I have very oily & acne prone skin. I've tried so many products and decided to try the Clinique Acne Solution facial soap. I am very disappointed in the lack of any results in reducing my acne and it leaves a waxy oily layer on my skin after cleansing. Save your money and check out another product. continued >>

I read a ton of reviews and did my research on this product before going to Sephora and checking it out. I was extremely excited to buy this soap, because I tend to break out on my face and my back, and since its a bar, its easy to use on your body and face. I've been using this soap for around 1-1 1/2 months, and I really don't see any difference :( I use it in the morning, and at night and I don't see my skin on my face/back clearing up due to this soap :( I had high hopes for this, since spring and summer are coming around the corner and I could wear a tube top, or instead of foundation, try a tinted moisturizer, but this soap hasn't been clearing up my problems :(
I think if i did stop using the soap though, my skin would worsen, so I will continue to use this, but I don't think ill be repurchasing :(

I didn't want to review this individually because I did a review on the entire line, but I wanted to give my two cents after seeing all the bad reviews.
Initially, I did not want to buy this because the cleansing foam pump worked wonders on my face and I was afraid of switching to something else. When I was purchasing the cleansing foam, the SA suggested the bar soap to me. She said it foams up even better and lasts much longer. I told her maybe next time. That next time came less than two months later, after I ran out of the cleansing foam. Because I was tired of paying more for less product, I bought the bar soap and hoped it would work as well.
For some months, the bar soap worked just as well. After a while though, my skin must have gotten immune because I began to get breakouts again, but not as much as I did before I started using the Acne Solutions line. Each bar lasted me 5-6 months. At first, I used it night + day. I'd clean my face with a different cleanser to get all my makeup off, and then afterwards I used the bar soap. After a while though, I started using it mornings only.
Several months ago, I ran out and replaced it with a tea tree oil bar soap from Trader Joe's because of $$$. My breakouts were still under control, but after a few weeks I began to break out a little more than usual. Still, it wasn't too bad. I purchased a liquid pump soap (what I am currently using now) to spare a few minutes in the morning and my face hasn't been this bad for years. ): I'm going to repurchase the Clinique Bar Soap next time I'm at Macy's because nothing has worked as well on my skin (besides the cleansing foam, which worked better) than this product.

I like this soap, but it doesn't do anything to clear up my acne. I tried the entire acne solutions line and honestly, none of the products cleared me up.
However, this bar is HUGE (and it comes in a cute little covered container/dish) and I didn't want to waste it. When I'm too lazy to use my Clarisonic or a liquid cleanser, I just go for this at the side of my sink. It's also nice for the days when I just want to get clean... not wearing any make-up, maybe just a bit of powder.
It gives my skin that "squeaky" feeling, which I'm not a fan of... but meh, it's alright. I won't purchase again just because I feel like I could buy a similar bar soap (like Aveeno or Neutrogena) for much cheaper.

I have the acne solutions cleansing bar - hopefully this is the right one, although I don't remember it saying it's anti-bacterial. It looks like aregular bar of soap, and comes in a green protective case, with a little shelf with holes in it for the bar to sit in, so any water drains off.
Anyways, I LOVE this. It's certainly not perfect, but for my it's pretty much the best thing I've ever used on my skin- it doesn't do an amazing job of taking of my makeup, so I either take that off first or double cleanse. That is about the only thing i would improve. The it lathers easily and is pleasant and not harsh on my skin.
It leaves my skin feeling soft and really clean, but not too dry, and for the amount of time it last it's THE BEST value for money - i have had my bar for over a month and it's still way more than 3/4 there. With twice daily use it will last over 6 months - which is great value over the long haul, and way better then the foaming cleaner in the bottle.
I used the similar product by Dove in a moment of desperation, and this is so much better - the Dove bar left my skin feeling gross and dry, and almost like it had a residue on it - this one rinces clean.
I will continue to re-buy.

