i looooove all pro longwear i've tried and this is no exception, save a few exceptions (cons): my lip color came apart (booo) and i had to glue it back together. if you see a pic of this you know what i mean. also, if you try to reapply the lip COLOR side too early, it chunks up.
other than that --- i love this stuff, beautiful neutral dusty-rose-ish color, swipe on the color, let dry, sweep over w/ the gloss.. i would complain that the gloss side should be bigger but i use any ol neutral/clear gloss over it so i don't really care. great product.
I am such a MAC-head. I just love MAC-except for this lipstick. Maybe it's my chemistry but this just dries my lips out so bad and crumbles. I couldn't wait to get it off my lips. I was going to buy ELauder but I thought that MAC would be so much better. Wrong. So I bought ELauder in "Made You Blush" and I LOVE it. Wore it last night, no crumbly dry lips, smooth as silk, and stayed beautiful all night. Gotta give MAC low score on this product-at least for me. ):
I purchased this to wear to my wedding and it was perfect. It lasted nearly twelve hours of smiling, drinking, kissing and dinner and cake. I never reapplied it! The lipcolor is a darker rose and the mirror gloss which accompanies it is not as sparkly on the lips as it looks in the tube. It is vital that you let the color coat dry fully before you add the gloss and then let it dry fully before your mouth goes anywhere - no brushing teeth, no sips of water - otherwise it smears. (I liken it to nail polish for the lips) And, you must start w clean, exfoliated lips for it to work its magic.
Lasts and lasts
Color is gorgeous and looked good in my photos
Did not transfer w all the kisses and cake bites
MAC SA was wonderful in helping me pick out the right color
Although I like a v sheer lip, I have also had success using it for every day wear
Price was around $20 - seems reasonable
While it dries, it often smeared on my teeth - once it dried, no problem
Drying on the lips
It is slightly dark on my pale skin
Applicator is sponge and gets kind of gloppy if you don't watch it
Can be a hassle waiting for the color and the gloss to dry
Requires makeup remover or some sort of oil to remove it
We went through our wedding pics last night and I was amazed at what a beautiful smile I had that day - it wasn't all due to Night Rose, yet I credit it plenty.
One of my favorite go to lip colors. I use the gloss that comes with it, and a clear gloss to change it up!
Pros: It's a very wearable, blue-based, mid-toned deep pink that is comfortable as long you wear the gloss that comes with it and it's only slightly drying over time. It lasts around 3 hours with average wear. It's quite opaque. It would look good on a wide range of skintones. If you're looking for drugstore dupe for half the price, I highly recommend LOreal Infallible Never Fail Lipcolor Compact in #200 Teaberry. It's almost exactly the same color, though the gloss that comes with it does not contain shimmer like the Mac does. Cons: I expected it to last longer. After three hours, it was completely gone. It's so opaque, even with the gloss, that it looks really heavy and fake at first. I was hoping for a MLBB look, which this does fade to after 2 hours, but at first it really looks like heavy lipstick. Doesn't feel any different that LOreal and that was disappointing. I thought it would be more special considering it was $24.
Absolutely the best lipstick I have found in at least ten years. I love the neutral pink, it looks great with anything and everything. This SERIOUSLY lasts. I have put it on one day and still had color on my lips the next. No, it is not terribly drying either-- I foundf the Revlon much more so. I do use Mac's lip conditioning balm on my lips in between and that seems to keep my lips just fine.
Honestly, this is a perfect product. The color is a soft, rosy, glimmery pink toward neutral. You can darken it with other shades but I love it by itself. I have already ordered two other colors, including Perennial Rose (a darker, richer shade of pink, more mauvey-rose) but honestly this is my go-to color and the one I carry in my purse.
This is my HG for a nude, daily look.
I had terrible experiences with long wearing lipsticks, I just bought this because the color is extremely similar to a lip tint (from Be Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful) that I adore.
My sister needed to have it as well (as soon as she saw the color on my lips), so this is the second one I own.
This lipstick really stays on your lips for hours - and it doesn't feel too uncomfortable.
Of course it is drying if you compare it with creamy lipsticks, but the staying power is really amazing and there is a lip gloss that comes with it (that I personally don't like and almost don't use at all).
The color is almost the same as the color of my lips - maybe just a bit darker.
I absolutely love this one and I would always buy it again.
I picked this up for my pro kit with brides in mind and I was not disappointed. The color is extremely flattering and with the gloss that comes with it, it takes on a great sparkly shimmer. For a more subdued look, I use either a clear or less sparkly gloss on top. Long lasting yet comfortable on the lips. Would repurchase over and over again!
I've been using pro longwear lustre in night rose for a while. I really like the combo of lipstick and gloss. I'm a smoker so I need a lipstick that stays on my lips. This product certainly does the trick (although the gloss wears off quickly). I like that the color is very close to my natural lip color. That said, I'm beginning to wonder if it's a bit too pink. I may try a different shade for my next purchase.
I've been wary of purchasing another longwear lipstick after a horrible experience with one from Revlon in the past. (It made my lips crack and bleed within a few HOURS of wearing it!)
Recently separated and on the hunt for work and a new place, I wanted something I wouldn't have to worry about applying again and again, or feeling a fool if I left lipstick marks on glasses at interviews/meetings/outings and the like.
I actually had gone to the Elizabeth Arden portion of the store and received no help or service and was constantly looked over for more "dressy" customers! Three women over at the MAC counter were cooing over my daughter, so I figured what the heck, at least they were nice!
The rep was fantastic at helping me pick out this shade and I just love it. I was wary of how it would last and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was still on around midnight, even though the application was made around mid-morning.
As with any longwear, of course it doesn't stand much of a chance against severely greasy foods (as baby oil is the godsend of removers for any longwear product), but it withstands regular foods, teas (not a coffee fan, sorry!), you name it! It even passed the "intense" tests that on the commercials is just chalked up to a kiss on the cheek. ;)
The color is fantastic and works for both the work and nighttime atmosphere, so there's no worry about having to do a quick change if you don't have the time to do it.. Like previous reviews, I love how you can purchase the gloss separately, so there's no massive waste.
Another nice tidbit? (Not sure if this applies to all MAC stores, but this was relevant to my area...) If you return your empty MAC containers to their stores, after you've returned x-many, you receive a free item of your choice (I think just their regular lipsticks or some such sort), which is a pretty nifty recycling program in my opinion!
I'm hoping this shade sticks around, because I absolutely LOVE it! <3 continued >>
