This product was mediocre at best and made my hair kind of sticky. In their defense, most volumizing sprays or foams leave a sticky residue even if they work. This one did not give enough volume improvement to justify a repurchase. I should mention the Aveeno Nourish and Volumize Shampoo and Conditioner combo is fantastic and I gave those a 5 rating!
it is the first time that i am disappointed in Aveeno's product. usually they are pretty good but this time......I have Asian hair (soft and fine) and it does not work at all (no volume added whatsoever....) except making it greasier faster, i don't see any change. my only consolation is that i bought it for 4$cnd (it was half price sales). will definitely avoid next time!!
I wasn't overly impressed. The foam comes out watery, no matter how much you shake it up, for the first while my hair was crunchy and it left some film on it and after a few hours and a few finger combs later my hair was soft but there just was no volume. I am going to stick with the Dove volumizing mousse, it works better for my fine, super straight hair.
I'm on the fence about this. I like that it isn't an aerosol but it isn't the most volumizing product I've ever used. I'm a little worried about how quickly I'll go through it as I have very thick, very fine long hair. I'll probably try another non-aerosol but I'm not opposed to buying this again.
EDIT- I do seem to be going through this really fast; I probably won't buy again.
I really like this foam! Although I don't get a lot of volume from it, it makes my hair look fantastic! I think of it more as a leave-in conditioner in a foam version though. It really makes my hair super soft and offers some hold without being crispy and feeling unnatural. When I go to wash my hair after using this product, it feels like I am rinsing out conditioner....which can be a good or bad thing. It definately helps my hair look healthy, but it is also very heavy by day 2. So if you use this and don't normally wash your hair every day...be prepared to. Especially if you use it at the roots.
I believe this is a DS version of Aveda's Phemolliant. It even smells a little similar, and has the similar wheat in it. It actually smells better than Aveda, I think - just very fresh and clean, not quite as heavy and plant-y as the Aveda equivalent.
I have long, wavy, medium-thick hair. I only need ONE pump of this - so be warned! The first time I tried this, I used like 3 pumps - that's what I do with Aveda. This is either way more concentrated or just has diff ingredients, but since I let my hair air dry, 3 pumps made it slightly crunchy, but more gooey than anything.
I believe that I bought this for about $8 at Walgreens. It is 6.7 oz. Since I only wash my hair about twice a week, and only need one pump per time - this will last a long time!
If you are a person who air dries their hair, this is for you. Even if you don't - this is for you!
Air dryers - this gives your hair the right amount of control and volume -especially if you have natural waves that you don't mind embracing - this looks great.
Blow dryers - at the crown, this will give you oomph, and just enough control at the crown to be able to style effectively.
