I have tried a few different top coats before and thus far this is my fav. Here are some reasons why:
-Doesn't make my nail colors bleed when I apply
-Leaves a smooth shiny finish
-And most importantly....have I mentioned how quickly it dries! (the Insta-Dri name is very appropriate as it does dry quickly)
*on a side note I will mention that I'm unsure if this significantly extends my manicure and prevents chipping when compared to other topcoats as I haven't properly tested it out. I work a lot with my hands and find that my manicure wear time is about 2 or 3 days regardless of which top coat I use. Nonetheless, I still really enjoy this top coat and would recommend
I'm honestly not a very big fan of Sally Hansen products, but this is the only product from them that I've repurchased. I'd say it dries relatively quickly but your nails will still be tacky (not wet but definitely still prone to indents and some smudging, if you rub against something too hard) for a good half an hour after you put this stuff on.
The brush is a good size but if you get any product on the neck of the bottle, good freakin' luck getting it open again. My biggest issue with this product is that when you're about halfway through the bottle, it becomes gloopy and sticky and stringy with the consistency of melted cheese on pizza.
This definitely isn't the best fast drying topcoat I've ever used, there's a giant round salon sized bottle by Pro-FX you can buy at walmart for a dollar less that's about four times the size that doesn't get gloopy at all, even when you're at the very bottom that I would recommend instead. However, I usually tend to keep a bottle of the Sally Hansen stuff around, just in case.
After test driving this for several weeks, here are my pros and cons:
-Good consistency, not too thick or too thin
-No shrinkage or pulling at the cuticle
-Does not prevent chips whatsoever. I am someone who is careful with their nails and polish generally doesn't chip on me, but this provides no chip resistance.
-Prone to quick tip wear
-Dry time is not quick at all
-Prone to bubbling, if you are not careful
Verdict: This would be a great polish refresher, as it is not prone to shrinkage and has fantastic shine, which makes my mani look very fresh for days. I would suggest using this on top of NYC Grand Central Station polish (used as a top coat).
This is a decent top coat, but it's not great. It dries the surface in less than a minute, but it still takes a while for the nail polish to completely harden and I've messed up my manicure many times thinking it was dry but was not. As for the anti-chip claim, I do think it helps prevent chips. I am usually able to last about a week, and even then it's mostly tip wear, nail growth, and loss of sheen, with very minor chips. The one time I did not use this, my nail polish chipped the next day. Another thing I like is that it helps level mistakes. As many previous have mentioned this gets really thick and goopy by the time you use up half the bottle. I have more than 1/3 of the bottle left and it's getting way too difficult to work with. I can still use it on my fingers since it requires less product and brush strokes, but I have a very hard time getting it to apply on my thumbs without getting lumpy and bubbly. For this reason, I don't plan on re-purchasing.
This top coat is the best out there iMO. I used to use Seche Vite but it would get gummy and hard to use about half way through the bottle. Also, it would separate around the edges of my nails. Once I tried this top coat, I was in love. It dries very fast, gives a great shine and makes my mani's last over a week without chipping. It's pretty cheap compared to other top coats. This is definitely my HG so I will repurchase again.
This is my favorite top coat that I've tried so far! It dries my polish really fast and leaves it a nice shiny finish. I didn't find my polish lasting longer than usual though ... I'd say it'd go without chipping for a few days. I was pretty disappointed that i had about a third left before I threw it away because it got too goopy and was impossible to use. I definitely recommend this top coat though!
I'm a quick dry top coat fiend and I've always been sketchy about Sally Hanson. But this insta dri top coat is the bomb.com!!!! Before purchasing this I was using a revlon quick dry top coat... Which I HATED because of how small the brush was and how thin and greasy the polish was... After that I moved on to pro-fx quick dry high gloss too coat which I LOVED!!! Dries super quick and super glossy. Almost makes polish look like a gel manicure BUT it can go on pretty thick and goopy sometimes. I bought the Sally Hanson insta dry because they don't sell the pro-fx at target and wasn't too excited. It sat in my drawer for months and I finally used it today. All I want to say is that this product is awesome. My nails dried ALL THE WAY THROUGH in like two minuets. They're also pretty shinny ( not as shinny as pro-fx makes them). I don't like how pricey it was (especially because pro-fx is like 3$) but I can honestly say that the Sally Hanson insta dri was worth the cost. Dried quickly, smooth, and with amazing shine!
I was a nail biter for just under 24 years. So now I've stopped and they are growing I'm very much in love with painting them. I just get very annoyed when I do a beautiful manicure and have waited 30 minutes per coat only for them to smudge everywhere. I had a look at reviews for "fast drying top coats" and Seche Vite was number one. Followed by this! I love Sally Hansen stuff and it's a brand I trust. I was going to order some Seche Vite online and then I saw this is the shop and bought it. Only £2 cheaper but I'm so happy I bought it. I used it with Barry M polish. I put a base coat on, waited 2 minutes, 1 coat of colour waited 5 minutes, another coat of colour, waited 2 minutes like it said on the bottle then I applied the top coat. I waited around a minute and they were bone dry. I even tried to smudge them and I couldn't. Within 10 minutes of painting I'd washed my face, brushed my teeth and put my pjs on and still no smudges!!!! BRILLIANT. I shall be buying this again :D
Before I started using this top coat, I was using Seche. I loved how fast it dried and how shiny my nails were, but my nails chipped so bad that I had to stop using it. I think that this top coat is very similar to Seche, but better. It dries fast, leaves a shiny finish, and my nail polish rarely ever chips. I have bought a countless number of bottles over the past year and a half to two years and I will continue to buy this over and over again.
I enjoy this topcoat for these reasons: 1) It dries pretty fast 2) it makes my nail polish last longer 3) it makes the polish look sparkly and glossy
The only complaint I have is that after I use a little over halfway the top coat ends up very gloopy... I think I will try it again and see if I run into the same problem. I will try to thin out the polish and see. Currently I am using Revlon's top coat and it works pretty good as well...though it doesn't give the same sparkly shine.
