This is my absolute fav red lipstick, and I have a LOT of red lipsticks!
where do I start?!
As the other reviewers said, it goes on quite sheer, but is very buildable so you can really control how you want it to look. I do a few swipes, because I just LOVE the full impact of this colour. It feels very light, and when first applied, feels like I've just got lip balm on. For the first twenty minutes or so, you've got to be careful because just like any other red lipstick it can end up on your teeth/face/cup/boyfriend. However after that, it dries down to this beautiful lightweight, matte finish which doesn't budge, and is the best lasting red I've found, I touch up once or twice during the day but don't have to worry too much about it. The colour is a very bright - almost fluorescent - orangey red.
The packaging is lovely and solid, however my one complaint would be that the lipstick broke off at the base the first time that I used it.
Not the end of the world, but annoying considering how much it cost, combined with the fact that I love it so much that I take it everywhere!!
Oh well, hopefully the next one doesn't do it - I will definitely buy again, and at the rate that I'm using this stuff, that may in fact be very soon!!

I was convinced that my yellow based NC45 colouring would not agree with orange unless it was a sheer gloss (I own Temper but wear with caution) But I really liked the slightly retro look of a reddened orange lippy. Thanks to the photo of the reviewer above buying the lipstick version of the only strong orange I own = no brainer.
I love this colour cos its easy to adapt; when paired with MAC's Brick lip liner underneath it makes the most perfect tomato red, with a brown lip liner I can tone it down with nyx's orange lip liner I can turn it up. I can wear by itself without feeling self conscious - its matte but not so matte that every lip crease is on display, in short it maybe the easiest orange to wear ever!

Ignite is a matte orangey red. It is similar to MAC So Chaud, except it might have just a hint more orange. It is matte, but seems to apply slightly glossy from the tube and then dries down to a matte finish. This weird glossiness application makes you need 4 or 5 swipes to build up to full pigmentation. It wears rather well once it has dried down (which only takes about a minute) and doesn't dry out lips. I still prefer MAC's mattes however, because they are more pigmented and also almost $6 dollars cheaper (the Illamasqua lipsticks are $20). I would still buy Illamasqua lipsticks again though, especially if they have a unique color. They also sell an intense lipgloss that matches Ignite really well. It's called Temper and is swatched next to Ignite in the pic I added. It is really opaque too so you could get away with just buying the gloss, which I think is all in all a better product than the lipstick. Still, Ignite is a good buy especially if you are an avid orange-red lippy collector like me!
