Having recently discovered loose powder eyeliners, when I bought "Onyx" BE Liner Shadow and loved it, I went on the hunt for the same sort of product, in a matte deep plum.
I expected it to be easy. Not!
I came up empty from Bare Essentuals, since all of their plums seem to be shimmery, which I dislike in an eyeliner. Soo, I decided to see what the "lower end" lines could offer, and promptly hit paydirt at Pure Luxe.Pinup is described on the site as "Sexy plum," and all of the Super Liners are classified as completely matte. Bingo!
I ordered a jar of Pinup ($8.00 for a 5-gram jar, with sifter), and I'm pleased to report that it's *exactly* what I was looking for!
Pinup "works" just like the BE Liner Shadows; you tap a small amount of the powder into a clean empty container, add a drop or two of a good sealer ( I like BE's Weather Everything), stir, and you have a well-pigmented ink-like eyeliner that glides on easily, provides intense (but not harsh) color in one stroke, and stays and stays, even on uber-oily skin like mine.
And then there's the color: Pinup is a deep matte plum, more brown-toned than blue, but still "cool." It really "pops" my green eyes, and is a wonderful softer alternative to black. You get the ease of application of a liquid liner, without the harsh look. The only caveat is the fact that loose powder liners can be quite messy, and the sifter really doesn't help matters much, but for a color this beautiful, and as easy to apply (much easier than gel liners, IMO), I can deal with it.
I only wish this came in a larger jar. I'll definitely re-purchase Pinup when the time comes!
