I love this as toner! I bought Chtoura Garden's orange blossom water when I was in Egypt visiting my sister who is studying there. It comes in a bottle of 16 floz and it was darn cheap! It has a nice floral scent. I'm not so sure if they have any preservatives in it but on the very simple bottle, the ingredients only lists 2 things; water and orange blossom essence. Also, it is a product of Lebanon. Well I don't knowwww :/
The way I make my toner is by mixing this water with Bragg's apple cider vinegar using 1:3 ratio in a glass bottle and with a few drops of tea tree oil. The tea tree oil and orange blossom water really mask the awful acv smell and makes it smell so much more tolerable. I have no issues with the smell of acv actually but my younger sister does.
This has done wonders to my skin. This toner 'formulation' makes my skin really really soft, cleaned most of my blackheads off and keeps my pores clean. No blackheads guys! I'm impressed! It also makes my skin glow (this is due to the presence of alpha hydroxy acids in the acv although I did read somewhere that both rose water and orange blossom water improve blood circulation as well so I guess that helps too)! Think of that pregnancy glow, that healthy red flush on your skin yup.
My skin care regimen only consists of natural products so probably that helps too with my overall complexion (african black soap as cleanser, that special toner of mine and whipped shea butter as moisturizer).
I have tried toning with only apple cider vinegar mixed with regular water and I have to say, I do see a difference when I replaced regular water with orange blossom water! Makes my skin really reallllyyyyy soft and poreless!
I adore Orange Blossom as a toner. My skin is baby soft so let me tell you ladies some of the benefits of this as a toner. Mine is from Morocco and is a hydrosol which is when the plant essence is captured during the essential oil steam distillation process. This gives you the most goodies for your face. Orange water is excellent for oily and sensitive skin. I also think it would be excellent for mature skin as well as it leaves it so supple and plump.
It helps sooth, acne, redness, and irritation while purifying your complexion at the same time.It encourages cell regeneration and works to reduce puffiness by actually working with the Lymphatic system. Another cool thing for someone my age at 33 is it increases collagen production and cell regeneration which is great because I'm using Retin-A. It also has mild antibacterial properties which makes it excellent for us girlies dealing with acne:)
It also has mild calming properties which help reduce stress and caffeine jitters(gotta luv that:)! When I read this I thought this was interesting if you spray it on your tummy it helps with digestive issues and things such as cramps oh yes a natural helper for cramps as a chick I really dig that! It also mixes great with like a light musk for an awesome perfume.
So to my face it has done some pretty amazing things. It does what is stated abov with daily use I use it whenever I want on my skin after the shower, to set makeup, and to tone after I wash my face. It doesn't dry my skin out at all which is a must for someone like me on RA. I wash with Shiseido cleansing oil, tone with my Orange Blossom water . Wait 20 minutes then apply my RA I usually finish now with a pretty heavy moisturizer an hour later. I have been doing this for about 3 weeks since the weather changes and my face is less red the peeling is stopping and my skin feels so healthy! I love this stuff and alternate between a rose toner. Since I have been doing this my skin is fantastic and i really attribute it to my routine plus the Orange Blossom toner is helping immensely with oil control. I really recommend this to ladies who don't like rose toner or need something to incorporate into their skin care that is natural and works give it a try you won't be disappointed.
I love the Cortas Orange Flower Water. I have tried the same brand's rose water and found that the scent made me feel ill - and so decided on a whim to get the orange flower water.
I use it mainly to clean my eyes and to spray for a light perfume. I pour it into a spray bottle when I get it and first wash out my eyes with cool water and then take a cotton ball and get it wet and spray several sprays of the orange flower water on it and hold it to my eyes.
This whitens them and leaves them feeling very fresh!
I stopped using rosewater as a toner because my bf hated the smell of roses and I used it everyday, especially before going to sleep. I thought I would try orange water because I was curious and because it would hopefully placate him, too. I have to say I love it, especially compared to rose water, which is more drying. I soak some cotton in orange water and clean my face. I use it in the morning instead of splashing my face with water and I use after my cleanser at night to remove any makeup that could potentially be left on my face. I follow up with my day cream in the morning and jojoba oil at night. I love it and will continue to use it. It is especially affordable and does smell lovely (so far no bf complaints).
I buy "Cedar" brand at my grocery store for $1.99 a bottle. It is located in the ethnic food aisle. At this price, I can use it very liberally and the results have been great! It is soothing, finishes my cleansing process and preps my skin for moisturizer. Orange blossom water is distilled from the neroli blossom of the bitter orange tree; it is supposed to have great anti-redness properties. Psychologically, orange blossom water has calming, uplifting action. I have used every toner under the sun, and though my favourite product line is Avene, I will continue to purchase this orange blossom water. Smells heavenly, reminds me of the south of France. Skin type: mature, oily yet dehydrated, tending to rosacea.
