Sunscreen - Dior - Diorsnow White Reveal UV Shield SPF 50 PA +++

This sunscreen is a typical Western sunscreen with a thicker creamy consistency. It relies on mostly physical sunscreen so there's a risk of a white cast after application which could be desirable if you live in Asia where 'whiteness' is sought after. This is definitely a nano sunscreen and I didn't notice much of a white cast but still beware if this is not the effect you …Read more

Cleansers - MUJI - Face Soap for Sensitive Skin

3.0

May/06/2017

This is the first Muji product from the Sensitive Skin series to disappoint me. However it's mostly a "it's me not you" case. This cleanser is obviously made for the Asian market where squeaky clean skin is preferred after cleansing. I know because I used to live in SE Asia and all the cleansers sold there give this effect. Unfortunately, after living in Australia, I developed …Read more

Toners - MUJI - Light Toning Water for Sensitive Skin - High Moisture

5.0

May/06/2017

This is the most hydrating toner from the Sensitive Skin series. Muji makes less hydrating versions, Light and Moisture. I use this not as a toner but as a lightweight moisturiser for very hot days in summer and also to soak blank sheet masks to use as a daily 10 minute hydrating mask to combat flaky dry skin especially during winter before bedtime. The next morning, my foundation just glides on …Read more

Moisturizers - MUJI - Moisturising Milk for Sensitive Skin - Moisture

Muji's Sensitive Skin series are basic skincare products with basic ingredients at a budget price point. I think it's great that they have different levels of hydration for different skin types for every product type, like Clinique's 3 step system. It's not labelled as type 1, 2, 3 or 4 but labelled as Light, Moisture or High Moisture. I'm reviewing the Moisture version …Read more

Blush - CHANEL - Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick

My first Chanel blush and also my first cream blush. I bought the pink (21) shade and it gives me a very natural flush. It is very easy to apply. Just one swipe across the cheek and blend out using either fingers or a synthetic brush. Just remember to apply after liquid foundation but before powdering. It won't work well if using powder foundation. You'll have trouble with the blending …Read more

Blush - CHANEL - Coco Code Harmonie (quad)

I'm a sucker for multi use powder compacts. I had to get this since it's advertised as a blush, bronzer and highlighter in one compact. The red blush is very pigmented and can easily be overdone so a light hand is needed. The highlighters, white and gold quadrants, have very fine shimmer and is very subtle when applied to the skin. This is also versatile that I can alter the blush by …Read more

Sunscreen - SHISEIDO - Perfect UV Protector SPF 50+ PA++++ Very Water-resistant

I bought this sunscreen from an airport in Asia out of curiosity because it is universally raved by Asian beauty bloggers. It is definitely the most I've ever paid for a face sunscreen. I honestly don't understand how sunscreens can be priced this much! Maybe very good sunscreens are expensive in Asia because it is viewed more as a beauty product rather than a health product like it …Read more

Cleansers - Garnier - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

5.0

Apr/22/2017

This is a very decent alternative to Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water. Bioderma is just too expensive for a cleanser outside of France. I do find Bioderma cleans a tad better than Garnier but Garnier is so much cheaper that I just use more liquid to achieve the same results. I use micellar waters as a pre-cleanse to break down makeup and waterproof sunscreens before using a facial wash …Read more

Blush - SHISEIDO - 7 Lights Powder Illuminator

4.0

Apr/14/2017

This is an illuminating finishing powder in the same vein as Guerlain's meteorites powder. Although the ads suggest it can be used as highlighter, blush, bronzer and eyeshadow, it really is not a substitute. On my Shiseido N2/Dior 020 skin, it barely shows up when used as a blush. It does give the skin an airbrushed look and accentuates the natural flush of my cheeks. However the browner …Read more

Makeup Brushes - RMK - Powder Brush

4.0
Created with Sketch.

Jan/04/2015

RMK makes surprisingly affordable high end makeup brushes. This face powder brush is made from a blend of squirrel & goat hairs. Unlike classic powder brushes which are round & fluffy to be used in a swirling motion, RMK's is tapered & flatter. You need to use it in a swiping motion or even tapping motion. An advantage is you won't swirl your foundation away. I find it to be …Read more
