I love the formula of the color whispers and though the pigmentation with these is usually sheer but buildable this shade is bright and intense with just one swipe. It is too bright for my liking so I prefer to apply it with my finger rather than straight from the tube. The texture is somewhat slippery so they aren't very long lasting but I prefer the formula over the longer lasting (but thicker & more dry feeling) revlon lip butters. I want to buy several more shades from this line!

Love this color. This is the most pigmented shade in the line. It reminds me of Rebel by MAC but not as dark/opaque. It's a gorgeous color that I believe is universally flattering.

all of the other color whisper products that i tried were extremely sheer and needed two or three coats for color. berry ready, however, is extremely pigmented. i was hoping it would be a little less solid, as this color is more of a scream than a whisper, but the only thing keeping me from complaining about the over-pigmentation than advertised was the gorgeous color. it's very buttery, too, so it doesn't feel dry at all, like some lipsticks do. because it's so pigmented, it stains a little as well, so that's either a pro or a con, depending on you.
packing is really cute, a slim little container that says 'color whisper.' maybe i'll pick some more up when it's on sale, it's a little pricey for what i think it's worth.

Gorgeous rich color on my NW20 skin, almost black hair, brown eyes and rosey lips. People keep talking about how sheer these are, but not all of them. Berry Ready delivered gobs more color pay off than I anticipated. I was almost disappointed because I wanted something I could just pop on, but Berry Ready does require a mirror & liner. It is a bummer I am just getting this shade now as Spring is here, this would have been gorgeous for Fall/Winter on me. I don't wear dark lippies in Spring/Summer. So I am tucking this away for September.

FYI-The Bare to be Bold one, for a "nude" lippie again, delivered a lot more color pay off than imagined. It completely muted out my rosey toned lips. So not all of these are sheer.

I have learned the hard way that certain lipstick formulations don't work for my somewhat naturally lined lips. I love the matte look, but it makes every line in my lips stand out and it's not a pretty sight. So then the creams: still not great for me, same problem. Then I discovered sheer lipsticks. Yup. Finally. Sheer color that works with the texture of the lips and forgives a bit! This rates a "best" from Paula Begoun (I'm a fan) so I decided to get one. I don't really like the pale shades and it seems like 1/3 in this line are pale pinks/nudes or coral shades. The "red" didn't seem like a true red. And orange: not for me. So I opted for the Berry shade. Wow. Outstanding beautiful color. To me the word "berry" evokes colors tending towards red, like a raspberry or strawberry. This has no red tones to it. It is a deeper blue-based pink/rose. Lovely and vivid and more pigmented that I would have suspected given the word "whisper" in the name. It feels smooth and light, a little slick, but comfortable. Not quite as thick as the Revlon lip butter I have in Red Velvet. It leaves a little bit of a stain as it wears off which is nice; you can "refresh" the color with some lip balm, or just reapply. I'd buy this again, maybe in the Plum shade. I wish there were a true red or a medium red-brown in the line to try. In spite of all the colors, several of them seemed redundant or so light that any difference in shades would not "read" on lips. But this is a lovely product. Maybelline and other "low end" cosmetic lines are really starting to come out with some excellent products for those of us who can't afford luxe products (that might be crappy in spite of the high price point!). Well done, Maybelline.

This new release at the drugstore is amazing! It feels really silky and smooth on the lips, but be careful when you're smacking your lips together! It can sometimes go out of your lipline. Other then that, this color is a gorgeous berry-red color, and has a very buildable formula. I love wearing this product sheer on my lips because it enhances my natural lip color, and doesn"t look overly dramatic. However, if you're a BRIGHT lipstick girl, you'll definitely be able to make this lipstick look opique and pigmented to the MAX. What surprised me the most was how lightweight it felt on my lips, and how the color payoff was so outstanding! It feels very moisturizing on the lips when freshly applied, but I'd still recommend you to apply a lipbalm before hand. This lipstick tends to set on your lips, leaving a stain that can feel a bit drying later on. But this is a great product, considering its price compared to other drugstore lipsticks currently available, and has adorable packaging! Definitely want to try some of the other shades!

Maybelline's brand new Color Whisper lipsticks will give you "Sexy, soft, see through color" with "just a kiss of shine". Many people are calling Color Whisper Maybelline's answer to the incredibly popular Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters. Maybelline describes the formula as "pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel. No heavy waxes or oil." There are currently twenty shades to choose from; I have one shade, Berry Ready. I normally wouldn't have chosen this shade, I was leaning towards Cherry On Top or Orange Attitude, but they were all compromised. I bought my Maybelline Color Whisper lipstick at Walmart (does that explain all the compromised lipsticks?) for $5.94. Each Color Whisper lipstick contains 3g (.11oz) of product. This lipstick was made in America. Maybelline does test their products on animals. By the way, believe it or not this is my first Maybelline lipstick!
I kinda love the packaging for Maybelline's Color Whispers. The square, transparent cap matches the color of the product, which is always really visually appealing. The name of the product is written on the cap in silver, cursive lettering. Very cute. The tube it's self is silver, with a square base and rounded body. The twisting mechanism is very smooth. The cap can be a little stubborn to remove, but I'd rather have a cap that sticks a bit than one that falls off. The shade name and number can be found on a sticker on the bottom of the tube. I think the packaging is cute and sleek, very eye catching.
The texture of Maybelline's Color Whisper Lipstick is amazing! These are so smooth and soft. The texture is barely comparable to Revlon's Lip Butters, Color Whisper is a much softer, lighter, silkier formula. This lipstick glides on so nicely, where as I found that the Revlon Lip Butters had a bit of a waxy pull to them. Application can be a little bit tricky though, the creamy texture can slip around on the lips, smearing out of the lip lines. A lip liner might be a good idea. Color Whisper has a lovely, moisturizing feel on the lips. These lipsticks also give a subtle shiny, but not glossy, finish. Because of the slick, moist nature of the Color Whisper formula, these lipsticks don't have the best wear time. I experience a lot of transference, especially onto straws and cups. I get about 45 minutes of initial, glossy wear, and then about two hours of a residual, stain-like color. I'm sure wear time differs from shade to shade, Berry Read is one of the darkest shades, the lighter ones may not stain like this one. Oh, and the scent and flavor? Virtually non-existent.
Berry Ready is, as you probably already guessed, a berry shade. This shade is somewhere right between a blue-red and a purple, and has a cool undertone. Despite being on the darker end of the spectrum, I find it quite complimentary against my very fair skin. I think Berry Ready could suit just about anyone with cool or neutral undertones, I think it'd look particularly lovely on someone with very dark skin. I've heard a lot of people describe the Color Whisper line as having sheer color payoff, Maybelline even calls it "see through", but that certainly isn't true for Berry Ready, which goes on nearly opaque in one swipe and entirely opaque in two. The intensity of Berry Ready can be built up, it applies a pinky berry color, but can change into a nearly purple hue with just two additional layers. By the way, Berry Ready pairs wonderfully with Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Dare Devil.
I'm a fan of Maybelline's Color Whisper Lipstick in Berry Ready! The only thing I would improve is the slippy texture, apart from that I love it! I've been wearing it very frequently and will continue to til the warmer months. I love this lipstick's packaging, and I love the light, buttery, moisturizing texture even more. In my opinion, Maybelline's Color Whisper lipsticks are far superior to Revlon's Lip Butters. I would definitely suggest these over the Lip Butters. I'll definitely try at least one more shade from this range (I have a coupon ^_^), and will repurchase Berry Ready if I work my way through it (which at this rate I will!)
