Mascara - e.l.f. Cosmetics - Eye Enhancing Mascara

So I'm pretty picky about mascara. I don't much care about price or prestige. Performance is where it's at for me. If the mascara meets all my needs, I'm willing to pay the price.

I've got stick-straight lashes that struggle to hold the curl I work quite hard to add every single morning. I've also got oliy skin and allergies. If the mascara doesn't …

Styling Products - Farouk CHI - Chi Silk Infusion Reconstructing Complex

Oct/17/2014

I have a love/hate relationship with the Chi Silk Infusion. I adore what this product does for my hair and detest the scent. I use this on wet hair before I blow dry and on dry hair as needed before and after flat ironing. I end up with unbelievably soft, swingy hair. While my hair never stays perfectly straight no matter what I do, the Chi Silk Infusion does a noticeably better job of keeping my …Read more

Conditioner - Andalou Naturals - Sunflower & Citrus Brilliant Shine Conditioner

I wear my normal, fine chin-length hair in a bob. My fickle hair is neither straight nor curly. I blow it straight every 3 to 4 days when I shampoo and condition. Otherwise I use a straight iron for touchups. I don't color or otherwise process my hair. I can't use products with silicones of any type.

I prefer a light conditioner that provides some moisture but won't …

Styling Products - Phyto - Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray

4.0

Nov/20/2013

Allow me to preface my review by stating that after years of attempting to coax my fickle neither-straight-nor-curly hair into waves, I recently began styling it straight. I wash my hair every second or third day. On days that I wash, the blowout takes care of straightening. On non-wash days, I touch up with a flat iron. I use Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray on the days I use a …Read more

Shampoo - Giovanni - 2chic Brazillian Keratin & Argan Oil Ultra-Sleek Shampoo

Nov/17/2013

I was excited to give this sulfate, silicone free shampoo and conditioner a spin. I can't use hair products that contain silicones of any kind and the gentler the detergent cleanser the better. The bottle promises to, "smooth every strand, seduce with shine and banish frizz." That was, unfortunately, the opposite of my experience.

This shampoo lathers nicely. The cocoa …

A silicone free conditioner is rare. Since I can't use hair products that contain silicones of any kind I was looking forward to trying this conditioner. The bottle promises to, "smooth every strand, seduce with shine and banish frizz." That was, unfortunately, the opposite of my experience.

This conditioner is thick and distributes easily. The cocoa butter scent is …

Eye Primer - Smashbox - Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer

Sep/13/2012

Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer is not a miracle product, no makeup product really is in my opinion, but this little baby certainly has a place in my everyday makeup arsenal.

Officially middle aged, I contend with fine lines, ever-darkening dark circles and puffiness. The texture of my undereye skin, combined with the fine lines make concealer a never ending …

Sunscreen - bareMinerals - SPF 30 Natural Sunscreen

Bare Escentuals SPF 30 Natural Sunscreen pleasantly surprised me. I like it very much. I am fair to light (MAC NC20) and use SPF30 Natural Sunscreen in the light color.

Not being a fan of the Bare Escentuals foundation, I didn't expect to like this product. I was wrong. On me, Bare Escentuals regular foundation finds every pore and fine line leaving me lit up like a …

Misc Beauty Tools - Sephora Collection - Blotting Papers

1.0
Created with Sketch.

Sep/12/2011

This review is for Sephora Natural Tea Tree Blotting Papers, which I neither like nor recommend for the following reasons:

1. Texture and absorbancy. These blotting papers are very thin and, while they do technically absorb, they are so thin one paper doesn't go far. My t-zone is genuinely oily, especially 1-2 hours after applying sunscreen and I need to use at least 3 of …
