i had to review this since I mentioned it in a concealer review. My original reason for purchasing this was because I'd started Retin A (0.025%) and wanted something to combat any resulting dryness. I love that it's got hyaluronic acid and ceramides, and because of the added silicones, it's silkier than vaseline alone. I don't have an issue with silicone or vaseline breaking me out so after applying Retin A, I use this under my eyes, around my nostrils (because I can get a little careless with the Retin A, trying to target my marionette lines) and on my lips. I don't find it *the* best for lips (it seems to thin out when it gets warmed by body heat) but it still works and I don't get dry lips. It works nicely for cuticles and dry hands too when the weather gets so cold and dry. AND, for me, it works amazingly well under concealer (under my eyes). Someone had posted on the boards that they used vaseline under their eyes before concealer so I had to try it using this and I haven't stopped! I use a thin 'film' so just a tiny bit, but it helps spread my concealer and it makes it melt into my skin better. I set with RCMA powder and I'm good for the day! This is also great for the usual cuts, scrapes etc... I got the large tube which can be a little hard to squeeze but you only need a tiny bit to do the job. This will last me forever but I'd certainly buy again.

This follows grape seed oil as my second cleanser in the PM. It’s gentle yet effective. I have acne prone skin that can become dehydrated if not cared for. This cleanser is perfect for cleansing while maintaining a healthy moisture barrier.

Moisturizers -CeraVe -Facial Moisturizing Lotion - AM SPF 30

I actually quite like this product, but it is definitely finicky so I understand the "meh" rating.

Here's how it works for me:

After washing my face with water in the morning, I use Indeed Labs Vitamin C24 and allow it to sit on my face for about 20-30 minutes while I get ready for my day. In the wintertime, if I need some extra moisture, I will pat a couple drops of rosehip oil on my skin and let that settle in for a few minutes. Then when my skin feels ready, I use two pumps of the CeraVe AM, spread it in my hands and then gently pat all over my face and neck until it's absorbed. Another minute or two to allow this to settle and onto my makeup application.

The main complaints I notice are that this is drying and that it pills. I can definitely see the potential for both which is why I use this over top of a moisturizing serum or oil and when I apply it, I pat it in rather than smoothing or rubbing. I should also note that I don't wear any foundation or concealer, only a light powder to even my skin tone and reduce shine. So I can't make any comment about its performance under makeup.

Overall, I like this product and I think that for the price this is a kick-ass SPF lotion with a kick-ass line up of skin nourishing ingredients. I will continue to purchase and use. I removed 1 lippie due to the aforementioned finicky-ness.

Moisturizers -CeraVe -Facial Moisturizing Lotion - PM

I bought this lotion mostly because of the hyaluronic acid and ceramides. Ceramides are the lipids on the outer layers of your skin while hyaluronic acid retains moisture. I have combination skin with an oily t zone and dry cheeks. I apply it liberally to my face at night in conjunction with the CeraVe Hydrating bar and it pairs beautifully. I do have sensitive skin and rosacea and my skin has not been irritated by it (something that's very important to me). I wake up with my skin looking calm, hydrated and soft. Fragrance-free and perfect for sensitive rosacea skin. However, some people are highly irritated by niacinamides which could lead to stinging and break outs so buy at your own risk. An alternative is Vanicream (cliniderm in Canada) that does not contain niacinamides.
