Hair Styling Tools - Solano - HAI Convertable Flat Iron

3.0
Created with Sketch.

I expected more from this since I paid about $80. Unfortunately, it does not glide through my hair like many other reviewers have experienced. It snags in the middle of a lock of hair, making me have to tug it slightly, resulting in flat-iron kinks (not attractive). Plus, when I try to iron my bangs, it also doesn't glide and ends up awkwardly sticking up in all directions. Eh. Better than …Read more

Primer/ Corrector - GIVENCHY - Acti Mine Color Correcting Primer

Apr/25/2010

After all the fanfare, I was surprised that this product didn't work that wonderfully for me.

Right when I apply it to half of my face, it seems to make a big difference! It really does cover up the redness. But when I put foundation over it (Lancome Renergie Lift Makeup) it looks no different than with no primer at all. More disappointing still, hours later, the side with …

Treatments (Eye) - Revive - Eye Renewal Cream

3.0

Feb/26/2010

Within TWO days of using this on my left eye only, I had significantly darker undereye circles. No problem on my right. I woke up that morning and my right eye was puffy and bright and plump, the left looked dark, older, almost sunken in. NOT GOOD. Does this actually make skin thinner? Just what I need. :P As for the lines: the jury is out. I'd previously used another eye cream that …Read more

Concealers - CLINIQUE - Line Smoothing Concealer

3.0
Created with Sketch.

Jan/03/2010

First off: the unsatisfactory color selection. I was bikini-clad on a California beach a while back, and some random guy walked by and exclaimed "Damn, that girl is white!" If a Clinique rep had been next to him, she would have nodded in agreement. The lightest shade in this concealer (02 - Light) is too dark. In basements and bars it looks great, but in bright light or outside …Read more

Eye Makeup Remover - Earth Science - Eye Makeup Remover

There is something in this that causes the skin around my eyes to sting. I freaked out the first time I used it because I have very sensitive skin with easily-broken capillaries that take 3 freaking years or more to fade, and I was worried that my face was going to go haywire. Luckily, I didn't notice any new broken caps, but I am still reluctant to use anything that causes stinging. …Read more

Cleansers - No Brand (DIY or homemade) - Oil Cleansing Method (OCM)

3.0
Created with Sketch.

Mar/13/2009

Edit: I just realized my review might be misleading. The OCM has not made my broken capillaries disappear--when I said my complexion was better, I mean that my skin had a nice dewy, supple look to it. But anyway, I decided not to use the OCM anymore because the steaming made me nervous (as I am still prone to broken capillaries). I use a variety of gentle, chemical-free bar soaps now and they …Read more

Deodorants - Desert Essence - Tea Tree Oil Deodorant with Lavender Oil

2.0
Created with Sketch.

Mar/08/2009

I had been using Dove Clinical Protection anti-perspirant/deodorant, but wanted to switch to aluminum-free deodorant. I had read reviews that this Desert Essence one with tea tree oil worked very well, so I tried it.

For the first few days, I applied it after my morning shower, and I got the impression that it kept odor away for the day, and then it would be extremely obvious that I …

Makeup Brushes - mark. - Kabuki Brush

4.0
Created with Sketch.

Nov/19/2008

First off, the reason I bought this brush was that I wanted a kabuki that had its own case, as it would be extremely convenient for travel. Well, it is retractable and has its own lid, and I LOVE that. It's also fairly small (I'd say small to medium - I am not a kabuki expert as this is the first kabuki I have purchased, but I have seen larger ones).

It is very soft and …
