I sung the praises of this line until I got a new batch of two moisturizers (Eight Greens & Naseberry Treatment Cream). I'm pretty sure they have reformulated, though customer support vehemently denies it. They claim batches can vary with the quality of ingredients available since it's organic, but therein lies another problem, if true. The consistency is just not there, whatever …Read more

This has to be one of the best polishers I've ever used but $85? Really? C'mon! I think it was $95 at NM when I bought it and it came in a crappy pump jar that didn't work. For the kind of prices they charge, one would think they could spring for the market research. I took the hit on this one. As such, I won't be back.

Scrubs - Eminence Organic Skin Care - Pear & Poppy Seed Microderm Polisher

Jun/25/2011

I'm a huge fan of the Eminence line but don't really care for this exfoliator. I tend to like a more physical scrub as opposed to the touted "gentals" with sparsely-distributed particles. This one, however, is a bit much. The combo of big particles (poppy seeds) with smaller, rough sand-like particles makes it awkward to apply the right amount of pressure. Plus it's the …Read more

Masks - Eminence Organic Skin Care - Blueberry Soy Repair Masque

I absolutely love this mask! I'm not a routine mask user. I only use a mask if I have a meeting/ special occasion or happen to think of it while I'm soaking in the tub. Otherwise, who has the time? The results with this one were so good I try to make it part of my weekly routine. While it really works better if you give it time to dry, I use it in the shower after cleansing and leave it …Read more

Cleansers - Eminence Organic Skin Care - Organics Lemon Cleanser

I was first introduced to Eminence during a spa treatment. Until then, I was indifferent to cleansers and bounced around from brand to brand.

I have dry, stressed skin and this is the best cleanser I've ever used. It smells fantastic and my face is not tight in the slightest after washing. I do not wear much makeup other than eyeliner and mascara, but it does a decent job of …

Fragrances - Ava Luxe - Shisha

I’m amazed at the overall low (2.9) rating of this little gem. Ava Luxe Shisha reminds me a little of the honeyed tobacco in Gianni Campagna’s Vento Canale—one of the most tragic discontinuations in perfume history, IMO. This is not “smoke” or “ashtray” but the raw, sweet pipe tobacco of my grandfather’s den with an undercurrent of warm, beach-tanned skin. Gorgeous!

The SSS website on Rose Musc: “A feminine blend of rose and lovely skin musks, enhanced by dry ambergris and dusky labdanum. Mellow but long-lasting with nice sillage and a sensual base.” Sillage, check. Sensual, check. Mellow, not so much. Laurie’s description makes it sound rather soft and feminine. It’s not. To my nose, it’s a slightly boozy, honeyed rose atop an exotic, somewhat skany …Read more

Fragrances - Dawn Spencer Hurwitz - Bourbon Vanilla

DSH Bourbon Vanilla (oil) is a different take on vanilla-based scents. As other reviews have noted, it is a dark vanilla with a smoky note. The smoke is not campfire smoke, but the rich smell of roasting coffee beans-- the near burnt French roast-- smoky-sweet and intense. I hold Bourbon Vanilla in the same high regard as Serge Lutens UBV, Laura Mercier Vanille Gourmande, and L’Artisan Vanilia …Read more

After reading the reviews, I am really surprised. Well, surprised that more people don’t like it and a little relieved at the same time. For whatever reason, I find that most of my favorite frags seem to be rated in the low three lippie range at best. I like L’Artisan Vanilia and I like vanilla frags in general. Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille and Laura Mercier Vanille Gourmande are two of my …Read more

Fragrances - Neil Morris - Burnt Amber

In the beginning, I got zero amber and immediately grabbed the vial to check the label. Did I mistakenly get a tobacco frag? No-no. The amber comes.. and goes... and then comes again. Burnt Amber is a slow dance of the prettiest amber and the most fabulous honeyed tobacco ever. I could truly roll naked in this stuff! Five lippies only because there aren’t more to give.
