This is my go-to daily sunscreen because it goes on nicely without leaving shine or a chalky colour on my face. I have combination skin, however, and unfortunately the hydration doesn't last all day. That being said, you should re-apply sunscreen every two hours, so if I use this again in the afternoon (or before lunch break if I'm heading outdoors) it does the trick.
Never in my life have I been fussed on any particular mosturiser, but then I tried this. I saw it at my local Priceline and decided to check out some reviews to see if it really was as great as it sounded. The reviews were pretty appealing, so I gave it a go. So glad I did! I got it in SPF30, as the SPF45 version isn't sold in Australia. Lots of people have said that the sunscreen smell is overwhelming, but I barely notice it. I personally think it smells like frangipanis. I LOVE frangipanis! The product at hand is very mosturising, a little bit goes a long way. It doesn't leave you looking shiny, and it doesn't make your skin looks greasy. After using, my skin has a slight glow, and looks really soft. On skin, it feels really lovely and unbelievably smooth. This is an amazing product, and I will continue to use it.

It works well as a sunscreen and I have been using it for 2 months already. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't moisturize that much, coz' I have combination skin.
I wouldn't recommend this product for those who have dry or extremely dry skin, unless you use a serum or an additional moisturizer underneath. I was fooled into believing that this was a great moisturizer since it was so greasy. It did not leave a white/gray cast on my aa (nc45) skintone, which is a huge plus. I did not experience any breakouts or skin issues, quite the opposite; my skin drank this up in the winter and spring months. But I begin to notice my dry skin becoming drier and "life-less" and I realized that I was not getting enough moisture for this product. So the greasiness fooled me into believing that I was getting the moisture I needed, but I definitely was not. Normal and oily skin types should love this daily moisturizer, but my hunt continues for a dry-skin friendly spf daily moisturizer.

I wanted to like this product, I really did. With my extremely fair, acne-prone, combination skin, I desperately need a solid sunscreen. Unfortunately, within the first day, my face was clogged and breaking out. My search continues.
Now to business. I've noticed multiple people commenting on the high SPF and felt it my duty as a fish-belly-white complected person to alert the masses, so here is my beauty education aside (feel free to skip): the SPF only measures UVB and actually matters little in the grand scheme of things. SPF 45 only blocks about 1-2% more UVB rays than 30. The most important step by far is repeated and thorough application. For real protection, you should reapply at least a couple times a day, using 1/2 to 1 teaspoon for face, ears, neck, and upper chest - this, of course, varies on how much you sweat, how much sun you're getting, and how big your face is, but still. If you apply frugally, the effect you get isn't half the SPF, it's the square root. If you apply a SPF 45 lotion sparingly, you have the protection of a SPF 6.7 lotion, not a 22.5.
Anyway, education aside aside, it went on matte and remained so throughout the day, was invisible under makeup, and weightless once applied. This is probably a good option for someone with few skin complaints.

Very sheer tint, I think it would match all skin tones.
I've had this moisturizer for over a year now, I only use it when it is really sunny outside. I must say, however, that it is AMAZING. My face doesn't feel greasy, provides a natural sheer coverage, and just feels great on my skin. I would definitely repurchase and recommend.
I've been using this for a few weeks now (actually, I have the SPF 50), and I've been very please with how well it works. This was recommended to me by my dermatologist to use with my retin-A cream for my acne scars, as she said that my skin was going to get even more sensitive to the sun. I like that it does not smell like sunscreen, because over the years I've grown to really dislike the odor that moisturizers with SPF give off (like Aveeno). This moisturizer has not caused any new breakouts so far, and I will see if this keeps up. But my decision for now is that I would definitely buy this product again.

This is an excellent sun screen that I use daily. It is moisturizing but is very light and non-greasy. I would highly recommend this product!

I am in Australia where the labeling laws mean that no sunscreen can be labeled as more than spf 30 +. This is a review for the combination/oily version in spf 30+. Looking at the ingredients list, the percentage of active ingredients is the same as for the American spf 45.
I am 47 so my skin is no longer as oily as it used to be, however I have large pores which get blocked easily and look for lightweight oil free products wherever possible. This is a lightweight thin lotion that spreads easily and dries quickly to a matte finish. It has a pleasant enough floral fragrance which fades quite quickly. I find that it definitely holds up in hot conditions, but it does make my eyes sting if it runs into them. it has not blocked my pores or given me pimples, it leaves no white cast and it has the added benefit of vitamins a/c/e. If it had a few other antioxidants such as green tea extract it would be even better. As I wear it over an antioxidant serum that's no big deal. The only downside is that it is relatively expensive for a sunsceen, so I only use it on my face and neck, and use something cheaper on my hands and arms. Still this has become my daily sunscreen. For weekends when I expect to be out all day I use a zinc oxide sunblock instead. An excellent product, just remember to shake it well first and don't put it too close to the eyes.
EDIT: 8 February 2011. This stuff really makes my eyes sore. In even moderately warm weather it will migrate towards the eyes. A couple of times I have rubbed my eyes not long after applying the sunscreen, and because there has been some slight residue on my fingers, my eyes have burned like crazy. Sorry but no rebuy and I have downgraded my initial rating from 5 to 2. Ick!!

UPDATE: After a year of use, I've stop using healthy defense and my acne has almost cleared. What a surprise! I definitely WON'T REPURCHASE! *sighs* Where is my daily HG sunscreen?

The sun terribly frightens me. It cause nasty dark splotches and flaky, red-like rashes on my face if I don't wear the right sunscreen.
I am a pale NC 15 asian with acne-prone, and super duper oily skin. Though I may have oily skin, my skin peels, flakes, and chaps frequently.
My HG sunscreen! :D! Love Love Love!!!
Doesn't make my skin break out and doesn't slip off of my oily skin!
I'm a natural fanatic but this sunscreen is great. I will continue to repurchase until I can find a suitable 'natural' sunscreen.
