The Maybelline Company was created by a 19-year-old entrepreneur named Tom Lyle Williams in 1915. Williams noticed his older sister Mabel applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look. He adapted it with a chemistry set and produced a product sold locally called lash-in-brow-line. Williams renamed his eye beautifier Maybelline, in honor of his sister Mabel, who gave him the idea. In 1917 the company produced Maybelline Cake Mascara, ""the first modern eye cosmetic for everyday use"" and Ultra Lash in the 1960s, which was the first mass-market automatic

Eye Shadow -Maybelline -Lemonade Craze

on 7/20/2018 5:29:00 AM

The Lemonade Craze palette contains the following 12 shades of powder eyeshadow: Old Fashioned (chocolate matte), Icepop (mid-pink matte), Strawberry Lemonade (pink champagne shimmer), Berry Ice (ballet pink matte), Citrus ( champagne shimmer), Sweet Tea (fawn matte), Sherbet (peach-toned cream matte), Main Squeeze (ice lemon shimmer), Sugar Coated (copper shimmer), Coral Punch (peach-toned coral matte), Lemonade Craze (canary yellow matte) and Sunnie's (ivory matte). The shadows have a delicate sweet & fruity fragrance (lemonade?), that is so soft that I need to have my nose up against the palette to detect it, and after the palette has been opened a few times there's hardly any scent left.

The strongest point for this palette is that the none of the shades are neither too warm or too cool once applied, so they'll work with any undertones. Most of the neutral-leaning shades have a subtle fruity undertone, so aren't as 'boring' as I'd first dismissed them as being. I also really appreciate that the majority of the shadows are matte, as I have hooded eyes so the shimmer shades do transfer on me a bit. I've tried some of Maybelline's single matte shadows in the past and didn't care for them, whilst the matte Gigi Hadid contour palettes have great formulas, and I think that the mattes in this palette are somewhere in between; they aren't very pigmented and feel a bit powdery, but they do still build up and blend fairly easily and last all day with very little colour fade and no to very little creasing [there's no change if I bother with a primer or not]. The shimmers all have better pigmentation and a smoother feel to them, and wear as well as the matte shades do - a special shout out to Sugar Coated, as it is a gorgeous shade and has a higher formula quality compared to everything else in the palette.

[this is a review based on the UK edition of Lemonade Craze, which has a different palette layout to the US edition] The eyeshadow pans are split into three quads, with the central quad being larger than the other two; a bit of a waste in my opinion, as the largest quad is the one with the most easily dupeable shades in. This is a limited edition themed palette, so I do think that Maybelline should have put one of the actual 'lemonade' themed quads in the larger pans. On the subject of two pan sizes - why? Couldn't all of the pans have just been slightly larger and uniform instead?

The shades in the Lemonade Craze palette are pretty, the formulas are the average quality for the price and the amount of product you get is good for a drugstore brand [12g in total], so I don't regret getting it and have been using it a decent amount of times to the point that I'd miss it if I lost it and would be highly likely to replace it if I could. If there is a 3-for-2 or another offer on somewhere and this is available, I'd say "get it" to nearly everyone as it is a cheerful mix of shades that is nice to play around with. If buying it alone at full price I'm going to have to say "approach with caution" if you have any depth to your skintone, because if you're don't have a fair-to-light skintone I'm not sure how/if the shades would work on richer skintones, since the majority of the shades are on the lighter end of the spectrum and the pigmentation is a bit poor on some of the matte shades.

Brows -Maybelline -Expert Eyes Twin Brow & Eye Pencils

These are actually quite good considering the low price (around $3). I have been using "Dark Brown" for a long time now, even though I would not consider the color dark brown at all. I have light golden brown hair, and this warm toned brown color matches my brows/hair perfectly. The formula is stiff and matte, so it looks more natural than other pencils, and stays put really well. I can't imagine anyone using these as eyeliners though. I have tried all 3 of the brown shades, and they all run very warm, so if you have ashy hair, I would skip these (the Blonde shade is a nice neutral taupe however). I don't like having to sharpen them, but that's my only con. I will repurchase!

Mascara -Maybelline -The Falsies Push-Up Drama

Okay. Where do I begin? I have come here to rant about this terrible product. This mascara is the most clumpy, sticky, and most transferable mascara I have every used in my whole entire life. the wand is so thick that it would just smear all over the place. it smells like toxic waste and it would only be perfect for one look. the look where you want to convince everyone that u have been crying in your room nonstop for 10 hours. literally. its is such a pain to wash this goddamn shit off. like god. one wipe leaves your whole eye back and it drips everywhere. it has stains my eye. STAINED. it looks like I have some sort of infection in my eye or some sort of dirt everywhere. honestly the consistency of the mascara and the pigment is fine but everything else is terrible. I want to go to the creator of the mascara and have a whole chat about how terrible this mascara is over a cup of tea. im literally 14 and I better stuff to complain about other than this mascara that has lefty eye black.

Thank you and goodbye.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline -New York The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette

on 7/17/2018 7:40:00 PM

I've always been curious about these palettes since they seem to get universally good reviews by Youtube and the blogosphere. Great reviews? No, but good. I've never bought one since I use shimmer on my eyes sparingly and prefer an all matte palette. Well, low and behold, they now have them. I bought "Skyscape Dusk" which is pinky/lavender/mauve palette. Not *a lot* of variation between colors, but I did like the overall shade and of course that it was matte.

As to application? Eh. Disappointing. First off, quite dusty imo. On the eyes, after sweeping a color on, I felt like saying, "did I just do....anything?" It requires A LOT of build up, and even then the colors seemed drab and muddy. I've used it twice now. I like to give a palette at least 3 wears before I give up.

I wonder if there's a lot of variation in quality between these palettes. I get the feeling that some of them have better quality shadow pans. I'd pass on Skyscape Dusk if I were you.
