Lip Gloss - Bonne Bell - Lip Smackers - Dr. Pepper

I was gifted 6 of these in varying flavours a few years ago, and enjoyed using them. They actually work when lips are dry, better than Vaseline. Excellent price point. They all smell great and have sensible packaging. The only downside for me were the questionable ingredients in some of the flavours led me to stop using them. I prefer Lush balms for better hydration and ingredients.

Treatments (Eye) - Liz Earle - Smoothing Line Serum

This has now been discontinued and replaced by the vastly superior (and pricier) superskin serum. It’s great packaging, affordable and l can’t detect a smell. But it is sticky and did little for my fast-deepening 11 lines. After a few days of use l often get a pimple in that area. The new superskin serum pretty much eliminated those lines, so l’ll probably be switching back. I can feel the …Read more

It’s fine, non-irritating and non-drying. It seems to be mostly mineral oil from looking at the ingredients, which is fairly inert. It’s slightly exfoliating when used with the cloth - my peeling gel didn’t have any peel-off after a week of this. I don’t see any brightening or redness reduction using this, which is what l’d hoped for.

Had 2 deluxe samples of this now and l’m still under-impressed. Packaging - why does the writing rub off on a ‘high-end’ product? What a mess. No scent. I’m not a fan of the plastic/silicone? brush and it’s often clump city with flaking too. But it does hold my lashes practically vertically up all day, and makes them look long, dark and thicker. So, it is capable of a great look, but is too …Read more

Eye Makeup Remover - Garnier - Express 2 in 1 eye makeup remover

A so-so product. No smell, and looks after lashes as claimed. I haven't lost a lash after a month of use. It was only £2 on offer in Sainsbury's. Packaging is ok, the lid spatters product when you close it, and resultant leakage means that the front sticker is coming off with the oil. Bi-phase removers always look exciting, but when l'm in a rush l have to shake them which slows …Read more

Shade 1 leans really pink, while no. 2 has yellow undertones. I really wanted 2, as an NC20, but was assurred by the SA that it wasn't right for me. It's true that 1 blended in better, but l'm just not feeling the love for this. I prefer the Dior pen as it has more coverage. This is quite thin. My main grip tho is that when l use it over my concealer, it pulls off my concealer …Read more

Eye Makeup Remover - Avene - Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

Fragrance free is good. I hated the thick gel texture; it felt so cold and slimy in my eyes. It doesn't irritate but l hated the cold shock during a cold winter, l dreaded applying it. The lid gets a bit gunky, but l liked the curvy bottle. As for removal, it was average. Just average. I don't wear bucket loads of eye make up, but l had to put a bit of work in to get it all off. My fave …Read more

Lotions/ Creams - Burt's Bees - Hand Salve

I'm trying to use some good ingredients in products, and this is as good as it gets for a hand treatment. But...it's like Vaseline and smells of Sunday roast with olbas oil. The lid is impossible to get off with less than bone dry hands. Why not put a catch on, like on shoe polish tins? It does go melty, possibly leaky in the sunshine. Negatives aside, l'd been wanting to try this …Read more

Hair - Philip Kingsley - Elasticizer

I can't believe the less-than-stellar reviews for this! I have 'thine' hair & this has been a staple for years now. As well as providing protein for the hair, it excels in making hair stretchier, which coconut oil just doesn't do. This helps reduce breakage and frizz. It also has a slightly volumising effect on my hair and makes it easier to comb through. Make sure you …Read more

Moisturizers - Liz Earle - Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser - Normal-Combination

It's much like the other 2 in this series. If you have combi skin this may be too oily. The ingredients are good, but it's quite heavy. Available in 50ml tube or jar format. I bought the 15ml tester from their website. Boots have recently bought Liz Earle from Avon. It smells great but doesn't do anything that a much cheaper cream couldn't do. The Superskin moisturisers are …Read more
