Mascara - Lancôme - Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara

I picked this up at Ulta after seeing Lisa Eldridge use it in a video. This performs as promised: it is great for lengthening your lashes. The cone shaped wand has a very fine tip that is great for corners and targeting certain areas and is probably the best I’ve seen for separating and fanning out your lashes. It doesn’t clump. It won’t give you much volume, though, and it starts to flake by …Read more

This blush should be your new winter bronzer.

I am on my second pan of this blush - the first one was my only blush and still lasted me for YEARS. Today I had a revelation that inspired me to review this:

Reference foundation shades: BareMinerals Complexion Rescue in Vanilla 02, CHANTECAILLE Future Skin and Just Skin both in Alabaster, Nars Sheer Glow in Deauville. …

Primer/ Corrector - Charlotte Tilbury - Magic Vanish Color Corrector

This is a balm that dries to a powder. It sheers out with your fingers pretty easily and is best applied in thin layers. It won’t obliterate any trace of dark circles, and it seems to fade out by mid afternoon, but it is more effective than concealer alone. It is imperceptible under makeup and does not emphasize pores or texture which is quite nice. I would repurchase unless I found …Read more

Moisturizers - TATCHA - The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream

I’ve been using this for about a week. This is my first true eye cream so I admittedly don’t have much to compare it to. I’m early forties so don’t yet have monumental issues in the eye area but was starting to see some fine lines and puffiness and needed extra moisture under eye makeup.

I use VERY little of this as part of my nighttime routine. (The morning that I used it above the …

Moisturizers - Pond's - Dry Skin Cream

I’ve been using this for several years now and it is such great value for the money. I have dry sensitive skin and I use this at night before bed. It’s so satisfying because it feels as though it provides both oil-moisture and water-moisture, if that makes sense? It feels like my skin is gulping down a big glass of ice water and I haven’t gotten that feeling from any other product. This is …Read more

Cleansers - BIODERMA - Sensibio H2O Micellar Cleansing Water and Makeup Remover Solution

This is the first micellar water I’ve tried and I am totally sold. I often dislike having to take my makeup off with cleanser and water at bedtime. It’s just a pain. Cleansing wipes don’t seem to do a very thorough job and they seem wasteful. This.... this, though, is as easy as it gets. One tiny cotton pad, a few shakes of this stuff to wet it, swipe my face and OH MY WORD the amount of …Read more

I must be on my third or fourth tin. This is a really practical, pretty, lightweight petroleum balm. It doesn’t stay on too long but there’s so much product it will still last you for years. I love the old school packaging and scent, although the tin can be hard to open.

If you leave this balm in a warm car or similar situation, the balm will melt easily and when it cools down it …

Primer/ Corrector - CHANTECAILLE - Ultra Sun Protection Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45 Primer

This primer uses a chemical sunscreen. I knew from my prior disappointment with the EltaMD line of sunscreens that I have a bad reaction to this type of sun protection, so when the SA really wanted to demo this on me under some other products I protested. She talked me into it (why did I let her??), applied it, and gave me a small sample to take home. After that day I saw the beginnings of a …Read more

Concealers - CHANTECAILLE - Le Camouflage Stylo

For a long time, I was very devoted to the Cle de Peau concealer stick. I loved the full coverage and longevity. Lately though (I just turned forty) it seemed to really point out every single bump, pore, and crease under my eyes, and was so so dry.

This was the next product I tried. I use Alabaster in the Future Skin foundation, so the SA felt I could use either shade 1 or shade 2 …

This review is for the LE holidays 2019 shade “Ecstatic” available at Blue Mercury.

I’ve avoided cream or gel blushes in the past because I felt they were difficult to apply well. Now that I’m forty the common advice seems to be that cream formulas apply better than powder, and I’m in the middle of a love affair with CHANTECAILLE, so I took the plunge and picked up the holiday 2019 LE …
