I generally take mascara reviews with a huge grain of salt, and I don't really like to review them. Mascara is nearly as personal as perfume. Your natural body chemistry plus the types of scents you enjoy and find appropriate for your daily life will dictate whether a perfume is "good" or "bad." Same concept here. Everyone is searching for something different, and it really depends on your desired look, as well as how your lashes are naturally.
However, because Diorshow is one of the most popular, raved about mascaras ever, I figured I'd review this one in the name of giving some advice. Hopefully this will help someone out there. I'm not a beauty editor or a makeup SA. I'm just a girl who has spent what feels like her whole life since age 13 looking for the perfect mascara. Whenever you read or review mascaras, it's my belief that there are 3 key elements everyone should take into consideration.
1. The reviewer's natural lashes: When I was little, my lashes were super thick and long. As I've aged, they've thinned out. They're still pretty; fairly long and the outer lashes have a nice curl. But my quest has always been to get that lush doll look back.
2. The reviewer's eye shape: I have large, Bette Davis-shaped eyes. This is the key element that many, many girls leave out when they give a review. However, I can almost always spot the girls with smaller or more narrow eyes by their complaints of large brushes. IF YOU HAVE SMALL EYES, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MASCARA! The brush is not going to make you happy. For girls with that eye shape, I would delve into Lancome's offerings, as I know that they have a lot of various brush shapes and sizes to choose from. I believe Defincils, for example, has a smaller brush. Dior's tend to be quite oversized. If you have average to large eyes, go for the Dior.
3. The look the reviewer is going for: Sophisticated drama for daytime looks, graduate classes, and low key nights out. When I want full-force, over the top drama, I go for Diorshow Blackout, which is another review altogether. (Quick take: False lashes in a tube!)
Given all those elements, here is my Diorshow review. Again, take it with a grain of salt, as we may or may not match up on the factors listed above.
I love this mascara! For a while I was using Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition Volumizing. When I switched to Diorshow, I realized what I was missing in my daily looks: Feathery, natural-ish looking lashes that are sexy yet ladylike. I look like I was born with a fantastic set of lashes when I use 1 - 2 coats of Diorshow. The look is always pin-up girl, but never too outrageous to the point of distraction. I feel comfortable wearing this to grad school classes where I'm expected to look semi-professional. This does the job, but at the same time it adds a touch of glamour, and allows me to look and feel like, well, me.
Yes, the formula's a bit dry. To me, that's one of the best things about it. It dries fast but it never looks hard or crusty. The lashes are still soft. Not as soft as the BE, but then again the BE never offered this much volume either. The oversized brush is, for me, easy to use and convenient for my eye shape. The only real downfall to this mascara is that sometimes I need to curl my lashes again afterward. However, I've always broken that beauty rule about only curling your lashes before mascara; I've always thought it looked better to do it after. I never have lashes break and I don't really lose many, so I'm comfortable doing this step after applying Diorshow. I should also add that I've never found a mascara that really curls my lashes uniformly.
All in all, I love this mascara. It plays well with others (hint: Layer a coat of this under Blackout and throw all your falsies away forever!) and looks incredible without a primer. I don't care for the price, but $24.50 for a tube that lasts 3 - 4 months isn't terrible. If you don't mind paying a bit more for this type of product, I cheerfully suggest going for it!

I have long lashes, and they are pretty thick, so two coats of mascara usually looks pretty dramatic, which I want. I put on the first coat of this, and you couldn't even tell I had mascara on. It feels VERY dry and the HUGE brush makes it difficult to coat edge lashes. Somehow during application I got spots of mascara on my lid, which doesn't happen. It's like it flaked off the brush.
I needed 5 COATS of this for the look I wanted. Cheap drugstore mascara gives me better results than this.

I love this mascara. I have average lash lengths but this makes them look so long but still natural. I use it everyday and have no issues with smudging or flaking as some members have posted. I do get racoon eyes after a shower but not a biggie as I just use an eye makeup remover as you would anyway. Worth the big bucks definately!

I like this mascara over the top of the Dior mascara primer. It's a nice formula, never clumps or flakes. Will occasionally smudge if it's a hot day and my face gets oily.

I have reasonably good natural lashes so I'm not looking for a lot in the way of volume or length and this gives me the perfect level of both, I love this mascara for an evening look. It works perfectly for me and gives me the dramatic, non clumpy, non sticky/spidery lashes I like. Unlike other reviewers, I don't find I get the crumblies with this one.
It's a bit much for my daily needs (my daytime mascara is Clinique Naturally Glossy, though that can be built up for evening too), but it's a no brainer rebuy for evening use.

