Powder -PUR Cosmetics -4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup (new formula)

on 2/14/2019 1:19:00 AM

I bought this when I was traveling and forgot my makeup bag. The SA at Ulta recommended it after I told her I liked MAC Studio Fix powder. It’s surprisingly good- nice coverage, no breakouts, left my skin looking better than average without looking super made-up. One complaint- it’s really easy to accidentally overdue this. Apply with a light hand or it will look very cakey

Stick -PUR Cosmetics -4-in-1 Foundation Stick

on 1/18/2019 3:04:00 PM

I give this foundation a high rating because it does not break out my HIGHLY sensitive skin (most foundations do). I like how easy it is to apply (I swipe it on my face and blend out with a beauty blender). It blends out well and provides good coverage. One criticism I have is that it seems to settle in the fine lines on my forehead (ew). Perhaps I just need a better setting powder... Regardless, I would recommend this foundation for those of you with sensitive (dry) skin like myself.

Moisturizers -PUR Cosmetics -Get A Lift Firming Facial Cream

on 12/24/2018 1:37:00 PM

I like this moisturizer. It did not irritate my skin, did a nice job of moisturizing and goes on smooth but did not make my combination skin feel too oily. It's a little pricier than I'd expect from this line but the container has more of a lux appearance to it than other skincare products in this line. I've moved on to a new moisturizer in my arsenal but I'm not ruling this out for future purchases.

Palettes -PUR Cosmetics -Goal Digger Vanity Palette - Eyes & Cheeks

on 12/18/2018 10:38:00 AM

OK to be honest I wasn't initially attracted to the PUR cosmetics vanity palettes but I saw them on sale and thought they might be quite convenient for work. The price was so good that I bought both variations: Goal Digger and Dream Chaser.
Goal Digger is loosely more cool-toned and Dream Chaser is loosely more warm-toned.
The packaging is OK. If I'm completely honest I think it looks a little cheap but the palettes are a nice size, feel sturdy, and have a decent mirror in the lid which stays open by itself. Goal Digger has a mirrored lid which collects fingerprints very easily whereas Dream Chaser is more of a matte silver. Both palettes have the shade names on the back which I appreciate. I also like the size of the pans and the palette itself - definitely good for travel/convenience.
Each palette has a blush bronzer and highlighter and 4 eyeshadow (in those split pans that I hate because they're so messy). All shades have some shimmer but there is more noticeable glitter in Goal Digger - not impossible to use in the day but better for night?
First big gripe: the shades in the pans do not look like the pictures on the back of the box. Definitely try and see in person. Second big gripe: the colour curation of these palettes is a bit bizarre to me. Dream Chaser's face products are all quite "light-medium" in tone with not enough contrast between whereas Goal Digger has quite a light highlighter and then quite a deep bronzer. It's almost as though the bronzing shades are the wrong way round. My ideal palette would be a combination of the two. Owning both palettes meant I could mix and match but be aware you may struggle to get a complete look with just one depending on your skin tone.
The quality of the product seems OK and I had no problems with application. The only slightly patchy shade was the purple from goal digger "24/7" which blended out fine. However (and this is the deal breaker for me) I have recently had an allergic-type reaction on my eyes which have been red, flaky and sore and I'm pretty sure these eyeshadows are the culprit as closer inspection of the ingredients showed that they may contain bismuth oxychloride, which I know I'm sensitive to. I know, my bad for not checking first but I first came across Pur Cosmetics as a possible alternative to BareMinerals because they don't use bismuth oxychloride in their foundation and it honestly didn't occur to me that they might in their eyeshadows. Lesson learned. It may not be present in all the shadows - my number one suspects are the darker shades "fantasy" and "good intentions" from Dream Chaser but I don't think I will be experimenting further. Please steer clear if you have sensitive skin! If you don't typically react to any products you might be fine but the colour selection would put me off paying full price for these.

Liquid -PUR Cosmetics -4-in-1 Liquid 14-Hour Wear Foundation

on 11/21/2018 12:17:00 PM

I'm going through all my foundations (I have a large collection of high end foundations), and I tried this one again today. WOW, it's thick and kind of icky. Gives ok coverage but it looks like a mask and the color is off. Using it is like spreading glue on my face. I bought this about two years ago and set it aside; I guess it dried it a bit in the process. At any rate, this thing is going in the trash.
