Treatments (Face) - SkinCeuticals - Retinol 0.5% Refining Night Cream

4.0

I'm not entirely sure I'll rebuy, but...
I've been using this Skinceuticals Retinol for about 4 months. Previously, I had used LRP's Redermic R for years, so I'm not new to the retinol rodeo, but the Skinceuticals-- even at this lower formulation-- is more powerful stuff.

Even four months later, I can only use this maybe 3x a week. When I first got it, I …

Toners - Pixi - Glow Tonic

5.0
Created with Sketch.

Oct/02/2015

I just bought my second bottle.

This is my first real foray into acid toning. Granted, I switched up quite a few things in my skincare routine, so it's hard for me to say which products deserve credit where, but this certainly has done no harm. My skin feels and looks worse when I've gone more than a couple of days without using it.

In all, I'm happier with …

Fragrances - Le Labo - Santal 33

1.0
Created with Sketch.

Sep/13/2015

This makes me smell like a walking, talking Vlasic pickle.

I love that Le Labo sells testers of its fragrances. It's a very good policy because I've found Le Labo fragrances, more than many others, change dramatically on my skin. I initially really liked the smell of Santal 33, both in the bottle and on my skin after the first spritz.

Three hours later, not so …

Treatments (Face) - Sunday Riley - Luna Sleeping Night Oil

4.0
Created with Sketch.

Sep/13/2015

I tried Luna via some deluxe samples, over the course of maybe 6 weeks, using it 2-4 times a week. I initially really, really liked it, but by the end I wasn't completely sold and I don't think I'm going to shell out that much money for a retinol. If it was cheaper (or I were richer), I'd use it, but for me it's not worth it. My skin looked nice after using it, but …Read more

Treatments (Face) - Sunday Riley - Good Genes

5.0
Created with Sketch.

Sep/13/2015

Oh Sunday Riley. Why, oh why, are your products so expensive? Why, oh why, do they work so well? Good Genes is $105. And I've already bought bottle #2 because I didn't want to run out (and there was a good deal), and it's a product that provides pretty much immediate looking results. I notice when I don't use it for a few days. I'm sure there's something out there …Read more

Mascara - CLINIQUE - Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara

3.0

Sep/08/2015

I'm torn about the Chubby Lash. On the one hand, hooray for a mascara in a color other than black or brown! On the other, well, it's just not that good.

I have the Black Honey. The color is pretty. It's subtle, and for me it's very much a daytime or more casual look. There is absolutely no lengthening of my lashes, and I suppose they're a bit chubbier …

Cleansers - CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

5.0

Aug/04/2015

Well, yes, the consistency is somewhat like lard. But this is a lovely, lovely cleanser.

I've gone a bit crazy recently trying new cleansers. And this one is an absolute delight. Yes, a delight. Rarely am I delighted by something like a face cleanser, but there you have it. Since I added this to the rotation, my skin has been the best it's been in a long, long time. I do the …

Cleansers - Sunday Riley - Ceramic Slip Cleanser

5.0

Jul/30/2015

Apparently, I like-- and my skin responds well to-- Sunday Riley products. My wallet is not happy about this. I mean, I could be spending the $20 extra (most of my cleansers are otherwise in the $20 range) on a fancy cocktail, or another NARS lipstick, or who knows what. But considering this stuff lasts for ages, I'll suck it up.

Anyway, I bought this partially because of the good …

Treatments (Face) - La Roche-Posay - CICAPLAST BAUME B5 - Multi-Purpose/Soothing Repairing Balm

First off, hooray! It's finally available (easily) in the U.S.!

Second off, this stuff is great. This is an awesome, emergency skin saver. I vastly prefer it to the Avene salve, or any other drugstore brand heavy-duty salves I've ever used.

I first used it while traveling and my heels and feet were in absolute pain. Dry, cracked, bleeding. (This was before I had …