This is hands down the worst mascara... Its not clumpy, BUT it flakes off and then I get tons of crumbles on my cheeks. This flakes so bad!!!! It is also extremely dry. They are made that way and I cant stand it. I will never repurchase and I doubt that I can even use it up. Thats how annoyed I am.

I got this product after trying it as a mini from sephora. I fell in love with it and its white lash maximizer. I bought them both in regular size. I have to say that my lashes do look a little longer, but they do not hold the curl, they go a little more straight after I apply the white one first. I got the waterproof one because the regular Dior Show did ran and I had raccoon eyes at about 4 hours after application. Nevertheless is a very good mascara, I will not buy it again only because I want to try other mascaras like YSL.

W hat a disappointment! NOTHING special about this and I should have held on to my money. Crappy mascara! Jordana (brand) makes a mascara that blows this sh**out the water....

Good mascara, yes, but not worthy of all the hype. Gives good results if you want to look like you are wearing a ton of mascara but really not great for day to day use. Also the brush design means that you will end up with mascara on your nose and eyelids if you want to get every lash, and this stuff is NOT easy to remove from your skin.
In my opinion there are much better products out there for much less - Max Factor and Maybelline do good ones on the high street, or if you want to go high end I reckon you can't beat Chanel Inimitable.
All in all not bad, not great, but definitely overpriced!

Ive been using this mascara since i was probably 16, I'm 22, so that should say something, it is on the pricier side, but i find if you really want that wow lash look, you absolutely can't go wrong with Dior!

This mascara irritated my eyes very badly and the smell was intolerable, I don't believe mascaras need to be scented, seems unnecessary.. and, I'll assume the fragrance is what caused the irritation. Also, the consistency was very dry. However, I will not give it a completely low rating because I have sensitive eyes and others seem to fancy the product.

I'm surprised to see negative reviews of this. This is the mascara I keep coming back to if I want thicker longer lashes. It keeps my lashes in good condition, and I love the big brush. But it's true that it does seem to dry out fast in the container.

Super disappointed with this mascara. Defined my lashes pretty well, but the formula seemed dried out when I opened it for the first time. It flakes every time I use it which is really annoying and irritating. I never leave it open, and I screw it tight every time and it just seems to get drier and drier. I will definitely never re-purchase this product.

I bought this mascara because of all the hype. it simply is a blah mascara. cover girl and maybelline have so many better ones. it takes forever to build the lashes and you won't get much length and i have very long lashes. if it is possible this is the very first mascara i have ever bought that made my lashes shorter!!!!! CRAP

Ok, I am going to have to jump on the hater train with this mascara. I say its meh to say the least. I have this in waterproof. I always buy waterproof mascara because it holds curl. I find regular non water proof never holds a curl for me. I did not find that it clumps or smudges. Never flaked for me so I have to give it praise for that. On the other hand minimal volume and to my lashes. I did expect more but for the price... there or so many "drugstore" brands that do the same thing. I look for a lot of volume in mascaras , this is so hyped to give you nice thick full lashes and it simply does not!

Not the mascara for me! Having always been a reviewaholic, this was the first mascara I ever purchased. I was so excited! I'm not sure if others had this problem, but I simply found the brush too big to maneuver. I wasn't able to easily reach my smallest lashes and ending up getting this stuff all over my lids. I will however say that the formula is great. With a different brush, I found it worked a lot better. Having said that, it simply isn't worth the price tag.

Oooooh, I love this one! I even like how it smells. I love the fat brush and the volume is phenomenal. I've repurchased it a few times but I haven't had a tube in a little while. The only reason I give it a 4 instead of a five is that drugstore mascaras are really excellent these days, making the price on this baby a tad outrageous. For now I'll stick to those, but I'm sure I haven't used my last tube of this stuff.

This has been my HG mascara for years. I have really fine, blond lashes and this accentuates them SO much. Don't be scared of the massive brush- it builds massive volume. For some reason I find it can be flakier when I first start using the tube, have no clue why. It's super buildable and yes if you use too much it can become clumpy and over the top. I will also say it's not the best if you're going for a makeup-free 'natural' look because your lashes stand out way too much. But for my boring lashes it makes them look almost like false lashes.

Really cannot understand what the fuss is about with this mascara. Saw it on other people and thought it looked lovely and natural as well. Used it and it was so disappointing. Very clumpy & claggy; and the brush is not user friendly, kind of fat and stubby and incredibly difficult to do anything with. Definitely not worth trying. For the record my preference is Shu Uemura Basic for natural lashes and a brilliant brush - of course that is discontinued isn't it. continued >>

Horrible! I bought this a few years ago bc of the great reviews it received. I went to my local Sephora and I was so excited to try it....The formula was like a paste or more like clay....it was horrible...it was so dry and made my lashes clumpy. I returned it and got a new one and it was the same. I gave up on it and decided to get something else.
