I bought this after reading all the reviews about the 'illuminating' factor-- which I couldn't see when I tested this in the store. But yeah, DON'T use this as an all-over tinted moisturizer! I have never looked shinier. What this has been good for is days where I want to go lighter on the makeup. I'll use concealer around my eyes, nose, and chin, and blot a bit of …Read more

My first thought on smelling the EDP was 'it's a more girly Angel!' Since I've never been able to decide whether I like Angel or whether it smells like what I imagine a nuclear explosion would be, this is a nice alternative. I actually like the drydown best, once the slightly-overwhelming patchouli note chills out a bit and the sweet, creamy florals step up.

I tried this at Bloomingdale's. The EDP I tried had a really pretty, light aura of citrus, honeysuckle, jasmine, and a vanilla-musk base. I thoroughly enjoyed this for the 30 minutes it lasted on skin and clothing, before dying off to a rather harsh, cheap bathroom cleanser note that was barely discernible.

This was another discounter find for under fifteen dollars. I had heard surprisingly good reviews from Bois de Jasmin and NST but I've never been big on celebrity scents, but for the price and the list of notes I decided to try it. The top is a big burst of citrusy green tea, violet and leather, and becomes more of a powdery green tea scent as time goes on. It's quite a bit like …Read more

People on fragantica call this Burberry Brit with more orange and vanilla sugar. It is! I actually like this a lot more than Brit, which is too sharp and strong for me. The packaging could be prettier, but since I picked this up at Marshalls for a whole five dollars I can't complain. It's a nice little budget oriental. The lasting power is decent on skin and better on clothing.

I've been on the longest hunt for a violet scent, and finally came across this at Marshall's for $20. It's a light, not-too-sweet and not-too-green violet on top of a very light, clean musk, similar to other Philosophy perfumes. On me this lasts a few hours (an hour more on clothing) with low sillage. It's been perfect for this heat wave where I've been craving dainty …Read more

I tried this in the duty-free shop on a mad dash to a connecting flight, so it's possible that the bottle I tried was old or had been under bright lighting for too long, but- I got a very light touch of jasmine, and something that tried to be almonds, but the overwhelming impression was simply nice baby powder. I might try this again to see if I get a better spritz.

This is frequently compared to Pleasures, Happy and even (to my nose) Jessica McClintock, but I actually like 5th Avenue better; these other ultra-clean floral fragrances all seem a little too sharp and bright to me. 5th Avenue opens up on a nicely natural-smelling bouquet of prim white flowers: a little lilac, a bunch of lily of the valley, and fresh green stems. The flowery effect blurs a bit …Read more
