Dry Shampoo -Amika -perk up dry shampoo

I have thick, coarse, dark, Asian hair. I don't think this product does as good of a job as some of the staples out there like Batiste or Psssst. I also think that the white cast that this leaves is difficult to rub out. I also didn't think this product lasted for very long and I felt like I used the can up pretty quickly. It smells great (hence the 2 lippies), but not good enough to justify a repurchase.

Conditioner -Amika -Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Conditioner

This conditioner is just like the matching shampoo- I wish I could rate it 4.5 lippies :) This is the only purple conditioner I've ever used that is a dark midnight blue-violet color instead of a pale lavender, and I think that's why it works so well. It's thick and creamy, and as far as moisturizing goes it's good at smoothing and hydrating a bit but it's nothing to write home about. The scent is just like the shampoo and is a sort of herbal salon scent that reminds me of Aveda products. My hair is left feeling a bit coated, and I tend to have to apply a bit more leave-in after I use this shampoo and conditioner, but the toning results are worth it. I used this duo for two days in a row and my hair looked like I just left the salon- my highlights were a stunning icy blonde. In my opinion, this shampoo and conditioner are tied with Shu Uemura's Color Lustre Cool Blonde shades reviving balm for banishing yellow tones. Awesome products!

Shampoo -Amika -Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Shampoo

I wish I could rate this a 4.5. I bought this shampoo on a whim from Sephora and I'm really pleased with the results. I've tried at least a dozen purple shampoos in my years as a bottle blonde, and this is definitely the best I've used. The pigment is an intense blue-violet, the lather is rich, and it doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped afterwards. I can shampoo twice, let it sit for a few minutes and my hair doesn't feel like straw after rinsing. The scent is a sort of herbal salon smell, somewhat like Aveda. My hair is bra strap length, medium thickness, highlighted (balayage and icy blonde at the ends), and my brassiness by week three after coloring always drives me crazy since I'm a natural brunette. This is tied with Shu Uemura's Color Lustre Cool Blonde shades reviving balm in terms of toning results. My only complaint(s) would be my hair is really fluffy and left feeling a little coated after using this shampoo and conditioner, but the effect on brassiness is worth it.

Styling Products -Amika -Un.Done Texture Spray

I like the idea of this product but it didn't perform all that well on my straight, baby-fine, color-treated, thyroid-medication-trashed aging hair. It added a bit of body for the first few hours but as the day went on, it weighed down my hair and got gummy. I think this would work better on thicker, coarser hair.

Hair Styling Tools -Amika -amika polished perfection straightening brush

I read good reviews of this on Sephora and Amazon. Watched some youtube reviews that were convincing. Thought I'd take a chance because I could always return it. Cheapskate me found it on ebay for $70 with a month return window. The brush came today -it is holy grail material for me. I have thick, wavy hair that looks great blown out. Looks good natural if I'm having a good hair day. (one day out of 4 is good) Thing is, and this might just be my quirk, my natural collar bone length hair feels heavy and kind of drives me crazy when it's down. I'm always putting it up when it's natural so it doesn't matter if it is a good hair day or not. Blown out my hair feels light and manageable and I don't mind having it down.

I hate blow drying my hair. It's ok occasionally but every other day such a chore. Straightening iron is easier but doesn't give the volume I get w/a blow dryer. Plus I think it's somewhat damaging if I use it all the time. I've also tried keratin treatment but wasn't happy with it. The Amika gave me the look I get with blown out hair but it's so easy and fast! I like some body and movement but if I wanted to I could also get it stick straight. Unless this turns out to be excessively damaging I think I've finally found my hair solution.