I use this cleanser twice a day, night and morning.
It does not remove my make up entirely, but cleansers are not really supposed too. At least not this one to my knowledge.
The soap I have doesn't look like the one pictured, the one I purchase is all white and quite small (about half the size of my palm). It is quite frustrating having to lather up the soap every time I go to use it but for keeping my acne away I can deal with it. I gave the packaging such a low score because I have no idea how to store it. I hate the idea of it just sitting out all wet and ick, but how are you supposed to dry off soap? It just comes shrink wrapped, I know the larger one comes with a case which I keep in the shower but I still hate the thought of putting something on my face that's been sitting in water. Bleh!
Despite this I really, really love it. It doesn't feel harsh but it still is quite thoroughly cleansing. I don't find it dries out my skin at all but I am oily verging on very oily. This in conjunction with the other two steps has cleared up my acne and kept it away completely so a little extra effort and some storing issues really aren't a big deal.

Love this! Works well for combination skin, though it might be a little to tough for sensitive skin. After a few weeks use, my skin looks and feels great.

Ugh I hare being a science major sometimes...I get stressed out and te main result of my stress is acne. I mean it's bad enough to the point where my mom can tell when I have a test coming up. So you can only imagined that I have tried every acne product under the sun. Cetaphil worked for a while then it stopped working. Same thing with clearasil. I thought I had found an hg with the neutrogena deep clean soap but my skin was drying out so badly... All hope was lost until I found this clinique soap. I had recently tried the regular clinique soap and I remember how great it worked for my skin tone so I had high hopes for this stuff. And I'm very happy to say that this stuff did not let me down!!!!! I used this stuff for two days and my acne was gone, which was a miracle considering I had two test in one day so I know my skin would have been terrible at this time. This stuff cleared up my acne and really gave me squeaky clean skin! Here's how I use it: I wet my face and rub the bar on my face. Then I take my clarisonic and let that scrub the product into my face. Magic I tell ya!!!! I cannot say enough good things about this stuff.
Oh and the price is practically a steal considering how long it lasts. Since I plan to use this only when I'm breaking out, I expect this stuff to last me 8 months. ( I'm basing this off of the regular soap which I used everyday and it lasted me six months)
Great job clinique, my skin thanks you!
:) :) :)

I'd give this product -1000 lippies if I could. I've been meaning to do a review for 4 years now. 4 years ago when I was 17, I was looking for a quickfix for my acne problems. I came across Clinique's antiacne anti-bacterial soap bar by some cruel twist of fate. This was the only product I was using. I used it for about a month, and then discontinued use because it was too drying. Shortly after discontinuing use, dry patches covered my entire face.
I was horrified, but thought this effect would go away soon enough. I had developed seborrheic dermatitis (face dandruff), induced by this soap bar. Yeah it got rid of my acne, but the tradeoff was far from worth it. It completely messed up the balance of my skin. It basically ruined my life. Btw, I'm 21 now and my skin condition has not improved one bit. I long for those days when I had moderate acne, at least it wasn't as bad (or WEIRD) as the skin I have today. I should sue those bastards at Clinique for all my years of suffering.

Ummmm...I'm not sure if "antibacterial soap" her means they are talked about the acne face and body bar but I'm reviewing the acne bar soap. This soap worked really well for me for a while, I still use it but I ended up having to go get on perscription meds because this just wasn't enough. I prefer this bar over the foaming acne soap becaus it works better, is cheaper, and gentler. The bar last for at least 4 months if not more. It works great on my back and is just about the only thing I've used on my back that did provide results. I don't use the rest of the acne care line, just this bar because I feel the other components are too harsh and when you tackle acne too agressively it makes it worse. As a matter of fact my dermotologist told me I could continue to use this as long as I didn't have any irritation. It's one of the only clinique products I still use. The price is great too, I don't have to cringe when checking out with this stuff.

I love this product! It has cleared up my skin within a couple of weeks. It has also made the texture of my skin much smoother and my skin tone more even. Immediately after washing my face I don't feel that this facial wash has stripped my skin dry, instead it leaves my face feeling clean and soft. I will definitely be repurchasing this product in the future!

I am a forty year old with crazy hormonal skin. I have acne, yet my skin is very sensitive. I have walked passed the Clinique counter with my nose in the air, thinking that this line would be way too harsh for my skin. I never thought that I could use a bar of soap on my face without my face cracking. This soap is very luxurious and lathers beautifully. I remove my makeup first with Take the Day Off balm and then wash with the soap. No lie--this soap, in combination with the Acne Solutions toner, cleared my face in days. I also use the soap on my shoulders before getting in the shower. I make sure to let the soap sit for about 5 minutes and then shower off. This is the only soap that has cleared my shoulders. This little gem is worth it's weight in gold. Don't let the soap aspect scare you away. I use with Retin A at night and have no issues with dryness or peeling whatsoever. God bless you in your quest to find something to help you clear your skin. It's totally trial and error, and very expensive during the process. By far, this is the least expensive thing you can do.

