Primer/ Corrector - GUERLAIN - Guerlain L'OR Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold

Hmmm, it's OK; that's about as excited as I get about it. It was about £50 from House of Fraser. It comes in nice, heavy, luxurious bottle with a pump. For that much money, i suppose I expect better things. It doesn't last long inasmuch as the bottle is rapidly emptying (I bought it in early December and it's almost finished) and it didn't make my foundation last …Read more

Foundations - Kevyn Aucoin - The Sensual Skin Enhancer

To be honest, I wasn't quite sure what to do with this (I am shade SX06). I have concealers so didn't need another one and it's far too thick and pigmented for a foundation. However, I tried using it recently mixed with my cheap as chips but rather fabulous Astral cream for a nice, moisturising foundation at night and it worked a charm. Looked really nice, just the right amount …Read more

Lotions/ Creams - Unlisted Brand - Astral Cream Face & Body Moisturizer

Jun/21/2016

I was away from home and had forgotten my moisturiser (and MU remover) and remember seeing an article where someone had waxed lyrical about Astral and spotted this in a local Boots and, at the bargain basement price of £3.99 for a massive tub, I thought I'd give it a go. Bingo. What a diamond in the rough this stuff is. Looks a bit cheap and smells like granny cream (which actually I …Read more

Eyeliner - GUERLAIN - Loose Kohl in Noir

I only use loose khol powders and have done for years. You put the stick with powder on your waterline, drag it through and it coats both waterlines, top and bottom, and smudges into your lashes and does the job of an eye shadow and mascara to boot. I do apply it before foundation etc. as, inevitably, you get fallout onto your cheeks. The Guerlain stuff is over-priced and not as dark as the …Read more

This stuff is really nice but, ouch, the price isn't. I am 50 and it makes my skin look great and goes on smoothly and you don't need much. They only had two colours in at Heathrow Terminal 5 and so the colour I got is a little dark for me (soft rose) but nothing I can't work with (I am NC20, I think, in MAC). I think it was £100 or thereabouts. I will repurchase when it runs …Read more

Treatments (Face) - Rodial - Stemcell super-food facial oil

Nov/25/2015

Waste of money. I went into Space NK on Bishopsgate and left £139 less well off, clutching this facial oil and a Rodial dragon's blood sculpting gel moisturiser - or something like that. I'm 50, with good skin (it's a little dry and can get red around the nose but nothing drastic). I can't even say this stuff is awful since it did nothing - zip, zero, nada. Not …Read more

Tinted Moisturizer - Dr. Hauschka - Tinted Day Cream

Hmmm, quite oily and too dark for me but I could get away with it on a summer holiday but in the heat and sun of summer holidays it would be too oily. So, on reflection, it's a no. For reference, my skin is slightly dehydrated, quite pale (think I'm a NC20 or thereabouts in MAC), no spots or blemishes to speak of but a bit of redness in the usual area around the nose.

Loose Powders - By Terry - Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder

Jun/28/2015

Ok, so, I'm 51 with fairly good skin, no wrinkles thanks to a lifetime habit of not sun bathing but a little redness and a few larger pores around the nose. This is the only powder that doesn't dry me out when in an office or somewhere with AC or heating. I use it under my foundation but over moisturiser and SPF. It makes whatever foundation I'm using stay on for hours and I …Read more

Styling Products - Bumble and bumble - Surf Spray

I absolutely cannot make this stuff work for me. I have naturally quite pale blonde hair that's going white in steaks and it's quite coarse and wavy, rather than nice curls. Anyway, I have tried using this stuff on damp hair, dry hair, soaking wet hair, hair that has been blow dried first, straightened first, curling tonged first - you name it, I've tried it and all to no avail. …Read more

Bronzers - CHANEL - Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base

Mar/16/2015

I only recently pulled this out from the back of my drawer to try again. Good stuff. I use it as a makeup base, after moisturiser but before foundation, and it makes my makeup perfect. I am pale and so this way it's not too dark on me. Makes my pores look teensy weeny. That's all I can say really. It is quite pricey and not easy to cart around (heavy glass jar) but there is no …Read more
