Lip Treatments - Carmex - Moisturizing Lip Balm

I don't think Carmex should be marketing itself as an everyday balm or even a balm for people with dry lips when it's pretty intense stuff, but I suspect they don't want to make themselves look like a niche product. Yes, it does fix very dry, cracked, chapped lips well through its formula, which is something not a lot of balms can do. But it is too harsh to put on okay lips with …Read more

Lip Treatments - Vaseline - Lip Therapy

Petroleum jelly on the lips seals in moisture and therefore keeps lips from chapping. When I was younger, I got very ill and was super dehydrated, and had cracked lips with almost scabby skin on the edges (gross, I know). It was recommended to me to use Vaseline, and a good layer of it fixed the problem, so I've been using it ever since. It helps keep lips smooth and chap-free.
However …

Lipstick - Unlisted Brand - Technic Matte Lip Cream

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this product considering the price, but it turns out the RRP is a somewhat less worth-it £4. Do yourself a favour and pick it up from Bodycare for £1.50.
This is a liquid matte lipstick with a tidy doe foot applicator. I have the shade Moleskin Molly, a pinky-brown which reminded me a lot of the classic lipstick shade Twig by MAC. The lipstick itself …

Lip Gloss - Unlisted Brand - Technic - Roll On Fruit Lipgloss

2.0

Technic as a brand is mostly ok to very good, but this gloss is quite bad. It has a sweet fruity scent and taste, and the rollerball applicator is very fun. But the gloss isn't particularly noticeably glossy, perhaps even a little bit greasy looking, and fades very fast. Next to zero visible colour. And worst of all, it slurps all the moisture out of your lips like a terrible lip balm. Lip …Read more

Lipstick - Unlisted Brand - Miss Sporty Wonder Smooth Lipstick

I found this for an absurdly cheap £1 in Superdrug so I decided to go for it. I bought the shade Cherry Cape, a bright true red. It has a sweet but not overpowering smell and, as advertised, is very smooth and moisturising. The finish is super shiny and the pigment is excellent. It doesn't really last all that long, just a few hours, and I think you'd have to eat very carefully to avoid …Read more

Lipstick - essence - Velvet Matte Lipstick

This formula is amazing and quite unique. It's the softest matte I've ever used and doesn't dry up the lips, while also drying down to a matte finish with strong colour and staying power. It is, however, not the mattiest-looking matte I have ever seen, but I don't consider that a bad thing (the site identifies it as "semi-matte" which I find a happy medium). I have …Read more

Mascara - essence - Lash Princess Mascara

I used the false lash effect version (green) and applied on black eyelashes that are straight and somewhat long/thick.
The volume and thickness gained from this mascara is really good, but I especially appreciate that it holds an upwards curl for hours even though I don't use a curler (and this isn't even the sculpting mascara!)
I don't think the clumping is that bad. I …

Lipstick - Maybelline New York - Color Sensational Matte Lipstick - Brown Sugar

I wish lipstick wasn't so subjective. The promotion image for this shade shows a beautiful muted mauve-brown colour on dark skin. The official description called it "warm-toned" and "golden nude". The swatches were promising. I, a warm brown skin-haver, thought it would be a really flattering colour.
It came out straight up greyish-brown on my lips. It sort of …

Lips - RIMMEL - Lasting Finish Lipstick

I have Heather Shimmer (browny pink) and Amethyst Shimmer (muted purply-pink). Both have a pretty glossy, lightly shimmery finish. The colours are very pretty, Heather being quite natural looking and Amethyst being a little bolder but wearable.
Applying the lipsticks is fine, they go on very softly and are reasonably bold, but bleed a little bit, so don't expect razor-sharp precision …

Lipstick - MAC Cosmetics - Satin Lipstick - Twig

I really wanted a pinky-brown lipstick that actually looked natural (the much sought after "my lips but better" look) against my medium-brown complexion. So I bit the bullet and decided to buy a MAC lipstick for the first time, and after a lot of research, I chose Twig!
It wasn't exactly what I was aiming for because the colour pulled a little too pink to look absolutely …
