Moisturizers - CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

Note: according to my pH strips this is slightly basic. If I used it long term I'd combine it w/ acidic toners or serums.

So the thing about DDML is it's practically the only high end, cosmetically elegant-ish face moisturizer that uses a good amount of petrolatum/Vaseline (La Mer being another one!) - well-proven to be the world's best substance for slowing transepidermal …

Moisturizers - CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly

I have dry/combo skin. Notes after first application, on damp skin after mild cleansing:

My first moisturizer ever was a cheap pharmacy-brand oil free gel w/ water, glycerin, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, gelling agents & preservatives. It made the skin feel and seem less dry, for like an hour.
This feels exactly like that gel, except possibly less moisturizing. It's …

Highlighters - MAC Cosmetics - Cream Color Base - Pearl

4.0

TL;DR:
+ Looks shimmer-sheeny to me w/out glitters, unlike a ton of other highlighters I've tried that ppl have said this about
+ Good hue for pale ppl, also weirdly uncommon

- Wears off really fast

As of yet the *only* highlighter that adds shimmer particles (as opposed to only greasy/dewey shine, which you can get w/ a dab of lanolin or sunscreens), but …

Primer/ Corrector - CLARINS - Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch

Like Monistat chafing gel and numerous primers, this has silica powder suspended in a silicone base. It mattifies skin slightly, which "blurs" pored and wrinkles - just like how shiny highlighters make them look worse - without feeling as drying as most powders, or having a white cast or tint (on my super pale skin anyway).
- It's in no way a moisturizer or other skin …

Mascara - benefit Cosmetics - They're Real Lengthening Mascara

This gives me low key racoon eyes after a few hours at work, even in great weather. Really surprised since NYT-owned Wirecutter endorsed it. I honestly don't think I've looked this bad since that time I used the same tub of Great Lash for two years. Ehem.

The effect is pretty nice, if heavy, but it definitely applies clumps (not only clumps together lashes, but you know …

Powder - bareMinerals - Original SPF 15 Foundation

I wish I had tried this a lot sooner, it's expensive af and hard to test in Sweden, but I finally took a chance and was lucky with the color.
Clings less to my flakes than any liquid tinted product I've ever used. Very nice color correction on me, can be built to at least medium coverage of color. Texture-wise it gives a very natural/skin-like surface, but can exacerbate my pores …

Eye Shadow - NYX Professional Makeup - Hot Singles - Over The Taupe

3.0

Dec/13/2018

TL;DR: not very pigmented. Great shade, perfectly gray-brown without warm tones - very good brow shadow, crease color for contouring (on pale ppl like me). Doesn't seem to fall out much. Not very long lasting. Creases a lot. Haven't tried with primers or wet appl.

Ok, since Nyx has quality control issues: mine was purchased in Sweden in November 2018, on the back is printed …

Sunscreen - EltaMD - UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 41 - Tinted

Needs more shades but the tint works suprisingly well on my pale AF skin (NW10-13 maybe), it looks a bit dark but it's so sheer and very neutral-toned. I think it may be more problematic on deeper skin tones. On me it gives the tiniest hint of color (redness) correction, somewhat similar to the Bareminerals Primer BB Cream SPF30 (somewhere between Light and Fair) though that one is much more …Read more

Other - NYX Professional Makeup - Pro Foundation Mixer

I've used the white mixer to shade match; here are some thoughts.

- If you're pale and mixing perceptibly lighter, realize you're not going to be "adding a drop of mixer to your foundation", you're going to be **adding a drop of your foundation to this mixer**. (Mixing darker is much easier.) So essentially, this will be your foundation.

Self Tanners - CLARINS - Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster

Apr/05/2018

So my skin is very fair, maybe NW13 or even paler. 4 drops mixed in 1/2 tsp lotion on my face at night for 2-3 nights gives me a very very light "tan". It looks as natural as any fake tan ever looks (this has DHA + erythrulose, so the 2 existing self tan agents). Haven't seen any streaking. I have dry flaky skin, but haven't noticed it getting drier from this either. I use it …Read more
