When I use this balm it instantly moisturize my lip.The flavor I have is spearmint and it smells so good like when you put it on everybody can smell it but don't worry it is light.
I have been using this product since I was a teenager. Cherry and strawberry are my favorite flavors. I have tried all kinds of lip balms, but they always leave my lips dry and chapped. I'll be a lifelong user of Chapstick.
This is a review for the Chapstick Classic flavor in the black tube.
I am often allergic to SPF and lip balms/glosses/lip sticks if they contain SPF or any flavor. However, this is the only lip balm I can wear that contains both. For some reason I do not break out in hives from this product as I would if I used the Cherry or Strawberry flavors.
I love to wear this balm when out and about to protect my lips from the sun rays. I will continue to purchase for as long as it is available.
2 lippies off for white petrolatum being the only moisturizing agent in this balm. I wish it contained cocoa butter or shea butter instead to offer actual moisturization. But I will use another balm under it for that then this on top for the sun protection.
Overall, I recommend this product!
I love Chapstick, all the flavoured ones taste/smell great! I slap them on every night before bed and I never have dry lips- leave your lips feeling soft and nourished, I think everyone should have at least one!
I may have one of the worst cases of chapped lips. Mine are chapped, cracked and constantly peels off all year long even though I dutifully exfoliate it regularly. This has happened for about 7 years now and none of the products I've used seems helpful. My friend gave a strawberry Chapstick and it really improved my lips at first. Like, for the first time in 7 years, I could actually feel the softness of my lips and there's no layer of dead skin on it. I was totally grateful for that! However, after 5-6 months of using, all of the chapping, peeling came back again and Chapstick barely helps in mosturizing anymore. So I've stopped using it. Guess this can't cure my lips and I'm looking for another products.
I feel like people want to love chapstick even if it's not a good product. This really does make my lips smooth, however it dries them up and chaps them afterwards.
Chapstick is actually a decent product for the money paid, especially compared to Burt Bees or some of the other highfalutin lip balms. I like the original (one that has camphor scent) and the peppermint flavors. I do not think it nourishes the lips in any way, but it does add a layer of protection from the cold and wind.
I am just wary of the oxybenzene (?) or similar 'controversial' ingredients in this balm.
One nice use I found, is to melt the lip balm on very low heat and add rose and vanilla essential oils. Voila! We have a low-cost rose salve ready! It smells sweet and feels good on the lips too. I use a mix of rose, lavender and vanilla (rose being higher percentage). Smells delicious. One could also add a little olive oil or apricot kernel oil, to make the balm thinner.
Of course, I also have the original camphor scented balm handy!
I'd have to say that hands down this is the BEST lip balm I've used...and I've tried many. My favorite would be Cherry. There's someting about the scent that's so comforting to me. I can still remember when my dad kept a tube with him at all times when I was a kid. He always had the unscented one (black tube) and I'd always beg to use it. Now as an adult, it's my go to lip balm. Nothing compares to the quality. I love how soft it makes my lips.
I've been using this brand every since I was born! This has never failed me and I will always have 2 or 3 of these around my house. They heal dry and chapped lips and makes them super soft for my lipstick and lip gloss. It is very light, not very greasy. And Chapstick has many different flavors and they taste like it too.
But anyway- I'm always gonna buy this again