Best facial soap I have ever used in my life. Love love love love! I can't stand foams or bottled cleansers and feel cleaner and fresher using soap. I was getting tired of trying to get my old standby to lather up each day and thought I would do a little soap shopping again. I've tried so many out there, but this one blows them all away! I have always loved the clean smell and feel of Clinique's products, but they never seemed to do that much for me. My acne was flaring again and light therapy seemed to be doing very little these days. I bought this and the matching toner and all I can say is wow!

This soap lathers like crazy (a major plus for someone like me with super oily skin). I am talking lather on steroids here! Rich, creamy and gentle lather which leaves my face feeling so clean and smooth. It feels so fresh and clean! The lather is incredible! Best of all, this simple system of using this soap and the matching toner (Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion) is clearing up everything for me! It's not disrupting my super sensitive skin either! If anything, it's calming things down for me and seems to work better at controlling oil, than their oily skin soap and toner! This soap lasts forever too. Talk about a bargain! I'm in love! Major find! continued >>

I've been using this product for a few months (also using the lotion) and I can see it clearing up my skin. The combo of this and the lotion does leave me dry, and I need to moisturize a lot with it, and stop using it every now and then. I do have to use a lot of it to get all the makeup off my face though, I've noticed it works best when I wet my face and the soap, and apply the soap directly to my face instead of using my hands.

This is the worst product i have ever used. its causing clogged pores and blackheads. i got it for sgd $33 from sephora. It gives you that squeeky clean feeling but actually does not cleanse much at all. All acne-prone ppl should stay away frm this. It also contains TRICLOSAN, something i heard is not good for your skin. Here its called Anti-blemish.

I got a decently sized kit of this routine from for free from the kind lady at the counter. I live in Australia so here this is called Anti Blemish.
Although id much prefer the foam version as its much more convienient, i like this soap, i feel it cleaning my skin well. If im wearing foundation id wash it off with another cleanser first because i dont think this would really take makeup off that well.
After using this my combo skin feels dry and clean, i then follow up with the lotion and moisturiser.
I havnt been using this system for more than a week yet and so far its clearing the pimple i had on my chin from using another cleanser that didnt work. I will update

THE BEST! Not only is the packaging cute, the delivery of this product is on point! Gives an effective and deep cleansing without stripping the skin of moisture. I experienced a skin makeover in general w/ the Clinique series. I went from having moderate acne and scars to having smooth, glowing, clear skin. An HG for me.
P.S. It's also good to finally not have to worry about guys seeing the 'Anti-Acne'/ 'For Oily/problematic skin' label on my soap when they come into my house...

i have sensitive skin, and i tend to have pimples all the time. i cant remember the last time i had 100% clear skin! i have only just started using this product for a few days now and i can already start to see the difference. my skin isnt as red anymore and i dont seem to be getting any more red sore pimples. and my skin tone is evening out. i definitely know what its like to have a sore face from acne! my skin also feels lovely and clean after using it, it does feel a little tight, but after using the toner and clearing moisturiser its ok. my face also isnt itchy anymore. and it came in a cute case :) good luck to all giving it a try :)

I bought this because I had tried just about everything in drugstores for my acne-prone skin and this summer, it has been horrible. I was at the point where I would have tried anything.....so I bought this soap and I LOVE IT! I've only been using it for a week and I can already tell a huge difference, not only with the acne, but with the overall look and feel of my skin. The redness is gone. Also, my skin used to hurt. Anyone with acne can tell you that when you have a bad break-out, your face physically hurts....because the soap is helping the acne problem, my skin feels so much better! It doesn't hurt anymore! And after cleansiing my face, the skin doesn't feel tight, dry or burned. I love this stuff. I'll definitely keep using it:)

I absolutely love this bar soap! I keep it in the shower and use it at least once a day. Sometimes more. I have acne prone/combo oily skin and this does not make y skin tight or dry. It lasts forever and feel as if I've already gotten my money out of it...even though the bar is no where close to being gone. I don't care for the soap dish it comes in and just throw that out. I would like to be able to just buy the bar, but that won't keep me from repurchasing this. I will buy this over and over and over!
