than 12 hours after putting it on, and after sleeping with it on... THE BLUSH WAS STILL THERE. IT WAS INSANE! And it was just as pretty as when I put it on the first time.
I've honestly never, ever, EVER seen a longer-lasting cheek stain. I was even worried it wouldn't come off, but I washed my face with my usual Cetaphil and looked back up in the mirror, and it was gone.
I can't recommend this blush enough. I have honestly never been more thrilled about a product. I don't love the vaguely coconutty smell, but I absolutely love the soft gelee texture, and I LOVE the natural look and the incredible lasting power. Only two caveats: 1) The price is ridiculous for such a small amount of product; compare with Tarte stains that last forever; 2) If you aren't very good at applying cheek stains, be careful, because this one really lasts and you don't want to walk around all day with a blotchy face. But despite the crazy price, I have to say: RUN OUT AND BUY THIS.
At the time of this review, JM has this in five shades: Getaway Red, a true red, Honeymoon Honey, brown-red, Berry Bliss, a deep berry-wine, Poppy Paradise, a "warm" (not truly warm, its overtones are warm and undertones are cool) hot pink, and Pink Escape, a cooler pink.I only hope Josie Maran comes up with more shades. I'm hoping for something peachy-pink like Tarte Blissful!
Very light, very sheer, not tacky, not sticky, not greasy. Can smudge foundation that has been already applied and you certainly do not want to apply this over anything powder. But for a weekend, a light application of color, without scent, try this. Also, if you are the mother of a teen or tween, this is an excellent starter blush. You really have to try hard to overdo it, and the product is gentle on skin. These are not as tacky as the Tarte cheek stains, but not as dense as most cream blushes. This one is sort of in the middle.
I hate how much I love these. I have Poppy Paradise and Berry Bliss and they're both spectacular. The color is such a healthy, gorgeous flush that's impossible to overdo and lasts for ages. There's no scent and they never make me break out. My biggest complaint is how EXPENSIVE they are! These little babies are tiny, and you burn through them pretty quickly with every day use. If they were more in the $15 range I would own the whole line. As it is though, I think two's my limit, no matter how much I want the orange.
I bought this in Honeymoon Honey, which is a dark reddish brown in the pot but it's just a sheer warm tan on your skin. It's the best bronzing product I've ever used, it literally looks like you are tan, and blends perfectly into your skin. There is no scent I can find, and it does feel good on my skin with tinted moisturizer. If I didn't have a full gel blush from pixi I'd buy a more berry toned flush color also.
These are $30 in Canada, but I love gel blush, especially in bright shades! I got Pink Escape, the most subtle on me (NC20), and it still goes on pretty hot. This might be partly because you have to rub a little to blend it on, so it brightens up your cheeks a little more than just the color of the blush. For this reason, I usually apply sparingly, wait for my cheeks to settle down while applying eye makeup, and then go back and add more if I need it. It goes on pretty sheer, but I still wouldn't mind a slightly lighter color option.
I find this much easier to work with than Benetint (liquid), since it goes exactly where you put it and doesn't drip. It doesn't last as well for staining the lips, although it's definitely more moisturizing. I believe it stays on my cheeks longer than Benetint or the Pixi sheer cheek gel in the tube.
It does retain a certain tackiness that never seems to go away, but I haven't tried to powder over it since I'd rather have moisture than matte. Watch out though because it's not a straight stain and it will transfer to your boyfriend's shirt or a pillowcase if you're not careful.
Lippies off for: there's not a lot of product in here. The packaging is exactly the same as Color Tattoos, so that tells you how little you get. I'm burning through it pretty quickly, too. I don't find it lasts anywhere near a whole day. I apply maybe three times in a day, which is still pretty good for me (I'm pale and my skin seems to devour color), but for the price, I'd like more than I'm getting. Also regarding the packaging, I thought the lid was metal, but it's hard white plastic and the paint is wearing off, so it doesn't look nice and shiny anymore in my makeup kit. On the plus side, it's pretty great for traveling since it's compact and doesn't require a brush. I think it would be pretty hard to break by dropping since the glass pot is very thick.
A problem I've had with solid gel blushes (like the push up ones from Josie Maran, Tarte and Quo) is that they sweat during temperature or pressure changes, so you get these drips of super concentrated liquid color oozing out. You have to soak this liquid up with a Kleenex before applying the blush because it stains skin unevenly. I was hoping it would happen with this product since it's more airtight than the push up packaging, but it still does. The only gels that don't have this problem, IME, are in tubes like the Pixi one. Just something to watch out for, especially if you travel a lot.
I might buy it again when I run out, since it's convenient to use and stays on me longer than powder, but I'm hoping they'll have a couple more colors before then.
