This is my first time to give a comment for a certain product i used here in makeupalley. To start, i have a dry and flaky face... And been hunting for a good foundation that can hide the dryness - but i dont know, i just feel that the coverage of this foundation is ugly, although i will continue to use it and hoping that eventually i will fall in love with this product. But for those who are planning of buying one i would suggest try it 2x before buying :-)

I really dislike this foundation. I had heard amazing things about laura mercier and her foundations and concealers, so iam super disappointed. I thought that if i splurged a little bit to get this foundation that it would be worth it. I have combination skin, but since its getting warmer my skin is getting oiler. The foundation felt heavy on my skin and looked really cakey. when i went to the department store i was returning the laura merciers illuminating tinted moisturizer because it didnt look right on my skin, and the coverage was too sheer for my liking. I told the lady at the counter that i wanted the creme foundation, but she gave me the moisture supreme instead. She told me that the supreme foundation would be better and that the creme foundation was too much coverage. I thought she knew what she was talking about so i let her do her thing. Then when she gave me the foundation, she matched me all wrong!! i got back home and i looked at how dark and fake it made my skin look.. i continuously have the hardest time finding foundations because all the people at the department store match me wrong... they always give me a darker shade than my skin tone!! needless to say i am majorly pissed because i spent 43 dollars on a horrible foundation.

I have been a member of this site for over a year and never wrote a review. I try so much makeup (I feel like I live at Sephora) so I thought I’d help out others by writing reviews as they help me!
I have tried soooooo many foundations, you name it I’ve tried it; Makeup Forever, Stila, Korres, Bobbi Brown, Becca, Lancome, Smashbox etc! I have combination - oily skin but found during the winter I’m more targeted to combination - dry. I tend to break out daily ugh! I tried a sample of this foundation last week and I am far from impressed! This foundation made my dry spots so noticeable!!! I know you should pick your skin but I do and this foundation totally made my dry spots stand out! I will definitely not be buying this!!! Not only does it not last long, cling to dry spot and made my t-zone totally oily … it’s $$$$. I’m going to try the silk crème foundation by Laura Mercier and see how that works! I will admit however the colour matched really good ... i am about a NC15-NC20 and porcelain ivory matched good but quality sucks.

I am always surprised when I read all of the bad reviews about this product, just goes to show you that nothing is the same for everyone. This is my everyday foundation, it is so easy to apply and the finish looks amazing on my skin. I would say it is more towards matte, but my skin does always have a really nice glow. I apply with my Sephora Pro Flawless Airbrush #56 and usually use the Laura Mercier primer first and use a setting powder after. It lasts at least 6 hours while still looking great. Coverage is buildable, but a little goes a looooong way!! I use the sunny beige during the winter and vanilla beige during the winter.

UPDATE: After using this product religiously for about 8-9 months it has lost most of its appeal, and has ended up far in the back of my draws... Not even in the makeup box anymore! Started to notice that the color was never as good as I thought, for some reason I could not get it to last throughout the day anymore. It would start to come off in strange patches, turning orange after a few hours. I tried switching up my routine but nothing was helping. Was starting to dry out my skin A LOT as well. Will keep it at two stars because I was really pleased for a while. Guess the honeymoon is over.

I love this. It is medium coverage. Its smooth, moisturizing, and matte. Not too heavy and not too thin. Not dull, and not shiny. Perfect! I have in tawny beige which is a new color. I am so impressed. This makes me feel so good and hides my skin flaws without a heavy look. It stays fresh looking and professional all day this is amazing!

It's such a shame. I heard so many good things about this brand. Originally I had intended to try out the Silk Creme Foundation but the lady at the counter suggested this instead. Which was a mistake; and lucky I got a sample rather than buying it right of (giving samples in Switzerland is rather unheard of....).
It came on cakey, was too thick, too heavy. Even though they claim it's moisturising and suitable for dry skin, it highlighted the flakey parts of the skin even more. The shading was slightly off, I'm not sure it's yellow based (is it?) as, trying on two different shades and then mixing it, it somehow appeared to make the skin look very pasty and bleached.
Definitely a disappointing product.

I really love this foundation. I'd been using a few others (Chanel, D&G, MAC) and while I was happy with them, I was looking for something newer and more hydrating. I've never tried the old formulation, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I love the fluid consistency - it's very thin - and how evenly it applies. I use a damp sponge and build, depending on how much coverage I'm after. I always look dewy and uncakey. It doesn't cover imperfections that well, but it does even out skin tone and give you a subtle glow. continued >>

First off I did not use the old version of this product, so I cannot compare the new version to the old. However, I switched over to this from a Smashbox foundation, which turned out to be horrible. I went to the LM counter and got a correct color match, have been using this for about 5 days now and I really like it. The blush ivory is a perfect match to my skin, it has real staying power, and it doesn't look like I am wearing foundation. I would say it has medium to full coverage. What is really nice is that it provides enough coverage that I don't need to use concealer, I just put on a second layer of this foundation over blotchy areas. I do use LM illuminating tinted moisturizer underneath, since I don't like primers. Actually, my skin has been looking great the last few days since using this foundation, and I usually can't use the words "my skin" and "great" in the same sentence. I did also buy the special LM foundation sponges to apply this and I have to say those sponges really are better than cheap ones.

What is Laura Mercier thinking? Take a best selling brilliant product then change the formula to something that simply does not look or feel good. The moment I put it on the problems began, it separated, went on patchy, made my skin feel dry and then the colour changed and went strangely dark. What a truly awful product. I have been a customer of this brand for years and considered the old moisturizing foundation the best on the market by a mile. What was the point of changing it at all?

I am so surprised with all the negative comments. I do understand that not every foundation is going to work for everyone.

First of all, the foundation has been reformulated. The company re-released it after making some changes. It now does not have problem separating. It still needs to be shaken very well as some separation of ingredients will occur.

Second of all, It is good for dry skin. That is not to say that if you have dry sin, it will work out perfect. You just have to try it out yourself (at your own risk). I have dry, eczema prone skin and recently had to see a dermatologist re: very very peeling dry skin. This foundation works amazing for my dry skin. Again, I am not saying that it will work out for every dry skinned individual.

Third of all, yes it did oxidize a little bit w/o making me look orange. It got just a wee bit darker. That is why I got a tiny sample and a full size bottle.I did not open the full sized bottle until I was sure it was going to work out for me.

I did not buy the color recommended by the MUA. I instead swatched all the colors except the two lightest ones to make I was going to walk out with the perfect shade.

I am MAC NC40.
Dior Nude 031
LM moisture supreme Suntan Beige (the MUA had recommended golden beige which I did not buy because golden beige had more of a pink undertone)..

Golden beige is half a shade lighter than suntan beige. For me, it boiled down to undertone (pink vs yellow).

It is best applied with a dry sponge in my opinion. I will try it out with a brush though later on.

Will I buy it again, yes I will and I have. I have two bottles of these in case if I run out of one.
