I have been using this for several months and I really love it for my dry, sensitive, rosacea-prone, breakout-prone skin. It's my perfect summer morning cleanser. It cleans gently, without drying at all and leaves no residue. It is completely fragrance-free. It's too gentle to remove makeup very well, which is why I only use it in the mornings. So many people have recommended Cetaphil to me, which is similar in texture to this cleanser. But for some reason, Cetaphil doesn't work for me at all and I feel like a greaseball an hour after I wash my face with it. I never really feel like it cleans my face and I feel like it leaves a lotiony residue. But with this one, my face gets really clean without being dried out at all. I have found that it's very reasonably priced on Amazon (20% less than anywhere else). This one is much cheaper than the Avene extremely gentle lotion cleanser, and for some reason I can get away with using much less of this one. It may not be moisturizing enough for my dry skin in the winter, so I will switch to the Avene gentle lotion cleanser then. Highly recommend, will repurchase forever.

I have used this cleanser a few years ago for about a year and wanted to see if I would like it again, so I tried a sample of it. At first sight this cleanser looks like a mild cleanser, because it is non-foaming and your face does not feel dry after using. If you look at the ingredientlist it is not a gentle cleanser after all, especially because of the SLS. In the year that I used this cleanser I had slightly burning skin (acne rosacea) almost every day, by using it again the uncomfortable feeling returned, so I know now that it was this cleanser, so will def. not buy again.

Hands down the best cleanser if you have atopic dermatitis, eczema or just very sensitive skin. I have combination/dry skin and eczema so it's been very difficult finding a cleanser that does not strip my skin. I'm not too sure how well this removes makeup as I use my makeup removal wipes for that purpose but after I remove my makeup I followup with a dime size amount of this cleanser and my Clarisonic. My skin after washing does not feel tight like when I've used other cleansers and my skin no longer looks blotchy after washing. Definitely a keeper.

I like this no rinse cleanser from Avene a lot and noticed a huge difference not using tap water to rinse my face. Tap water may contain chlorine and other harsh substances that can wreak havoc on skin. I would advise to use a toner to take off all traces of make up. Leaves skin soft, supple and comfortable. During the hot days of summer, I will use it with water every few days but for the winter months this facial wash will be better than ever. Can be used on the eye area and lips.

I used this product when I got really irritated skin because of an indigestion problem. It instantly calmed my skin down - red areas were becoming normal skin color.
It is for all skin types so if you have a specific problem like oiliness you should use this only when you absolutely need something to cleanse without any sort of irritation.
It also calms down irritatied ares caused by waxing.
I successfully used this cleanser as a treatment for any irritation even after I began using a different stronger cleanser for combination skin.

When I developed rosacea, I turned to the Avene range, which I had occasionally used in the past, on and off. It didn't soothe the redness or calm the rosacea, and it left my skin wanting more moisture. It's convenient to use, but I didn't find it helpful for my skin type.

Apart from the texture, I don't find Avene's Extremely Gentle Cleanser for Intolerant Skin to be that similar to the comparitively cheaper Cetaphil Gentle. If possible, I find the Avene to be even gentler in comparison to the Cetaphil. I hated the Milk Cleanser recommended for Dry (which I have) to Very Dry skin, and I knew the Oily/Combo gel cleanser would be too strong. This, apart from the Cold Cream, was the last alternative. And I am quite impressed with it.

I have dry, reactive, sensitive skin that can get a couple of PMS breakouts, though I'm generally not acne-prone. My face can get quite ruddy if I use the wrong products. The Intolerant Cleanser says it is for 'fair, thin, prone to redness skin'; all of which I have in spades. I don't think this really calms my skin anymore than any other gentle cleanser, but it does clean without stripping the skin. It also has not caused me any breakouts, flaking skin, or flare-ups, so, definately a good cleanser for my skin.

This cleanser does claim on the box to both cleanse the skin, as well as remove makeup. I am not enough of a hygeine cowboy to attempt this, but it makes a real nice gentle cleanser for in the morning. This, combined with Avene Thermal Water to tone, and moisturizer makes my skin feel fresh before I put on makeup.

The price is my main complaint. I will only buy this if Shoppers Drug Mart or Murale is having a sale on Avene skincare, or offering an Optimum Points promotion. That said, I did have to use less of this than I did of Cetaphil. I bought a 250mL bottle of Cetaphil Gentle, and the 200mL Avene Intolerant, and found using once a day (Avene during the day, Cetaphil at night after OCM or LRP Toleriane to remove makeup, if need be), the Avene lasted 2 weeks longer. Though this is $27.50 before tax regularly priced at Shoppers, on sale, with Cetaphil regular price it works out to a closer price, though the Avene is still a bit more expensive. So, one lipstick knocked off for comparitive value.

All in all? Will buy again (and have), but will wait for a promo or sale.

