notes listed are; Amaretto, Neroli Blossom, Gardenia, Cedarwood, Iris, Bulgarian Rose, Vetiver, Patchouli, Amber & Benzoin.
i definatly get the vetiver & benzoin as the leaders here, as well as a little vanilla. the others support perfectly; not too sweet and phenomenally well blended. its smoky oily a little dry yet rich and almondy in a marzipany way. my favorite cartier by far. i …

Fragrances - CREED - Original Vetiver

A clear distinction from Creed's Vetiver, Original Vetiver is, for my money, the best Creed on the market for men, and the best vetiver period. original santal i found soft & warm but terribly unoriginal. also there seems to be a house note in many creeds that keeps some peple away from the brand, i numbered myself among there ranks for a time. i would suggest for those individuals to …Read more

Fragrances - Serge Lutens - Ambre Sultan

4.0

Feb/02/2006

the sense of smell is, for the most part, almost devoid of objectivity. emotion and personal association is the name of the game. the oregano in this makes me instantly think of a brightly lit and boisterous pizza parlor. so much for exotic lands and mysterious evenings etc etc etc. its a very nice amber, not as sweet and potentially cloying as the marvellous ambre precieux from MPG, but …Read more

Fragrances - Serge Lutens - Vetiver Oriental

not bad but certainly not worth the price. not particularly unique either considering Lutens other fragrances. soft clean nice enough, but not even very reminicent of vetiver. to me, smells like the ubiquitous note used in all avdea products, does anyone else get this?

interesting and well blended...agar wood is hard to find in todays offerings, check out YSL M7 and even though theres no agar wood in it; les parfums de rosine rose d'homme. i expected a little better duration of wear from this, Carla Sozzani actually said she wanted it to not last so it had to be reapplied??? whats that all about??? still original and classy

Fragrances - Acqua di Parma - Iris Nobile

Gorgeous; probably the closest i can personally remember to pulling over the tall stalks sticking my nose in and inhaling; sweet warm soft, uncanny how the anise compliments and lifts the iris's own licorice like quality. one of my all time favs. the drawback; price. like all things, sample before you buy, especially this one as it will set you back about 125 dollars for the 100ML. one of …Read more

gorgeous, great for men of course, and the non frilly uber-gravitas serious femme fatale. rose & patchouli and a little leather. the other notes are there, but thats what i get. fans should also check out 10 corso como; similar notes & structure with that gasoline medicinal agar wood or (oud) note. sounds strange but its amazing

Fragrances - Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Perfumes - Iris Bleu Gris

3.0

not at all bad, just not the mens iris i have been looking for. i went from creeds green irish tweed, unwearably AWFUL, to different companys bois d'iris; nice enough but too fleeting and "clear" like most of jean claude elenas creations. iris bleu gris is a big time chypre which is fine on its own terms, but maybe with other notes. OAK MOSSY all the way, vaguely reminisent of grey …Read more

Fragrance - CHANEL - Pour Monsieur Eau de Toilette Concentree

my nose picks up vetiver bergamot oakmoss pettigrain. a super classic controversially updated in the 80s/90s like guerlains vetiver. some people prefer the old, i prefer the new as it lasts MUCH better and seems less sweet and powdery and somehow even more quintessentially french. the only mens chanel scent that Madam Chanel herself would recognize as it is the only one extant while she was …Read more