ETA 11/02/10: after using this twice a day, and replacing Cetaphil Gentle at night (after LRP Toleraine Dermo-Cleanse or shu A/O for makeup removal), I am bumping this to 5 Stars overall and HG Cleanser status. Along with Caudalie's Pulpe Vitaminee First Wrinkle Serum, I have noticed an improvement in skintone and eveness. My skin seems less ruddy than it did with Cetaphil in the PM. I don't know if it's the Caudalie, or this, or the combination of the two, but I'm very impressed with the improvement in my skin.

I *like* this cleanser. It doesn't cause irritation or breakouts. It just didn't wow me.

I have combination skin prone to breakouts. I have been using this product for just over a month and alternate it with a deeper cleaning product. This combination has been successful for me so far.
At first my skin didn't feel completely clean after using this, but I believe I was used to strong anti-oil/anti-blemish products which stripped my face of any moisture, which this does not. It cleanses well and leaves my skin feeling moisturized.
I can't speak to the Cetaphil comments, since I have only found it once where I currently live and it was actually more expensive than this, so I'm happy with my purchase.

Contrary to what quite a few people have said, this stuff isn't much like Cetaphil in regards to differing ingredient lists.
So far I like this stuff, I haven't had it for long though. It feels very gentle, isn't at all drying after wiping off...my skin feels happy. It removes things well but when an associate was helping me with it, I tried the toner too and it took off all remaining residues...So I don't know if it would take two or three turns with using it and wiping it off to make sure I got everything, maybe I'll follow with wiping with water instead of using the cleanser multiple times at once.
I can imagine that this will last me awhile and it's not going to irritate my skin, and I think I'm pretty sensitive. But I saved my receipt just in case.
I have been trying to use only completely natural things on my skin, like Fuller's Earth to cleanse, and I'm going to try Rosehip oil as a moisturizer. So buying this didn't help with that goal but at least it only contains what it needs to, I suppose. I'll try to see if I can note a difference between using this, and Fuller's Earth.
EDIT: This product did not cleanse very well. It still never irritated me or anything, but I had to use like two cotton pads (front and back on both of them) to try to get everything off. It was still gentle on me so if it cleansed better, I might have stuck with it. Definitely not worth the cost. I prefer the oil cleansing method now.

This is like an expensive version of Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. It works the same and even looks the same. The texture is more watery though and there's a cooling effect to it upon application. This is not the same cooling as menthol but more of water on the skin type of cooling. Did not irritate me. That's the difference between this and Cetaphil. A bit too expensive for my liking with average results. Very soothing and calming on the skin. Not drying at all. I rinse with water instead of wiping because I don't like any residue left on my skin. If I feel my skin is really dirty then I wipe and then rinse off.

I have to say I am really loving this cleanser so far. Avene just came out in all the CVS stores in my area so I was pretty excited. I purchased two trial size packages and this cleanser was one of them. I have used Cetaphil liquid for almost 15 years, of course switching products every so often only to have a horrible reaction and have to go back to old faithful Cetaphil. Lately I hate Cetaphil but it was the only cleanser that I didn't get nervous about my skin having an adverse reaction. My skin was always dry and I kept breaking out. I am so thrilled I tried this cleanser. If you have to use Cetaphil but your not happy with it, you might want to try this cleanser. I have used it now for three weeks. I apply it with my fingertips and massage in very gently, eye makeup too, and then remove it with cotton pads. I don't wear a ton of makeup but I always wear eye makeup and concealer and this removes everything very well. I guess you are supposed to remove it with their Thermal Water, which I purchased, but I haven't decided if I like that or not. My skin is sensitive and i have slight rosacea and acne prone. I have noticed a real improvement in my skin. EDIT: So even though I do really like this, it is becoming like a more exspensive Cetaphil to me. It is very gentle but i don't feel like my skin is clean.

well, I totally believe this product is mainly designed for places where water condition is unimaginable! It is very gentle even for my super sensitive skin, but doesn't calm much redness at least I don't see visible difference after one week. And sometimes it is not easy to wipe it off without hurting my skin. So I'd rather stay with original rinse-off formular. But nice product if you cannot find clean water to wash your face, though.

If you like Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, you'll like this. In fact they seem to be the same thing, except this costs more, so I'll be sticking with Cetaphil!

I have found a cleanser that does not dry out my very sensitive acne rosacea prone skin. It cleans off my make up, though I do use it twice. It leaves no residue and my skin has calmed down with the redness almost totally gone. Ic an not even begin to say how happy I am with this product.

My skin = crazy sensitive. This product was, I believe, designed for the most sensitive skin out there. When I purchased this one, my skin was going threw a very dry stage (in my case, this always equals to extremely sensitive as well). Every time I used this product, my face would burn!! How ironic, since this is made for "intolerant skin". I was very displeased, especially since it sucked as a cleaner too.
